Re: Talking Point: The Switch 2 Pre-Order Situation Sucks, But Can Nintendo Do Anything About It?

TwinFami

I got mine from Best Buy in-store pickup as I want to experience one last midnight launch before both being priced out next gen (I see the next PlayStation and Xbox being about $1,000) and because of my declining physical health. It took literally over an HOUR to be able to get in and I almost gave up and was getting dressed to go to GameStop at almost 2am when I was finally able to get in for in-store pickup. I keep being afraid of it being cancelled but so far, knock on wood, it hasn’t. The fact they are advertising consoles being available in store for the midnight launch gives me hope and makes me relax that there’ll be plenty of stock. It’s just been a damn nightmare.

Re: PSA: My Nintendo Store Switch 2 Invites Are Starting To Roll Out

TwinFami

@Zerodogg except there’s a LOT of us NSO subscribers, especially with the Expansion Pack which is their highest tier that aren’t getting in. Accounts filled with every first party game since Switch launch (as mine is), still no invite. Honestly, it’s insulting and a slap in the face. I don’t know what algorithm they’re using, but it’s crap. I get wanting to beat the scalpers but it should be done with consideration to their biggest fans first. Hell, I didn’t even get in for the Experiences in my area, but yet I was able to get in for the Switch and WiiU ones. I have a preorder at Best Buy (knock on wood), but I still would like to grab a GameCube controller. I’m luckier than a lot of others in that regard. But that doesn’t make it any less ridiculous and make me feel for others in my position who are getting shut out like all our money and years we spent with them means nothing. It’s like “thanks for your money, now ***** you, you don’t matter”. But we are still going to game regardless because we like the product, and that’s what ***** sucks.

Re: Nintendo Updates Its User Agreement To Crack Down On Emulation

TwinFami

It’s why as soon as I can pirate their *****, I do. I buy a game, it should be mine to do with as I want. And good luck trying to enforce this in court, especially in the EU which has laws against this and already went after Apple for trying to brick iPhones with third party parts installed (mainly screens). Seems these days, people in power and large companies love to just do first and deal with court later……

Re: Feature: From BOTW To TOTK - How The Switch Helped Me Overcome Mental Illness And Thrive

TwinFami

Goddamn…..

To even BEGIN to think about all the things the Switch and its various incarnations seen me through….

It’s been eight years but the toughest eight of my whole life.

When I was there at GameStop for the midnight launch (which closed a while after BTW), I had just entered a new relationship, I was starting the healing process from burying my grandfather who I long took care of, and unbeknownst to me, my life was about to change.

In those eight years, I survived the breakup of that relationship that lasted six years and broke me physically and emotionally, came out as trans, survived a global pandemic, political upheaval, burying two of my best friends, having another disappear on me only to reappear with significant health issues, my OWN health issues, etc etc.

My life today is drastically different to the point that not one trace of me is the same as it was that night I picked up my console.

As I get ready to pick up Switch 2 at midnight on June 5th, I’m picking it up as a different person. A changed person, a healing person. I celebrate the end of the most important era in my existence and make room for the new.

The Switch saw me through everything and through it I grew.

Sure I’ll be visiting the old from time to time I’m sure, but it’ll be the same as putting mom in the nursing home and going to visit on occasion.

This is why through all that Nintendo does wrong, through all the consoles I have, all the companies I’ve been through (been a gamer near 40 years), Nintendo will always be the one closest to my heart.

Re: Talking Point: With Prices Rising, Are Your Gaming Habits Changing?

TwinFami

I haven't really bought many games this generation. Maybe once or twice a year, there'll be one that interests me that I have to pay for. I have Game Pass Ultimate and a Series X, so anything I want to play, I get free. On top of that, I have a Steam Deck OLED so I take advantage of Steam sales. Most of the games I loved this gen have been indies so my habits won't change at all. One helpful hint is to grab game cards at warehouse clubs like BJ's and Costco. That's how I been stocking up for the Switch 2 launch as a $50 card is $47.99. Used to be that way for Steam cards but so many people (like me for my first one) kept buying them and saving as much as $150 on their Decks that the loophole got closed. Now Steam cards are face value at those places. Also, if you have Verizon Wireless or FiOS, you can get $15 of Play credit for $10. You can use that to get an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription from them and save $5 each month. When you're disabled, you always find ways to stretch your dollars.

Re: Poll: So, Did You Manage To Get A Switch 2 Pre-Order In? (North America)

TwinFami

After much aggravation and frustration, was FINALLY able to order the MKW bundle from Best Buy at around 1:42am EST. Called the bank and they basically showed that my available credit was lower by the amount paid and knock on wood, I still got my orders in of the Bundle, Pro Controller, Camera, 256GB MicroSD Express, and CyberPunk 2077 physical copy (want at least one physical game to show it on camera). I believe it was more because I have it set for pickup (as I wanted the midnight launch) rather than shipment. I had to do the line four times for the first four items as they’d only let you check out one item at a time. Finally finished up around 1:56am EST and bought Cyberpunk this afternoon when my finances were more finalized and figured out. I still won’t believe it until June 5th comes and I have it in my hands, but still. I planned this for months so I couldn’t give up. I would’ve waited on the GameStop line for twelve hours if I couldn’t make it in. I didn’t care.

@dskatter Dude, you’re a true friend. I’m saying that as someone who always does for others what I can. The world seriously needs more people like you. Especially how things have been rough for myself these past few months, I wish I had someone like you in my corner.

@TheBigK Just tell them you had diarrhea. Play some of those noises from YouTube on a separate device.

Re: Switch 2 Launch Day Delivery "Not Guaranteed" From Nintendo In The US

TwinFami

@dskatter same here. I’m disabled so I am on a fixed income. I had to basically wheel and deal since last November. My goal was the end of fiscal year (late March). But the person who owed me the most went down with a stroke so I had to sell off a few of my things just to make the $1,000 some odd to get the console, accessories, and games. Especially with the price increases because of the Trump tax. Raised everything about $100 more.

Re: Switch 2 Launch Day Delivery "Not Guaranteed" From Nintendo In The US

TwinFami

@dskatter I’m hoping. Been busting my ass and planning since last year. Things have been really rough health and life wise since January so I really need this to happen for me. It’s the one thing I been looking forward to to keep me going. Hardware I been good with them doing in store pickup. Got my Series X, PS5 Pro, Series X Galaxy unit, and the 30th Anniversary Slim through there. Also the PS Vita but that was the early bird unit and I was literally the ONLY one who preordered that through the store to the point I had to wait for the UPS guy to bring it there 🤣

Re: Watch: Got Questions About Switch 2? Ask Alex - Live!

TwinFami

I do have a question, but I think I missed the Q&A:

Since the Switch 2 uses magnets for the joy-con, how will that affect the magnetism of the device? Especially as someone who goes to a lot of doctor’s appointments and also collects tape media (VHS, Betamax, cassettes).
