Re: Team Meat: We'd Work With Nintendo If Meat Boy Made It Into Smash Bros.

WesCash

I'm a big fan of Edmund McMillen and Team Meat so I would be one happy panda if they did any work at all with Nintendo. I know there's almost no chance of that happening though.

I can't believe all of the hate on this page. I swear that anything or anyone that isn't related to Nintendo just gets trashed by the users on this site. It's pretty sad to be honest.

Re: Cliff Bleszinski Sees A Future Where Nintendo Is Out Of The Hardware Business

WesCash

I'd say that Sony or Microsoft would leave the hardware business before Nintendo does. That's not an insult to either of them. I just believe that Nintendo is the slowest of the three to implement change, so I can't seem them being proactive in becoming exclusively a software producer.

Eventually we'll have an open platform console and all 3 companies will be in the same boat, producing software and no hardware.

Re: Talking Point: Early Flirtations With Wii U "Free to Play" Are Just the Start

@Bass_X0
I personally do a lot of research on a game that I'm interested in so that I can be completely confident I will enjoy myself even before I've played it. I can honestly say I have never purchased a full price game that I regretted or was disappointed with. I always know exactly what I'm getting into. That's why I prefer to just pay upfront once for something. Of course everyone has different ways of saving and spending their money though.

Re: Talking Point: Early Flirtations With Wii U "Free to Play" Are Just the Start

WesCash

The idea of paying more and more money to get the most out of a game is really unappealing to me. I'd sooner drop a decent sum of money to begin with and never have to pay anything again. The only free-to-play type game that I've ever supported was TF2 and that's because a player that chooses to spend money is never at an advantage over a player who chooses not to. Everything available to buy is entirely for cosmetic or convenience sake.

Re: New "Batman Arkham" Title Due in 2013

WesCash

Sweet! I still need to pick up Arkham City though.
I wonder if WiiU owners will get this at the same time that PC/PS3/360 owners get it. I'll get it on PC but hopefully Nintendo doesn't get shafted. I can see that happening though, not gonna lie.

Re: Talking Point: This Fan's Tragic Tale Highlights The Problem With Nintendo's Approach To Download Purchases

WesCash

The only logical explanation for people voting "yes" is that they misread the question and meant to choose "no". Seriously, how can anyone be so naive?

@Knux - I agree with everything you said, this is one of the reasons I'm iffy about getting a WiiU as well. I even feel a bit nervous about buying the occasional game on the 3DS eshop. Compare that to Steam where I have no worries whatsoever.

Re: Talking Point: Gun Violence and Nintendo is an Unlikely Pairing

WesCash

@JKBC97 I'm well aware of crime statistics and all of the potential explanations. I've taken a few university level courses on crime and stats. The problem with comparing "violent crime" among countries is that it has no meaning. Different countries have different definitions and thresholds for what a "violent crime" is. It's essentially comparing apples and oranges.

Homicide is one of the few crimes that is recorded, reported, and explicitly defined in the same way in most countries. The US homicide rates are well above the majority of developed countries. I'm not saying this is due entirely to firearms. Population density and economic inequality are both almost certainly an issue as well. It's a combination of factors. But certainly no one in their right mind can be against the idea of keeping guns out of the hands of unstable individuals. That is something that everyone can get behind, even if we disagree on how to accomplish it.

Re: Talking Point: Gun Violence and Nintendo is an Unlikely Pairing

WesCash

@Five-seveN The US does not have less crime than European countries. That's complete bollocks. Going by the most recent data, the US has a homicide rate of 4x that of the UK and over 4x that of Italy, Spain, France, Denmark, Sweden, and others. The US has one of the highest homicide rates in the world among developed countries. And 2/3 of the murders in the US are committed with firearms. The US has 40x the number of homicide firearms that the UK has. (Source: UN Office of Drug and Crime)

I understand the need to protect oneself. And there are plenty of law-abiding gun owners. But there are right ways and wrong ways to control and manage firearms in a country. Look around at the rest of the developed world. It's pretty clear that something is wrong in America. Numbers don't lie.

@Bankai So true.

Re: Review: Hydroventure: Spin Cycle (3DS eShop)

WesCash

Awesome review. I can't wait to download this and Crashmo once I finish up a few of my other games.

I'm wondering if tilting the 3DS might be easier than rotating it if the gyro controls respond in the way that I think they do. For example, instead of turning the 3DS upside down, couldn't you tilt it forward enough so that the gyro sensor thinks the 3DS is upside down?

Re: UK Press Pins Blame For Sandy Hook Massacre On Video Games

WesCash

VIdeogames do have an influence on people, just like any other form of entertainment. It's called desensitization. The more you see or hear about something (ie violence), the less offensive it gets. Are children who play COD, listen to profane music, and watch Saw more aggressive than other children? I'm willing to bet that they are.

But being more aggressive does not correlate to being psychotic. Anyone that is having thoughts about extremely violent acts has serious mental problems. Videogames are not responsible for that. Not even the media is responsible for that.

Re: Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Now Available For Free On iOS

WesCash

@pixelman
Considering that NL posted an article about the teaser, it is only fitting that they do a follow-up to explain what the teaser was for.
There isn't any iOS bashing in the article, only facts. If those facts happen to make iOS look bad, that's no fault of NL.

I'm surprised that people didn't like Dojo. I loved it. I found that the website really got me pumped for the release of the game. I don't really care about spoilers though, especially for games without plots. I like to know what I have to look forward to. Loading up Dojo everyday to see something new was a great experience in itself.
