Re: Ubisoft Reconfirms Watch Dogs For Fall 2014 Release On Wii U

TreesenHauser

I'll still get it. A friend of mine has the PS3 version which he says is good. I still have yet to check it out though, who knows, maybe I'll try it out and find it uninteresting... but I doubt that because this sounds like the kind of game I could play for hours on end. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

"As you can see from the video, he also lists travelling the world, taking long baths and singing about Mario Kart 8 as some of his key interests and hobbies."

Sad part is, that's not too far off from my real life. Minus the traveling part. Thanks for the inclusion guys! I was laughing my MK-loving arse off at this.

And good luck to future participants!

Re: Nintendo Announces The GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U

TreesenHauser

So that needs two USB ports to work? sigh

That kinda stinks. I'm already using the two on the back for a USB hard drive, and soon I'll need a LAN adapter to experience the best possible online connection for my Wii U. So I'll already have one of the two on the front used. Oh well, here's to hoping that controller PDP is making utilizes the connection on the Wii Remote. If not, oh well. I'd rather use a Pro Controller I'm thinking, but GameCube would be a great option yet again.

Don't take this like I'm whining or anything though, I think this is a great idea!

Then again, it's not like I'll always be playing Smash Bros online, I've always enjoyed local multiplayer the best.

Re: Reaction: Mario Kart 8 Accused Of Poor Sales Potential, Ruining Battle Mode And Racism

TreesenHauser

To the three criticisms...
(1) Well, that's obvious. The Wii U isn't doing too good right now, so it would take a whole lot of console sales to have Mario Kart 8 match up to previous console entries in terms of sales. We didn't need a pie chart, a graph, or even a hastily written opinion piece to tell us any of that. Though I am confident that Mario Kart 8 will help the Wii U in some way, I know more people that are holding off on a Wii U until Smash Bros.

(2) While it's slightly disappointing that Arenas won't return for Battle Mode, it won't affect my Mario Kart experience too much because I don't really go for Battle Mode when I play Mario Kart. And even if I do, this iteration of Battle Mode seems like it'll be mixing it up by pitting players against each other on a selection of courses. It'll be interesting, it won't "ruin" the game.

(3) Leave the political and social issues out of my kart-racing game. Neither have any place in Mario Kart. Besides, where were those complaints during THE LAST SEVEN MARIO KART GAMES? Granted, the internet wasn't much of a thing during the SNES and N64 era, but I still didn't hear friends or family going "Man, where are the black people in Mario Kart? How racist." Besides, there's a character selection called "Mii," which allows one's own custom character to appear in the game. This argument is invalid.

None of those three criticisms will ruin my enjoyment of Mario Kart 8. I won't let them.

Re: Nintendo Download: 15th May (North America)

To anyone who might be ready to complain about this week's lack of VC games on Wii U; if you've never played Adventures of Lolo, look up a video of it and decide for yourself if it might be worth your time. If it is, by all means download it, I promise it's worth it!

Re: Philips Claims Wii And Wii U Infringe Two Of Its Patents, Seeks Ban In The United States

TreesenHauser

My sister and her husband bought a Philips HDTV, which stopped working for them less than two weeks later. They got a replacement which had dead pixels and eventually dead lines within the same time period, and Philips flat-out refused to replace it after that. Plus, anything Philips I recall ever using or buying was awful. Universal remotes, DVD players, even their HDMI and other cables, all garbage.

So of course Philips would try something like this. Besides, considering they were responsible for the rip-off known as the CD-i along with those unspeakable excuses for Zelda games for it, I think Nintendo should sue THEM.

Re: Weirdness: Gaze in Wonder at Junkboy's 16-Bit "Demake" Art

@FalconPunch Ironically, I liked the story the best. Samus' portrayal could have been better I guess, but it wasn't so bad. My biggest complaint involved the controls. I rented it through GameFly and was so excited to play it, I liked the idea of a 2.5D-ish Metroid with FPS Wiimote controls, but to me it was better on paper than it was by the time the game rolled around. I was just so continually frustrated by it.

Then again, with the fanbase that has developed for the game I've been thinking about giving it another go.
