We revealed recently that Level-5's next big project is an RPG for the Wii U, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and PS Vita.
Wonder Flick is due in Japan next year and will feature connectivity with a mobile application for smartphones and tablets. Level-5's Akihiro Hino insists that this link "goes beyond the traditional boundaries of apps" and that Wonder Flick will be a release which "tries to pursue what makes traditional RPGs fun."
We've already seen what the mobile app will look like, and now it's time to feast your eyes on some actual gameplay (albeit for the PS4 version, but things should be much the same on the Wii U) — which is looking pretty appealing to us. Share your own thoughts in the comments section.

Dragon looks like the dragon from fantasy life
nice
There's some Dragon's quest going on here. Even that logo looks like it... the main character looks like a Toriyama design, almost. There was even a two-prong-headed slime.
wii u got a better fan base for these type of rpg games than xbox ps4 sorry
I really would like something like Ni No Kuni on Wii U, Level 5 ! But looking forward to this one.
Isn't this some kind of F2P/microtransactions shenanigan from level5? Looks nice, though.
Finally another jrpg for PS4 after FF 15. It should be the definite version of the game.definite version. I still waiting for X on Wii U though.
looks decent just hope they put the touch stuff on the gamepad and not make it only usable with a smartphone. surely they wouldn't do that though would they?
I'm interested. It looks beautiful, the music is awesome. I just really want to see how it plays with the Wii U Gamepad to see if I'm going to pick it up, might wait for a review too.
@Snkfiend Hey easy tiger. The dude was just stating his opinion, try not to lose your head before commenting
@Marshi I see i'm sorry but I pointing my opinion because I tired of this BS console hate or fanboyism over what is better just saying.
@Snkfiend very true mate I completely agree. But do you not see the irony of hating on someone whos hating on something? Your point was valid bud,all this console war stuff is imature and pointless. But try to put it in a better way otherwise your only making yourself look bad
This game looks fine I probably get this title what i'm saying this is Level 5.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like perhaps you can level up your characters via smartphone. What a great idea. The problem with many RPGs for me
Is that I just do not have the time to sit and grind levels in my living room. A little leveling up on the go is a great idea! (Unless of course I misinterpreted the iphone in the trailer).
Dat name. Whatup wit it?
@Ultrasyd
I don't get why Ni No Kuni isn't on Wii U.
The looks from the PS3 version, and the input method from the DS version. If would be grand. Of course if Sony helped pay for the PS3 version, which dragged on forever in development, then it isn't very likely to happen.
It's all good, but if it's not on a disc i won't buy it.
Nintendo has not a Steam account system, so my Nintendo consoles, for now, are getting games only when they are on disc.
Looks pretty cool but the dragon's head is WAAAAY to big for it's body; even for the SD style.
Looks like a Dreamcast game - mostly Grandia 2 and also Evolution - so that's good. I think they can make the touch screen work on any system. The "point" heavy Wiiware game Swords and Soldiers was ported to the PS3, I hated the controls but it was playable. Obviously w/ the Gamepad they can just port the touch interface straight away. I might get this on my tablet actually though, I'm over w/ Puzzle and Dragons and need something new. My kid is playing AB:SW2 right now but that's not my thing.
The nice thing for Wii U owners is we won't have to rely on cell phones for input.
Not enough blood and space marines.. its going to bomb on xBone and PS4.
@belmont Where does it say it will look any different from Wii U to PS4??... having better hardware doesn't automatically make games look better, developers actually have to spend money to create higher quality assets... something level 5 doesn't really have very much of, at least to the point to take advantage of the PS4 hardware.
Love how IGN finally announced this game as a PS4 title.
I know what I'm not getting.
@element187 Nice suggestion want a cookie so how do you know if its going to bomb on the other consoles or not? Ni No Kuni didn't bomb nor White Knight Chronicles on the PS3 as well Rouge Galaxy for the PS2 which was one of their best RPG and guess what they all was Developed by Level-5. They been developing games for Sony and Nintendo for years and this is no different. Also this game is coming to the Wii U you should be glad because of the marvelous gamepad support but no you want to be negative about the failures or using stereotypes against players again.
Would be nice to see a connectivity app for the 3DS to get this handheld into the game, too, and not only smartphones and tablets.
RPG's always do well on some platforms, anything from leve-5 is a must have.
Bomb, the dominate platform says hi,
I'd get it. :3
I'm all in for this!! Get it over here, Level 5!! ....and maybe Fantasy Life too while you're at it
@Snkfiend Actually Ni No Kuni PS3 did bomb, it has yet to reach a million sales worldwide. Considering the development costs and the extensive promotional campaign they were expecting a lot more sales. The DS version sold 2/3 as much in japan alone.
If they are smart they will no doubt use the (expensive) assets for a 3DS port or a deluxe version for next gen consoles to maximize profit.
The White Knight series had much lower dev costs and expectations to meet so its sales are considered reasonable.
I enjoyed both games btw and the success doesn't matter to me but i guess it lessens chances of sequels .
On topic i don't like the art style of this game but i'll keep an eye on it as Level-5 make decent games.
So there are big head charakters an big head monsters also? Looks funny.
This overworld part remembered me on the wiiware game final fantasy my kingdom or something like that. Cant remember the exact name.
Someone now what i mean?
@Emblem Level-5 developed White Knight Chronicles 2 and for Ni No Kuni they developed a DS version regardless of being "failures" to some eyes they were still great titles and still has good reviews. That's just like saying Wonderful 101 bombed which it did worse than both Level-5 games sales wise and guess what it was still a great niche game regardless of horrible reviews. I don't give a flip how niche the games are or how they "bomb" if it's something I like I buy but I respect your opinion otherwise.
@Snkfiend Oh i totally agree with you, my main genre on consoles is JRPG, they rarely ever see massive commercial success (especially in the west) but that doesn't stop them from being awesome games.
@DrRandle #3
I'm sorry to tell you, this is nothing like Toriyama's art style.
@element187 I think it is the opposite actually. It may be native on PS4 and downscaled on Wii U and Vita. Also I think that the majority of sales will be on Sony platforms since they have the most jrpg games and the majority of jrpg players.
Looks awesome can't wait to hear more.
Man I love Level 5, they are really pushing the JRPG genre forward, and I hope that Lightning Returns will be enough to get the media to pay more attention to the genre (for some reason, Final Fantasy has become the only benchmark for the JRPG genre).
I'm not usualy a fan of turn based JRPG's but I might give this one a shot. Let's just hope it gets localized.
Looking dope. Definitely going to get it on the U if it comes to the west.
The Wii U needs RPGs. I'm not a huge fan of JRPGs, but as long as it is a solid game it's a definite buy, especially if it uses the gamepad wisely which it looks like it will.
Also, is that a chat window in the lower left corner at around 41 seconds? Does this game have online capability?
@Snkfiend Ni No Kuni didn't bomb? 300k sales in North America isn't bombing? Quick, someone call Ubisoft and let them know Splintercell Black list didn't bomb because Snkfiend says 300k in North America isn't bombing....
out of 30 million PS3's. Thats .1% attach rate. That sir, is bombing. JRPGs sell in Japan on PS3, not in North America/EU. NA/EU buy dudebro games. having a few handful of JRPG selling a few thousand copies on PS3 in North America and Europe still keeps my statement valid. The money on PS3/x360 remains in the dudebro genres. You might not apply to that group, but thats the numbers. Brown/Grey space marine shooters sell on PS3/x360 in NA/EU.
@belmont Did you know Level-5 is an indie developer? Whatever they make on PS4 wont be downscaled to anything, it will be ported with no concessions to the Wii U.
I look at that video and I don't see a single thing in it that wouldn't run directly on the Wii U's capabilities, no downscaling needed. Indie developers don't have the funds or budgets to take full advantage of the PS4. They barely have the funds to take advantage of the PS3 let alone the Wii U.
Oh my god, this has to come to Europe and North America
@element187 BLAH BLAH BLAH broken record just because you say so dude you need help regarding your hate against consoles and the players. The point is regardless of your so called "hate rants" calling people "dudebro". (What the hell does that mean) Level-5 games are successful I don't give a damn what you freaking think about the rest of the NA/EU or garbage numbers and reviews just suggesting the facts that the games are amazing and the fans proves it and I don't care what the others think or buy I play to enjoy my games. And guess what I love Battlefield series too so is i'm a "dudebro" too because I like "brown/grey" FPS?
@element187 BONK!!! Level-5 is a "indie developer" you really fell off your rocker now so you are stating that all the games they developed on PS2/PS3 was indie games LOL. And Wonder Flick isn't Wii U worthy because of the funds and this contradicting statement "I look at that video and I don't see a single thing in it that wouldn't run directly on the Wii U's capabilities, no downscaling needed. Indie developers don't have the funds or budgets to take full advantage of the PS4". Dude you really need help seriously I have nothing to say but you are delusional.
