@Meteoroid Yeah I'm just thinking that people have paid a lot more for other collectible items that actually number in the 10s, 100s or even 1000s of units made. And here this is what's likely a single unique piece, seems like quite a steal really for any collector.
@retro_player_22 I have a suspicion that we might see a (possibly limited) run of physical copies of both remastered games in the future, not unlike the FF7/8 twin pack.
@DarthFoxMcCloud Besides whether you're a fan of the box art or not, these are classics in my opinion, and personal favorites. So I'd absolutely want a physical copy, even more so since it's said to be a limited release.
@PanurgeJr It really drives home how valid the desire for some Wii U ports is though. A lot of people just plain skipped the Wii U, it's not as if everyone had one and just chose not to pick up some of these games.
@Tsurii Same here, I'm torn on whether to get it or not. I guess worst case, we hope that they add some of these features to the mainline game coming after.
@John_Deacon I really enjoyed both Star Fox and Stunt Race FX, but I knew even as a kid that they were a new thing and weren't mature yet. Particularly with Stunt Race FX, that ran at like 10 fps at times, but I still loved it.
This makes me wish they'd do DKC Returns as well. I much preferred the traditional controls on the 3DS port, but obviously it took quite a hit visually.
@Abes3 I originally wouldn't have wanted this, since while I like portable systems too, I tend to prefer home consoles and didn't want to lose out on any future Nintendo IP there. But with the Switch I won't mind, given the hybrid nature of it. So yes, I hope they now retire the 3DS and focus just on the Switch, which would likely please most consumers.
@Some_Donkus It almost feels like a lack of playtesting, like by people who didn't design it. The map issues for example should have been apparent, and the battle voices wouldn't be so bad if it they didn't overlap so much. Little things on their own, but they're quality of life things that give a game polish.
I think some parts may have been rushed a tad, but it looks like they are looking to refine things thankfully.
@Some_Donkus What's weird is that XCX had a pretty good manual available through the system menu. It didn't detail absolutely everything, but it explained a good bit. No idea why they didn't add that here.
@Jacob1092 Right I'm sure it won't be as popular to the same degree as those two, but I have a feeling that a well done title could boost it's popularity. Most of the it's best rated titles are quite old by now, so there's a whole new generation of players to consider.
@Pahvi Why is anyone getting upset over its mention in the first place? Was something controversial about it that I'm unaware of, that it must not be named now?
@Balladeer Was going to post the same thing and I agree, XC1 is the better test to see if you're going to like this new entry, not XCX. I felt like XCX has some pacing issues too, where XC1 was smoother in general. Both great games but different enough that not everyone will love both of them.
@Marios-love-child Same, I grabbed one when I saw it in stock one day. I was busy with other games at the moment, but I knew that when I'd really want one (like Xenoblade 2's release), I'd probably have trouble getting it.
I wonder if some of their stock shortages are due to some common parts/manufacturing between the Switch and smartphones? Certain things are only made by one or two companies in the world now.
@Mando44646 That would probably add a decent amount to the cost if the implementation is any good. No excuse for not adding more wire though, that's very cheap.
@Lone_Beagle For any system or N64? I've heard modern 3rd party stuff for current systems are subpar, but there used to be quite a few different 3rd party controllers from systems in the past that are very nice.
@essiw @roadrunner343 I've played both Zeldas with the Hori Mini Pad and I'm pretty sure that you can still do the spin attack, can't recall if it's more difficult or not though.
@subpopz In addition, I and many other players have controllers from other consoles, as old or older that are in good shape still. Nintendo simply has a design flaw with the N64 stick's design, and it stands out among other consoles as not holding up well over the years.
@Joytendo22 That's how it is on the Hori Mini Pad, works well IMO. Remember this is before R2 and L2 became 'standard', so it's placement doesn't feel that off.
@essiw Yep, you're thinking of the Hori Mini Pad, which is great but expensive as you noted. Also it's quite small, so that can be an issue for some. If this controller works well I might use it instead though, has better D-Pad placement for the few games that use it extensively.
@johnvboy >the console does not need any more than 720p in handheld mode.
Exactly. People also tend to forget that it costs more in CPU/GPU power (and thus battery power) to drive more pixels, so you don't really want too high a resolution for a handheld device or it's not as practical.
@daveh30 Yep, it's a nice screen as far as handheld gaming is concerned. It's just not top of the line in 2017, especially compared to smart phone tech.
@Manjushri If you prefer playing on the original hardware then definitely get one, they're a delight to use. It's especially nice going back to older games that I struggled with simply because of bad lighting.
@Kalmaro I'd maybe go for it if there was a generous season pass/dlc pack, but I don't want to be nickel and dimed either. I'm cautiously optimistic that it'll be reasonable.
I'm torn over whether I want to pay the $70 for a Pro controller, so this would be a tough sell for me, regardless of how nice they look unfortunately.
@w00dm4n Same here, really glad they fixed that. I'm surprised they shipped with that bug to be honest, it seemed to do it 100% of the time. Did they never switch their display to a different source while testing?
@NEStalgia It was like that for me while on gigabit Ethernet, and now with the Pro I've tried it with Wifi too (strong AC 2.4 and 5ghz signal). Again it'll rocket along until it decides not to. It's not dropping a connection either, that much is stable. The speeds are just inconsistent.
@Skunkfish Like I said in my first reply, I have no problem downloading at full speed elsewhere. We have a 30mbs connection, and I can pull files from my seedbox over http or ftp at full speed. I've even tested it with huge ~50GB torrents, and I got the full rate consistently. It's just Sony, and from Google searches I've noticed it's a common issue.
@Lions Nah it's the PS4 (or Sony's servers, whatever). I can download at full speed indefinitely otherwise, like on my PC. This is a known problem with PSN, the performance is flaky.
@SCAssassin My PS4 (both the original and now the Pro) seem to download at my max speed for a certain amount of time, and then it trickles in at like a 1/10th of that speed. Pausing and resuming seems to fix it for a while until it does it again, it's pretty annoying.
@shaneoh He shouldn't kick the packages, but he was in no danger from the ammunition. It's a common myth that ammo will explode like a bomb when crushed or burned. Worst case it will pop and the lightweight case may hit you, but that's not a serious injury or anything.
This video below shows extensive tests regarding ammunition and what happens when it's ignited, crushed, or otherwise mishandled.
As much as I loved Secret of Mana, I liked Seiken Densetsu 3 far more, they really did a fine job with it. About the only thing I dislike is that the action pauses when opening your menu to use items and spells, as it can make longer fights annoying.
@Sanicranfast That's the only part that's confusing me, it seems like a simple fix but they're kinda implying otherwise. Maybe it's just a matter of resources?
@Nintendood That's half the reason I was excited for this, my old toaster NES was such a pain to get working with the bad connector. I had considered getting a top-loader, but then I'd still be left with poor video quality unless I spent more money to mod it.
@TeslaChippie "Hardware emulation" is one way to put it I think, to distinguish it from a general purpose ARM or x86 CPU running emulation software. The FPGA is actually interacting with the cartridges the way a real NES would, rather than just dumping the ROM.
@Shugo Yeah I just got it yesterday, it was in the second round of orders he shipped out I believe. Like I said it's due to come tomorrow though, and I'm on the opposite coast, so it's fast shipping at least. But that should be a good sign I'd think, that he's had this many orders already.
@mikegamer Well the console doesn't require it, but the cart would if you wanted to save. Most NES games don't have save batteries, but a few notable ones do like Zelda and Final Fantasy. They're not difficult to replace at any rate.
