Re: Oh No! Ark's Ultimate Survivor Edition For Switch Has Been Delayed

a_brave_new_geek

I spent hundreds of of hours on Ark on PS4 with 4 other mates from real life. It truly is a fantastic experience. Strangely, The actor Vin Diesel is a play tester and bug reporter.

Apparently on PS5, it now runs as good as ever.

I miss the world of Ark though I am not going back as there is a real sunrise to enjoy.

Curious though to see how the Switch update pans out. The video footage above is pretty damn good.

If anything, this could mean that they have updated the game for an upcoming Switch Revision.......

Re: Feature: 12 Nintendo Games That Deserve An HD-2D Remake

a_brave_new_geek

I am still yet to play Chrono Trigger (and Half Life 2) of all the classics.

I voted for FFVI though would be happy with the pixel remaster.

I absolutely forgot that Lufia and the sequel were a thing. I had those in the 90s on my trusty SNES Disk Drive. And Mystical Ninja - that was great. I confused that with the recent Pocky and Rocky release.

During my 2 week work experience I discovered a guy working there had a disc drive too and we swapped then copied the games we had. Those were the days!

Possible contenders for this list:

Shadowrun
Tales of Phantasia
7th Saga
Secret of Mana (I was so disappointed with the last remake)

BTW - I haven't played pirate games this century.

Re: Hand-Drawn Super Metroid-Inspired 'Ghost Song' Finally Lands Release Date

What are everyone's favourite Metroidvania(s) of the past five years?

I think for me it would be Hollow Knight.

I have loved video games for about 40 years. I realised recently that is a real blessing when a developer bottles lightning like in the making of a Dark Souls, a Hades, a Darkest Dungeon, an Into the Breach, a Slay the Spire or a Returnal.

Yet, it is a bloody curse as bottling lightning doesn't happen very often. Most other games, despite being good, are just bottles.

Let's see!

I plan to try and get through Ys VIII (8) as it is on trial with Switch Online. Got back into JRPGs for first time after 25 years with a play through of Xenoblade 3 last week. Ah the memories of simpler times of the 90s.

Other considerations that are on brutal sales on the eshop:

  • Bioshock Collection
  • Quake
  • Darkest Dungeon Ancestral
  • Slay the Spire

Re: Nintendo To Reduce Switch Packaging By 20% To Combat Supply Issues

a_brave_new_geek

@SwitchForce Exactly and agree - The concept of free trade assumes that jobs are not traded, just the manufactured goods or services. Hence globalisation actually runs counter to the concept of free trade. I do wish Nintendos were still made in Japan!

Whichever way we see it, most consoles and games are made by a slave labour force without any rights nor environmental regulations that indirectly supports an authoritarian government that has little to no respect for human values and life.

My Switch was made in Vietnam (not China) which I am happy about. I will not buy any physical games unless they are made in Japan. I am happy to pay more for these criteria. Deku is great for snaring digital bargains too as an offset.

I have only recently been clued up on this subject as in the past, I had not clue!

Some ways to encourage manufacturing back to a country that has outsourced is:

1) Government subsidies
2) Banning certain imports/higher Tariffs
3) Societal stigmas/shaming of buying certain goods
4) Promoted respect for the country of origin

Would be happy not to receive any packaging outside of something that protects the item itself.

Re: Backlog Club: Portal's A Triumph - I'm Making A Note Here: HUGE SUCCESS

@BadTango Yeah! Portable Roguelikes ftw. I also love Monster Train and Griftlands. About to crack open Nowhere Prophet and just backed Gordian Quest on KS for Switch.

Return to Eden looks good and waiting for Isaac + DLC to come down from the £55 (65 USD) entry price.....

I use this site to track and get notified about digital game prices too (list is what I am looking out for atm):

@BadTango Snap!!!!

I have Slay the Spire on mac - top 10 GOAT for me. Love it! I still CANNOT beat Ascension level 20 with any character. Came two turns away with the Ironclad. Man...

Thanks for the heads up re: Skul, may be I will give a whirl on Neon Abyss, Children of Morta or Cult of the Lamb instead.

Yes, I feel like I need to play Portal 2 more than I feel the need to play it.

I just added my collection to my profile here - it took 5 minutes. Have a look, we may have more games in common.

I have just finished the story on Xenoblade 3. I recommend anyone to play even if it is not your usual bag.

First JRPG in 25 years as I was waiting something that could be better than FF7. For me, it is.

What a bloody game that is and a masterpiece alongside Returnal, Hades, FF6/7, Bloodbourne, Dead Cells, Civilisation, Last of Us 1/2, Slay the Spire and Witcher 3.

I am yet to play RDR2 or Elden Ring though in 40 years Xenoblade 3 joins the list.

I will play through again next year on hard to finish in time for the probably massive December 2023 expansion.

Bon weekend all!

@RubyCarbuncle The battle system does take a while to grok. Oh man, the strategy (making the builds over class/ouros, accessories, gems, and art(s)) and inheritance coupled with the timing of tactics in battle make it incredible deep and rewarding.

There are a silly number of tutorials and practices.

Agree with you on Chain Attacks though! That took me a while and I now love the risk/reward of the imperfect information.
