@johnvboy Either way from what we do know. Many are and seem to be wanting more even if they liked the game.
We can't just assume everybody enjoyed it because the wider market didn't listen.
That wider market aren't the ones who will live and die by pokemon so I would be cautious to accept these people as indicators of the games quality. Hopefully Nintendo and game freak can learn that from the WII U,
I am glad some people enjoyed this game but at the same time it is disappointing because this is not the pokemon game to end all pokemon games that it shouldve been.
From my own experience with the game I found many aspects I did like from pokemon designs to the gym battle. But there were simply too many bad aspects from a terrible story to terrible writing to constant interuptions, far too linear etc.
from what I've heard though the crown tundra, while as ugly as the rest of the game, is a MASSIVE improvement. So hopefully that lasts.
There is literally a very vocal amount of people that are dissatisifed. There is even data from this very POLL.
it even has a generally low user score on metacritic, where granted it can be review bombed. But that usually stabilises. It hasn't though. The reviews are incredibly low for a triple AAA game like this.
@TheFullAndy sarcasm about what? That this game could've been great and is lackluster comparitively to most other games in its own series let alone the competition?
That this poll tells us a lot of people are dissatisfied?
I don't know what there is to be sarcastic about.
People could certainly have fun with this game but it certainly isn't meeting potential
@johnvboy Even so the amount of dissatisfaction regarding the game is awful. Many people are dissatisfied and to just go " that's just a vocal minority" really downplays the games shortcomings. There are plenty of games where people sing their praises. I rarely hear anybody sing their praises for this game other than they had fun with it but it could've been a lot better.
Either way whether you expected otherwise. The data in front of us suggests that a lot of people were dissatisfied. AND I said "suppose" we "assume" it's representative. I did not say it is. Even if it isn't representative, what it does imply is that it is indicative that many "hardcore" nintendo/pokemon fans were dissatisfied.
And I guess I'm sorry I don't regularly track the sales of a game I think is bad? I thought it had hit around 22+ million copies by now but I guess not. Either way whether the number was incorrect or not it still is not a good look for the game.
@Yas Almost a 50/50 split is AWFUL. Almost 50% of people did not like this game or were unhappy with it. That is DISGRACEFUL. If we suppose this poll is representative, that's 11 million+ underwhelmed/ unhappy/ disappointed players.
@LivingLeif I would like to recommend you try the demo. This game has fully voiced cutscenes and story, more creative attacks, better graphics, better combat, better progression. All from what it is shaping up to be so far, I would encourage you to try the demo.
@Ashunera84 I assume you didn't play the multiplayer much? I played with my boyfriend and we met HARSH frame drops, it was extremely noticable and he doesn't usually care for that kind of thing at all. The frame rate at its worst got so bad it was half way to looking frozen! Didn't affect our enjoyment but definitely something I want to see fixed and is something we never really came across in the other HW. But the first also looked way worse and was an upscaled Wii U game so.
@vincentgoodwin I played with my boyfriend, one mission we had the impa clones and Zelda's bomb + us both doing combos in a small area and the framerate CHUGGED so bad.
We still had a blast but this is something I hope they can maybe fix.
@Rambler I believe that pikmin 1 and 2 released on the gamecube and were later ported to the wii. BUT they were ported to the wii toward the end of it's life cycle meaning less people will have picked it up regardless.
@Kalmaro I don't think it's a matter of being offended but a matter of respect for losses and also to avoid upsetting anybody. There's been hundreds of thousands of deaths to this virus and there's really no reason to make it your username for a laugh. It's unnecessarily provocative and disrespectful.
To put into context covid losses in America alone:
They've lost nearly double the amount of people to Coronavirus than every single military casualty in every war since 1946. That's a lot of people. And that's just America. So there's no need for us to use the virus that has caused so much hurt as a username because I guarantee you there are people that care and there's really no reason to not respect them. They're just here to game like the rest of us.
@Kalmaro I mean yeah most people don't care but what about those who do? It's a harmless change after all. I think it's way more likely someone would be upset by a COVID name than someone trying to call themselves COVID. If anything it just made a few peoples experiences slightly nicer. And I don't see the issue with that
@Kalmaro well no but it is a bit insensitive. To a lot of people it's humourous but there's been lots kfy people who have lost loved ones to this disease especially recently. And maybe someone who loads up their switch for a spaltoon game doesn't want to get splatted by covid because of this. It's just a trigger for some people and it's not fair because is it really bringing that much joy to the person using the name.
I read quite far down and some of you don't seem to have considered other people, just censorship bad or they better ban other diseases
@TheBigK I'd suspect any company who wanted to would also tell everyone because it's kind of free publicity. For example if you wanted to donate to charity and there was a stall that said show us your donation receipt and we'll boost your business, you'd take it right? Because it's like a free bonus, likewise purely donating for this "free bonus" would be beneficial for both parties as well because it's an incentive to donate.
It's just business. It's how it works. Just let them do a nice thing and receive their publicity.
@Dodger Yeah I suppose you're right they're no mechanism, but they probably had to consider how letting that stand affected the company and whether it sets a precedent.
If he was let off who else would try to abuse this and then claim it was on the right side of a political discussion?
If Blizzard let this one slide does China remove them? Do they lose money?
Does letting this slide give the impression blizzard has a political stance it doesn't want to have and be neutral?
There's a lot to consider and I think they took the right route, it could end poorly no matter what.
Hong Kong is also not an independent entity, it is owned by China and is Chinese territory, it just had it's own laws thanks the to deal Britain made upon its return under the 1 country 2 systems. China is breaking this agreement and violating rights which is wrong but it's sadly nothing new, china is powerful enough to get away with this and there's not a whole lot we can do except let them until their is internal reform.
It's a massive grey area but I don't think I'll of blizzard any more than just about every other large company who abuses cheap labour, supports things that violates rights.. etc.
Of course I would love change but china is one of those entities that must change from within not externally. They have too much influence.
@TYRANACLES I don't think most characters would go down well tbh, but I am hoping for Tracer personally, my all time favourite game is probably Overwatch. People are really picky about what they deem worthy of being in smash, anything can get in, it's not "the gaming hall of fame" or something. Just popular characters, every character has some "flaw" that means they can't get in or aren't "worthy" these days. I just want the characters I want!
Would like to remind everyone that the competitive player was banned not because he spoke in favour of Hong Kong but because he used Blizzards competitive platform as a way to promote his political opinions which is against code of conduct, this led to Blizzard trying to appease all audiences with various different statements while maintaining their ties with China (because whether you like them or not China is an economic powerhouse that you'll have to deal with). Not saying being pro Hong kong affected nothing because I don't know that but either way the player broke the rules whether it was in favour of china or not.
@TYRANACLES It would have to be Kings Row! Fight over the point for an attack boost or get healed by like 1%/s on the payload! have the payload explode at the end like on Kings row! HAVE THE MAP MUSIC THE MUSIC FOR THE MAPS IS SO GOOD! If you haven't I recommend listening to them in full!
@Anti-Matter I'm not expecting them to be the same? I just said you don't need to eat, you can eat but it is not a necessity like a survival game. Therefore I don't understand why I would prepare a meal in Animal crossing if I don't need to. I can just eat fruit which grow everywhere and I can selll fruit which grow everywhere
@RPGamer We definitely need more uses for currency. Bells? maybe there's just enough but I'd like some more big projects like the home loan as I don't feel like there's anything expensive to save up for now I've paid it off.
Nook miles though. I have 110k and nothing to spend them on.
@Anti-Matter But you don't need to eat per se. You can but it's situational, not like minecraft hunger. And as you just pointed out we can eat fruit. I can see the appeal to some but to me this whole task seems a bit meaningless. Why take the effort to prepare a meal if I can just nibble on the hundreds of fruit I have growing on my island?
What's the point? We have fruit for money and you don't need to eat? This just seems like wasted development to me. I'd much rather have more buildings / stuff to collect than create a farming plot.
At the very least I hope we get a greenhouse we can place and you farm exclusively inside it because I'd rather not have to dedicate a part of my island to become a farm.
Why are there no male clothing rewards like ever. The final bunny day outfit was the dress and then this has only mermaid dresses. Heck over half the shop is always purely girls clothes.
@ReaperExTenebris It's a fighting game. Serious or not. Just because the "FGC" doesn't love it, it doesn't mean its not a fighting game. Shrek Super Slam is a fighting game. What determines whether something is a genre is not popularity. Smash Bros can be considered a party game, the director himself said so and he prefers the term party game. Does this make smash bros not a true fighting game? I don't think so because you fight therefore it's a fighting game.
@AlexSora89 Byleth isn't broken smh. If you're having trouble don't go offstage and stay underneath them. The laggy down attacks make landing hard. I love playing Byleth still though.
@rjejr personally I'd rather a quality character than watered down skins. And if its 16 million peoples first impression you might as well make it a good one rather than "the mummy" or the "noodle girl". It's an opportunity to show these people the life of the ARMS franchise through a stage music and character. If anything an Echo fighter would work much much better and would take a few new animations, tweaked moveset and add their unique ability somehow like ribbon girl can jump more or something.
@rjejr it would if it was possible. The character's are all very different. They have the same basic core but each one's model, animations and abilities expands upon it and it would do the fighter a disservice to water them down for the sake of more skins.
@GrailUK because it wouldn't represent the characters. . The koopalings and Jr are pretty similar in size and the clown car does all the work anyway. The Heroes are just avatars that have the same abilities near enough.
They all move differently and express their personalities differently. And then there's the models. Some are bulky some are slim.
Then there's the abilities which would be scrapped, Ribbon girls extra jumps, Twintelles time slow.
The hypest thing would be if one of these challenger packs is revealed and they pull a Richter on us and announce theyll have an echo within the pack. Like they announce Spring Man with a Ribbon girl echo, etc.
It's a bit more feasible than you'd think because it would just be another model, which they did with hero, with a few new animations which again they gave Joker Arsene, hero a ton of down specials, terry has more specials too, and move property changes and bam an extra fighter. IT WOULD BE HYPE if they could do that.
Is it just me or are legendary Pokémon so much less interesting than normal ones? The only thing they have is being promoted as special with stupid stats. With there being so many legendary Pokémon these all seem so pointless. And the fact that it's either extremely common or arbitrarily rare kinda ruins it too because you'll either never see it like some other mythicals or everyone has it so what's the point.
"Fire emblem has too much representation" I don't think this is entirely true. Characters are not the only form of representation in this game and what is chosen to represent a series is just as important. For example the items list has tons of Zelda items because Zelda is known for its dungeon items. And Pokémon had the like all and lots of characters because it's about catching them all. Yes characters are the most important form of representation. But 3 of the fire emblem characters were or are now echoes. And these echoes are a great way to represent the series as it's characters are the most important thing in it's respective series. Ike, Robin, Corrin and Byleth are all completely unique of Marth and his clones. I think a lot of the arguments thrown at FE representation are unfair. Yes another Kirby or Zelda character would be nice but who do you pick? Beyond what we have it gets a bit bland and obscure (due to few recurring characters) for those series in all honesty. While Zant or Magalor might be cool FE having a new set of characters every time almost plays in its favour for a new rep just like Pokémon does.
I'm not sure how well structured this point is. However long story short the FE representation is how it is for a reason and is most likely not a blasphemous over representation due to echo fighters making up a third of their playables anyway. Also due to the everyone is here trope, they can't cut the number of Fe characters so if a new one got popular (Byleth) they couldn't have cut anyone in favour anyways.
@Deathstalker83 I would like to offer my condolences for paper Mario fans if you're having to resort to wanting a bad game just because they want it so badly.
@justin233 I agree. I really enjoy this game too. The roster truly is one of the best and thats undeniable. It might have a lot of costume characters but boy are the costumes diverse as well as the return of old and new characters, like Pauline, Birdo and Diddy Kong! I really hope these get carried over to make a massive roster!
I for one, think this game is good fun. Just because it has micro transactions doesn't mean the game play/ process of unlocking things isn't fun. Though game play is subjective. However I dont find the argument that they should just give us real games a valid one because they simply aren't for that. They're to introduce people to the series while also providing a mobile suitable experience, not a watered down switch one.
I see his point? But his stakes are different is not a valid response. Because everyone has different stakes their personal life can't be taken into account for these things. You can't make exceptions for anyone in rules because what's the point in the rules?
Edit: some cases like in law exceptions are good but this is just a sport
Personally I really like this game, I think it's fun. The best thing I can praise it for is the roster of characters. It's the second largest roster to date and actually has good variety (including confirmed characters). While there's still mario and peach clones I find these ones more interesting than the ones in MK8DX.
With 6 characters that aren't in MKDX the game also only has a few characters not confirmed for this game from MK8DX are Pink gold peach, cat peach tanooki mario, Mii and the non mario characters. And there's still more to come.
@Qwiist I think its more likely Mario Kart 9 will be an expanison for Mk8 deluxe. Maybe not called Mario kart 9 but theres not much a new installment could bring and new characters, courses and costumes are always welcome.
@ACK 1. Regardless of what people clamor for. Its what they want. 2. Geno has a large move pool because hes from an RPG. Also SMRPG is a highly beloved game and is more popular than chibi robo 3 Hades might be cool but Kid Icarus has plenty of representation as cool as that sounds 4. Chibi Robo has a small following and isnt as popular as the other characters theyre adding. Though not very iconic i think he deserves to get in one day.
@ACK 1. Shadow is just an echo. 2. Kid Icarus does not need more representation at all. 3 is too many already. 3. ARMS rep will be dlc because I doubt they'd be in the base game because of their release and development window. 4. Chibi Robo is pretty dead and not very iconic imo. 5. Geno is interesting he has a cool moveset potential, cool design, a history with nintendo and hes been clammered for for years.
One thing you don't mention is how this encourages microtransactions for lets go players. If I want melmetal then I have to catch 134 Meltan and thats a lot of poke balls granted you can get them free. But 134 poke balls minimum...
@NewAdvent The only issue is that the portable console they make would then compete with the playstations and be weaker. And people buy playstations for power not exclusives like Nintendos large library

And then there's the models. Some are bulky some are slim.
Then there's the abilities which would be scrapped, Ribbon girls extra jumps, Twintelles time slow.
Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's ARMS Fighter Will Be Revealed In Livestream Next Week
Re: CoroCoro Reveals The Silhouette Of The Brand New Mythical Pokémon
Is it just me or are legendary Pokémon so much less interesting than normal ones? The only thing they have is being promoted as special with stupid stats. With there being so many legendary Pokémon these all seem so pointless. And the fact that it's either extremely common or arbitrarily rare kinda ruins it too because you'll either never see it like some other mythicals or everyone has it so what's the point.

Re: Video: Let's Talk About Byleth In Smash Bros. And The Fourth House In Fire Emblem: Three Houses
"Fire emblem has too much representation"
I don't think this is entirely true.
Re: IGN Founder Offers Hint At One Of The Rumoured Wii U Ports Coming To Switch
@Deathstalker83 I would like to offer my condolences for paper Mario fans if you're having to resort to wanting a bad game just because they want it so badly.
Re: Birdo Joins Mario Kart Tour's Holiday Event As A Playable Character
@justin233 I agree. I really enjoy this game too. The roster truly is one of the best and thats undeniable. It might have a lot of costume characters but boy are the costumes diverse as well as the return of old and new characters, like Pauline, Birdo and Diddy Kong! I really hope these get carried over to make a massive roster!
Re: Google Play Votes Mario Kart Tour As One Of The 'Best Casual Games' For 2019
I for one, think this game is good fun.
Re: Ninja Thinks Pro Players And Streamers Who Cheat Should Be Treated Differently
I see his point? But his stakes are different is not a valid response. Because everyone has different stakes their personal life can't be taken into account for these things. You can't make exceptions for anyone in rules because what's the point in the rules?
Edit: some cases like in law exceptions are good but this is just a sport
Re: Poll: Have You Downloaded Mario Kart Tour On Your Mobile Device Yet?
Personally I really like this game, I think it's fun. The best thing I can praise it for is the roster of characters. It's the second largest roster to date and actually has good variety (including confirmed characters). While there's still mario and peach clones I find these ones more interesting than the ones in MK8DX.
With 6 characters that aren't in MKDX the game also only has a few characters not confirmed for this game from MK8DX are Pink gold peach, cat peach tanooki mario, Mii and the non mario characters.
And there's still more to come.
Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of September 2018
@Qwiist I think its more likely Mario Kart 9 will be an expanison for Mk8 deluxe. Maybe not called Mario kart 9 but theres not much a new installment could bring and new characters, courses and costumes are always welcome.
Re: Rumour: Unannounced Characters For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Have Possibly Been Leaked
Re: Rumour: Unannounced Characters For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Have Possibly Been Leaked
Re: Soapbox: It's Not Cool To Lock Pokémon Behind A Paywall
One thing you don't mention is how this encourages microtransactions for lets go players. If I want melmetal then I have to catch 134 Meltan and thats a lot of poke balls granted you can get them free. But 134 poke balls minimum...
Re: Soapbox: Huawei's Not The First Company To Vie For Nintendo's Portable Crown, And It Won't Be The Last
@NewAdvent The only issue is that the portable console they make would then compete with the playstations and be weaker. And people buy playstations for power not exclusives like Nintendos large library
