Re: Nintendo Has Sneakily Confirmed The Switch 2's Mysterious 'C' Button

anzzjam

So, nothing was confirmed, besides that the letter C does exist and it does appear on this button. I do not think we were wondering what letter, if any, was going to appear on the button. Like most buttons, I believe we are curious at what it does.

Candy. The button makes candy, or buys me candy, or I buy it candy. Something with candy.

Re: A New Tomodachi Life Game Is Coming To Switch Next Year

anzzjam

Is this anything like Animal Crossing? I've tried Animal Crossing three times and it seems those games just aren't for me. I just don't want to get burned again as I assume this will be $60 bucks. I do like that this game exists even if it might not be for me.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Direct For March 2025?

anzzjam

@TheColorRed I am not worried about it, I just wanted to opine on the reaction to the direct. I was just expecting a bunch of $60 dollar remasters, back to back to back to back, until the screen faded to black. I think for some reason most would have preferred that, which just blows my mind. Plus, I must admit that Rhythm Heaven is always a welcome way to end any console generation. They did it with the Wii, the 3ds, and I think its proper to the same with the Switch. What a fun game series from what seems to be a mostly bygone era for Nintendo.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Direct For March 2025?

anzzjam

People are crazy. I mean, you people are crazy. If this direct was "too good", then the Switch 2 would seem pointless. For a console on its way out, I think this highlighted that hey, there are at least 4 first party games coming to the Switch 1 that aren't just overly expensive remasters. Compared to the sendoff to the 3ds, which I think did stink (as a sendoff, not the system as I think it's my favorite system ever), it was a good direct.
Again, you people are crazy and impossible to please. I have been a bit negative on Nintendo throughout the entire Switch generation, as I just don't think their lineup is as creative as it was when they needed to support two unique systems. But... this is a solid sendoff to the system that killed the era of two interesting systems during a generation. Now I am rambling, and I don't care.

Re: Feature: These Past 8 Years Have Been A Privilege

anzzjam

Eh, I don’t mean to be a hater but I preferred both the ds/wii era and 3ds/wii u era considerably more. It probably doesn’t help that as I’ve gotten older, I just have less time to spend playing video games. I think the switch has compromised handheld gaming. I know it’s a handheld, but it lacks games designed for handheld play. Plus, the gimmick this go around hasn’t led to any fun things. I still remember playing No More Heroes and getting phone calls on my wiimote. I know, I know many think of these sort of things as gimmicks. I think differently, that’s all.

Re: Opinion: Nintendo, Let Us Buy The Games Being Delisted From Switch Online

anzzjam

This is a bit silly. Of course, ideally, we could buy these games before they are delisted. Rights to games is a nightmare and the deal Nintendo or anyone else for that matter likely stipulated that the game has to go. This is why subscription services often suck. It’s the new normal though. I don’t like it, but I won’t pretend there is an easy answer.

Re: Talking Point: Can Nintendo Keep Up The One-Game-A-Month Release Pace On Switch 2?

anzzjam

It’s possible, but the switch changed how Nintendo looks at releases. Remember when the 3ds had some lovely small releases like pushmo, boxboy or Dillon’s rolling western? The switch didn’t have any Nintendo published games with this more limited scope. I hope those days return, but if they don’t, then I would say no, they cannot keep up a game a month release schedule.

Re: Review: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl - A Middling Pair Of Remakes

anzzjam

@BloodNinja I think single battles are fine, and the tweaks over the years help. There are double battles and those change things up considerably. The big problem is that the entire game is single battle focused. With the two versions nonsense, maybe they can try making the other game double battles. It’s not so much the gameplay mechanics that are stale, it’s everything else. The campaign is just such a slog, at least for anything after Gen 5.

Re: Review: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl - A Middling Pair Of Remakes

anzzjam

Okay, I don’t think I’m getting this. I’m a dad now and this just isn’t giving me $60 of fun. I got burned on let’s go pikachu as that was certainly not worth $60. I get the split gen thing for main games, but now that these are technically on consoles and the price is much higher than the original releases, can they at least make the remakes one game? I would have at least played through let’s go again if I could use the other starter. We know the Pokémon company farmed this one out and from all appearances, it was a quick and low cost remake. Why in the world is every switch release $60 now? I’m done for a while with gaming I guess. Nothing new has sparked me. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m sad that games, even remakes, are so phoned in now.

Re: Review: Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl - A Middling Pair Of Remakes

anzzjam

@johnvboy It’s a DS game and it will sell like hot cakes. Visually, as the review states, battles look better but the overworld is more of what you prefer. For example, I think golf story looks great with pixel art, and it wouldn’t be better if it went for the chibi look.
Also, and this is true of any game from the DS era, they haven’t found a good solution for the lack of dual screens so it can be said that the originals will have a superior gaming experience.

Re: GTA Trilogy Could Be This Year's 'Cyberpunk 2077' As Rockstar Is Flooded With Refund Requests

anzzjam

@BloodNinja I agree. With that said, I can understand why many assumed that ps2 ports would be a walk in the park, slam dunk, etc. In some ways, I wonder if bad press about a terribly optimized release is a marketing strategy at this point. Cyberpunk still sold like crazy and I don’t think that game was purposely that crummy, they just ran out of time. With this trilogy, I’m actually wondering what the heck is going on here. I wonder if this will push GTA 5 sales up for a bit. I certainly wouldn’t be surprised.

Re: Talking Point: Super Mario 3D Land Turns 10 - Was It The Best '3D' Game On 3DS?

anzzjam

This game was the best use of 3D on the 3ds and easily a top 10 on the system for me. With that said, the honor of best game is far and away Kid Icarus Uprising. That actually might be my favorite game, period. Best 3rd party game? I might need to give it to Rhythm Thief but a couple stages did make me want to throw my system due to the finicky gyro required for a couple songs. Wonderful game though.

Not sure who’s coffee costs 4 or 5 bucks a pop, unless you are referring to a latte made by a professional. You know, a tangible product that includes a substance that enhances people’s productivity. I find value in being able to drive up to a coffee shop and buy a coffee to get me through my day. This? These are games that have already made money many years ago. It’s a digital good. Though I do admit, people who are complaining are going a bit overboard. It’s an overpriced service I personally have little interest in. No more, no less.

Re: Nintendo Shuts Down Offices In California And Toronto

@SwitchForce Yep, if California ever failed as some wish, our entire country would be screwed. This isn’t even cutting off the nose to spite the face level of stupid. This is like wishing for our country to collapse because of political differences.

Re: Random: Forget Dread, It's All About Metroid: Other M On Twitter Right Now

anzzjam

Pretty good game. I found it memorable mostly for the unique control scheme. I don’t think it was the best game to implement said control scheme, and I wish other games used it as it was truly fun. Funny enough, taking kid icarus uprising into account, there could have been a really neat on rails shooting leading to 2d and 3D sections using the d pad. Also, the story was okay. Let’s this be a lesson to those that hate this game but want Link to talk in the next Zelda game. Be careful what you wish for.

Re: Nintendo Shuts Down Offices In California And Toronto

Wow. Some people really have an axe to grind against the state of California. People like to think coastal types are out to get them. This comment section helps prove otherwise. It’s a wealthy state that has so many industries. That’s the reality. Yes, California has some bad laws and bad people. This is true of any state. Some weirdos here are equating censorship in a game to some made up policy that does not exist. Get a grip, this is so sad when people hate on regions due to their own ignorance.
