UK chart data is now in for the week ending 1st June, revealing that Team Sonic Racing has managed to stay in the top three in its second week on sale.
The game dropped 46% in sales from last week when it debuted at number one, with the Switch version narrowly outselling the PS4 version to make Nintendo this week's most popular platform for the title.
Perhaps the biggest news to come from the charts this week, though, is the fact that PSVR title Blood & Truth has become the first VR game to score a number one. The game landed just ahead of FIFA 19 which was likely boosted this week by the excitement surrounding the UEFA Champions League final.
Here's a look at this week's top twenty all formats chart:

That's lovely but I'm still not that hyped about sonic racing.
Also, a VR game coming out top is interesting, I still want VR to keep going.
I feel like GTA V will never disappear from the list
Team Sonic Racing bestselling on the Switch!! I think as the weeks go by this will be the bestsellling sku worldwide just piping the PS4....
I've got this game, Blood & truth, great fun, great production values, totally deserved
Labo VR right now.
Well TEAM Sonic Racing had a good run but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is leading the way again in third on the individual formats chart.
Crash Team Racing will give Mario a proper challenge I feel.
I got Blood and Truth and it's great fun and deservedly top, hopefully Nintendo will make a dedicated VR device at some point to really help it take off
When a VR game tops the chart, you know it's been a slow week.
VR’s really come a long way it seems and I have no doubts Sony will continue their VR focus going into the PS5.
@Carck
I am commenting purely on sales not the quality of the games. Haven't even played Sonic Racing so I don't know how good or not it is. I also won't play Crash but I believe it will significantly outsell Sonic Racing and may even give MK8 a run for its money.
@Carck
“It’s not a competition“
It’s a chart so....yeah it is.
Tis as it should be: VR is the future of gaming so it's just a matter of time before it starts taking over more and more of the gaming space, much like 3D did to 2D back in the day, and this is just the start.
Great for SEGA.
Saw the review of Blood and Truth on PushSquare. Sounds like a cool gaming experience. Good chance ill jump in VR with PS5.
"FIFA 19 which was likely boosted this week by the excitement surrounding the UEFA Champions League final"
Well the Switch version not even in the top 40. Time to fixit or give up and use the cash for Madden in the US.
@Carck I think this is actually a weird sort of problem on Nintendo systems. The first party games dominate by such a ridiculous margin, that it's almost not worth it for the 3rd parties to try. A perfect example is Rayman Legends vs New Super Mario Bros U on the Wii U. Rayman was an amazing game but it didn't sell that well while NSMBU sold great (by Wii U standards) despite it being a just another installment of a franchise Nintendo was REALLY milking hard. (Before anyone freaks out, I'm not referring to Mario in general, I mean the all nearly identical looking "New Super Mario" games). So I can see that 3rd parties may be reluctant to sink a lot of money into a game when there's a high chance Nintendo fans will pan it as "Well, it's no Mario Kart / F-Zero / etc."
@Carck
The post you replied to is talking about the chart positions of three different kart racers.
You said ‘it's as if you can't enjoy 2 different games of the same genre’ which wasn’t in any way suggested. You then said ‘It's not a competition’ when it is in fact a competition. I don’t know what your last reply relates to.
Kind of nuts that a VR game reached number 1. I love VR but have always acknowledged it's never going to be a mainstream hit in it's current guise.
VR can co-exist with traditional gaming just fine, just like movies can co-exist with video games. Not everything has to be a war over what is the "future of entertainment".
Blood and Truth deserves top spot. A Triple-A first party title in VR, an obvious labour of love and (so far) a very, very fun time. Hopefully a sign of things to come. Reminiscent of Goldeneye. Otherwise I’d say it’s not very strongly opposed and it feels as though we’re in a bit of an overall lull.
@Agramonte FIFA 19 is at number 13 on the Switch only physical chart, and at number 3 on the Nintendo Switch eShop, Cuphead and Minecraft above it at 2 and 1 respectively. Assassins Creed 3 Remastered is at number 5 on th eShop & Resident Evil 4 at ten. There are no first party titles in the eShop Top10.
The Top 15 most popular games on the Nintendo eShop for May have been revealed via Nintendo News on the Switch News Channel... interesting the only first party title to feature is actually Super Mario Maker 2, obviously on preorders alone. The eShop is a very healthy digital platform for third parties it would seem! Good to see.
@MJInnocent That #13 does not even get you on the top 40 individual. Just shows how low those numbers are. Not only is FIFA #4 physical, it is also #3 digital on PS4. We already know that FIFA 19 sales in the UK are 75% physical.
AC3 not in the chart at all - not combined, not individual... and nowhere in the top 35 PSN store. That a 56 Metacritic AC is only charting in the eShop, is not something I advertise as a WIN for Nintendo.
Switch was again only 3% of sales for Ubisoft. Hopefully seeing Sonic's success (charting everywhere) will make them try harder. They have 3 announced games for E3 - lets hope for something big and good on Switch.
I bought Sonic Racing and now I regret it 😖
I knew the frame rate was bad and wasn't going to buy it, but some reviews were saying it's a great game, you won't notice the frame rate issue after a while, etc etc.
Yeah well, it plays like a PC with an inadequate video card. The lack of decent frame rate makes the game feel laggy or sluggish. It's just not enjoyable for me. I will not make the same mistake again. At least I got it on sale (physical copy).
@Agramonte I’m not claiming it’s a win for Nintendo, just pointing out that games beyond Nintendo first party output are thriving on Nintendo’s digital store, which is a win for their partners and those buying and enjoying them, and they ARE enjoying them, regardless of metacritic score. I think it’s good to see and hopefully bodes well for all of us going forward.
@MJInnocent yeah I don't believe in "something is better than nothing"
Ubisoft didnt take a break from releasing half baked, dull and full of bugs Assassin Creed games out of care to their fans. They did it because AC: UNity launch numbers crashed and The CEO panicked.
At least the people who buy physical on Switch are Sending the same message to EA and Ubisoft on Switch. And that - I think it’s good to see and hopefully bodes well for all of us going forward.
We both hoping for the same thing, just with opposite actions 😉
@Agramonte don’t get me wrong, I personally am not buying AC on Switch, but I can see plenty on my Friends List who have, I can see that they’re putting hours in to the game and again, regardless of current metacritic scores, I KNOW they personally are having a good time, and that pleases me.
