Re: The Club Nintendo Rewards Are Now Updated for July

TreesenHauser

To folks that keep asking about the Elite rewards: According to a recent Google search, if Nintendo does the same as last year we'll hear about them on or around July 15th, and then we'll have at least a month from that time period to choose our rewards. Hopefully we get something good this year!

Re: Hacker Claims to Demonstrate an Exploit to Mod a Wii U System and Mario Kart 8

TreesenHauser

I know hackers don't necessarily equal cheaters, and I'm glad that this guy is learning a way to mess with font, text and music, but in a way it does concern me that this will eventually turn into a backdoor way to cheat and hack through a game like we saw in the Mario Kart Wii days. I flat-out quit playing that because of cheating hackers.

And the only reason it concerns me, despite their promises, is because if you look at this guy's other videos you can see examples of all the hacking and cheating he did in MKWii. He can make all the promsies he wants, but that isn't to say that one day if he finds a way to exploit MK8 any further like that he won't ever do so.

Me personally, I think MK8's fine the way it is. Custom tracks are one thing--if actual battle arenas were created that would rule--but I don't see a necessity in changing course names or the music. Developers spent a lot of time and money to make the game how it is today, why mess it up with terrible-sounding music and immature names?

Those are my two cents, anyway.

Re: Review: Wii Sports Club: Baseball + Boxing (Wii U eShop)

TreesenHauser

It's a shame that Boxing requires two Wii Remote Plus controllers in order to be fully realized. I still have yet to activate my 48-hour trial to activate both Baseball and Boxing, but I think I'll do so just to try Baseball out. Still considering getting the retail disc option since I never got around to buying any of the individual sports.

Re: Review: Kirby's Epic Yarn (Wii)

I miss playing this game. I think I'll have to get a used copy. An old friend and I actually went through the entire game and cleared it out, 100%. Sometime after that I decided to trade it in because I'm an idiot. >_<

Re: Nintendo Open To Minecraft on Wii U and 3DS, and Expanding Its Popularity in Japan

TreesenHauser

I agree with what @rjejr said--Yes to Wii U MInecraft, no to 3DS Minecraft. Wii U would be perfect for it, and I would definitely throw some good money down on a Wii U version of it. I played the PS3 version and thought it was awesome, but I can't help feeling like having a touch-screen for controls would make it even better. Throw in some Nintendo-exclusive skin and texture packs and it'll be even better than better!

As for 3DS Minecraft... yes, it has the touch-screen, but I can't see having marathon building and exploring sessions on a handheld. That's just me though.

Re: Review: Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition (Wii U eShop)

TreesenHauser

I recently played the SNES version at a friends house, and even though I got so ticked off at it and found the controls a bit stiff, I still enjoyed what I played. The graphics would look primitive by today's standards for sure, but like the original Star Fox I appreciate the visual style because for its time it looked amazing. With all of that said, I'm seriously considering this. Great review!

Re: Nintendo 64 Titles Heading to the Wii U Virtual Console

TreesenHauser

There's only one big reason why I hope N64 games arrive on Wii U Virtual Console: The controller options. Now that I have all my previous Virtual Console games on Wii U, I can't stand playing some of my 64 games using just the Classic Controller Pro. Star Fox 64's controls are a pain, and to an extent the same applies for the original Super Smash Bros. I simply can't stand using the Classic Controller for N64 games, I miss having a GameCube control option.

To be honest, if GameCube controllers were currently usable on Wii U I wouldn't have a need for N64 games on Wii U's VC.

Re: Mutant Mudds 3DS 'Deluxe' Update Has Been Approved in Both North America and Europe

TreesenHauser

Anyone who has doubts about getting this on the 3DS... I had my doubts before buying it for $5 when it was on sale during the holidays on the Wii U eShop, and it's awesome. I'm glad for 3DS owners that will be getting the Deluxe update soon, it just adds to the fun that the game already offers. It's got some difficulty to it, but it's far from impossible. Definitely worth a try if you have yet to play it, whether it's on 3DS or Wii U.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's System Updates Bring The Wii U to Another Level

TreesenHauser

@Player1 "It's ridiculous, there is the Wii U Pro Controller and then you can't use it for all games. Why try to shove it down people's throat? Super Mario Bros U cannot be played as First Player (Single Player) with a Pro Controller."

Just curious, how long has it been since you played New Super Mario Bros. U? Because Nintendo updated the game for Pro Controller compatibility a year ago and when I play it it's my go-to option, especially as a solo gamer.
