Thanks to NintendoLife for including guides to games like this. I haven't bought the game but since there is no demo to try, browsing some of the guides is the next best thing to get a sense of the game.
@FishyS This game is sublime. Geddit!
What would be really nice is a list of where to find collectibles. I've got certain items on cards that I've had for days and still haven't found them. Blue Screws are one such item, something like that.
Does this game share a universe/world with the previous entries?
I never got around to playing the second one, been on my bucket list forever but this arrives on the mail today and wondering if I can safely jump into it first.
@Tharsman Originally I posted that you should be able to play XC3 without concern since XC2 did not require you to play XC1, but it sounds like XC3 actually might have some aspects that tie in to both previous stories. You may want to play XC2 first.
@PerishSong ugh, back log comes to bite me in the rear... these are huge games... might take me about 2 weeks to get through it all...
i am going to get my hands on this game
I recommend playing easy/normal mode for newcomers to Xenoblade. Hard mode is great for veterans but enemies are damage sponges and the aggro is insane, really helps to play around with different character builds.
My biggest suggestion to all is to turn off HUD elements when not in combat and to take time to explore the world. So many little hidden secrets!
I gave part 2 an honest try but everything was so cringy and I am really over all of the over the top anime tropes, so I will be skipping.
@Daniel36 XC2 is really nothing like this game tonally.
I’m probably going to wait for the dlc to drop before playing. When I replayed xc2 with the dlc from the start it was a better experience.
Yes thank you!
More X3 content please!!
Got this game at lauch, physical version. Very first one of the series I'm playing and I'm loving it. I'm living this game since friday.
@Tharsman The aspects from previous games are huge easter eggs and they will make a lot more sense if you’ve played the other two. But if you do a ‘quick’ playthrough of 2 for the story, you can just leave all the exploring and side quests for part 3. It’s a much better game.
@Tharsman the answer you seek is in the article if you bother to read it
@Tharsman If you're going to play either previous game before XC3, try to play both, honestly. They're both great stories. If you can only play one, play 1, as in XC1, as it's a slightly better story with better, more fun combat mechanics, no gacha (Blades), and no anime-waifu-cringe. All opinions are subjective of course, but I feel it's a great disservice to advise you to play XC2 and not the first game. IDK, maybe check out the trailers for each and see which one strikes your fancy. Otherwise, watch one of the many available YouTube videos summarizing the relevant plot points from the first two games and dive straight into XC3. Enjoy, and happy gaming! Xenoblade Chronicles is one of my favorite game series and the first game is pretty much my favorite game of all time, or tied with XCX and BotW. 😁
@HighFlyingBird this line never fails to be dumb trolling, but of all cases, it’s x10 here. The article itself says it’s spoiler heavy. Like… seriously…. put one and one together?
@Debo626 oh I played the first one and loved it. I already decided to get started on the second one. I see why many hate the gatcha system, but got to say I feel it adds some uniqueness to playthroughs. If I ever decided to play it a second time, it’s practically certain that my leveling/progression team of blades would be drastically different.
Maybe one day I go back and play XCX too, another one in my backlog. My Wii U still hooked up for whenever I decide to start playing it.
@Tharsman Oh you did, nice! XC2 does have a great story, but it didn't hit quite the same lofty heights of wonderfulness that XC1 did. I hope you enjoy your time with it! 😁
XCX is absolutely worth the time of playing through. It's such a fun game.
