Mario Kart Tour has had a very successful first few months on the road, generating millions of dollars in revenue and even going on to be the most-downloaded free game on the Apple Store this year, despite launching in September. Now, it's getting even more recognition.
Google Play has listed the title in its 'Best Casual Games' list for 2019. The list is made up of five games in total, with Mario sitting alongside Golf Peaks, Toy Story Drop!, Vineyard Valley, and Fishing Life (which sounds like a cracking name for a website, if you ask us).
Nintendo seems to be rather proud of the listing, boasting about it on its social media channels earlier today:
If you haven't already, make sure to check out the London event which is now taking place inside Mario Kart Tour. Oh, and let us know if you've been enjoying your time with the app in the comments below.

Well, at least you have your April Fools gag lined up for next year. I want some fishing tips.
The standards must be pretty low then, if this cashgrab is considered one of the best casual games of 2019
They must have dug 6 feet down to set the bar so low that Mario Kart Tour got on this list...
Even us diehard Ninty fans are raising an eyebrow at pretty much all Nintendo's mobile offerings, especially this credit card drainer.
I don't get. If am going to be manipulated by a game then at least give us the real deal. Not this watered down crap that's in goddamn portrait mode.
@mariomaster96
If this cashgrab is the best they have on offer imagine how horrendous the rest must be.
the game is fine and all something to do when boarded in work but the £39 for a vitural kart is just gross to the extreme. This game could reduce all its prices by 90% and still be over priced
For the price of Mario Kart 8, you can instead get one character and a couple of chances to get a character that you want XD
And this is why mobile gaming is a lost cause.
I for one, think this game is good fun. Just because it has micro transactions doesn't mean the game play/ process of unlocking things isn't fun. Though game play is subjective.
However I dont find the argument that they should just give us real games a valid one because they simply aren't for that. They're to introduce people to the series while also providing a mobile suitable experience, not a watered down switch one.
Sounds normal for mobile gaming. This is why I stick to console and PC
Jesus, people.... ALL casual games are nothing more than cash grabs! Have you looked at any free-to-play casual games lately?
Mario Kart Tour IS BY FAR the best of the bunch.
Thank you @VexingInsanity !
Everyone here, this person gets it! How many of you people have even actually played the game versus just heard OTHER people complain about it?
I feel like people here are upset over mobile gaming rather than mario kart itself. This game has minimal monetization compared to things that top the revenue charts on mobile. heck even candy crush badgers you more. And the game actually plays well for a touch game imo. Just what I want for laying on the couch or sitting on bus. Im probably gonna play more when multiplayer is out.
It was fun when I had a trial, but the pacing is abhorrent without a subscription.
