Re: Talking Point: What's Your Comfort Food Game?

ToonStuff

Sonic Adventure has been a big one for me recently. I had always liked it, but now I find myself coming back to it pretty often, and I've begun to see just how underrated it is. Some others include BotW, Monster Hunter World, SM64, and probably some others I'm forgetting.

Re: Random: The Pokémon Company Re-Uploads Its Pokémon Unite Videos, And Fans Aren't Happy

ToonStuff

It kinda makes me mad to see people calling those who dislike the announcement/game "toxic" or "nonfans". Fans of a particular franchise don't have to like everything about a franchise to be fans. I'm a Sonic fan, so does that mean I like every Sonic game that's ever been made? No, absolutely not. Does that make me less of a Pokemon fan because I have a negative opinion about Unite? No. Being a fan doesn't mean that you have to suck up to a company and love everything they do. The only way companies will change and improve is if we, the consumers, tell them that we won't stand for what they've been doing. If we don't, TPC will continue to run Pokemon further into the ground because nothing is stopping them. Fans are more than dollar signs and yes men, they are people with thoughts and opinions, and we have the right to express them.

Re: The Pokémon Unite Presentation Has Already Been Disliked 150,000 Times

I mean, it looks kinda fun, I guess. I definitely think people had their hopes too high, and I think that contributed some to the backlash, but it was probably mostly the Tencent deal. I really don't see a need for this partnership besides trying to make a break in the Chinese market (a market with TPC is doing just fine without, by the way). TPC could've easily funded it themselves and hired an indie studio/asked Nintendo for help with development, yet they chose the option that they probably know would anger a lot of people. Ultimately, TPC doesn't care, they want Chinese money, and they will get it no matter how many people they anger.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The Nintendo Direct Mini?

ToonStuff

A solid Direct overall. Xenoblade looks incredible, I popped off for the Arms reveal (as I do with basically every Smash announcement, but this one hit harder because it was a series I had wanted to get in since before Ultimate launched). There were a lot of neat smaller things too. I've been playing Panzer Dragoon and have had a blast, and I'm super interested in Good Job and Ninjala. It was super cool to see the Borderlands games, Boishock, Xcom, Catherine, and Jedi Acedemy come to Switch, but I don't really care about them that much. But if buying Catherine will get Persona 5 on Switch, then I will happily do so.

Re: Sega Celebrates 60th Anniversary With New Website, New Character And "Special Content" Tease

I owe a lot of where I am today to SEGA, mainly to Sonic. If it weren't for Sonic getting me into games at a young age, I don't know if I would be nearly as involved in games as I am, or if I would even like the same games I do now. Sure, it's a series that's hard to love sometimes, but I can always look forward to future projects and love what came before, which I think sums up SEGA as a whole. My only real complaint with their whole company is that they focus way to hard on reselling classic Genesis/Megadrive games. Those games are awesome, but the Saturn and Dreamcast had some great games too.

Thanks for everything SEGA, now please remake Sonic Adventure

Re: Exit The Gungeon Brings Elevator Action To Nintendo Switch Today

@PickledKong64 This showcase didn't really have much of anything interesting to me. All of the other ones had at least one thing that I was interested in, Cuphead, Axiom Verge 2, Untitled Goose Game, and probably some others I'm forgetting. I was really expecting Silksong to be that super interesting to me, but then it just never showed up.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 14th)

ToonStuff

I’ve had the itch to play Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 recently. Those are some of my favorite games, so it’s been a lot of fun to go back to them. Among them are my regular go-to games, Mario Maker, New Leaf, Dreams, BotW, and Three Houses (which I just finished up the Cindered Shadows DLC with).

Re: Miyamoto Reveals The Moment He Knew He Could Trust Illumination With A Super Mario Movie

ToonStuff

@Muddy_4_Ever Yeah, their practices really suck. It sets a bad precedent for the industry, that you don't need to put heart and passion into your animated works for them to be successful, which is part of the reason why so many sub-par animated movies have come out over the past few years (Playmobil, Arctic Dogs, Norm of the North, etc.)

However, I think that with Nintendo keeping very close tabs on it, I want to say that they'll keep Illumination from taking any of the shortcuts they usually do.

Probably not, but I can dream

Re: Random: Brie Larson Seems As Excited For Animal Crossing: New Horizons As We Are

ToonStuff

Yes, sexism is a bad thing. Yes, there are a lot of places in the world where women and minority groups are treated unfairly. But the problem I have with modern feminists such as Larson is their definition of "sexism" and their inability to actually make any changes that matter.

We live in a world where a guy spreading his legs while sitting on a subway is considered sexist, which to me is astonishingly stupid. There are women dying every day to their abusive husbands in the Middle East, but western feminists are more concerned with cancelling a slightly suggestive Transformers toy (yes, that happened).

That's not even to mention the horrors done to the entertainment industry. It's cool to give women and minorities figures to look up to, but it's not cool to degrade and antagonize white people and men in the process. It's also not cool to change pre-established characters to fit the agenda you're trying to push.

When fighting sexism, the slogan shouldn't be "Woman good, man bad", that in it of itself is sexist. It should be "Woman good, man just as good", that's what gender equality is.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch Turns 3: Challenges Await, But What A Ride So Far

ToonStuff

I'm one of the lucky people that had to sit outside of Best Buy for an hour to get my Switch day one

I the only thing I regret is not upgrading to the better battery life model, my current Switch is pretty beat up

To those of you who have gotten a second Switch, is it worth it to wait for all your games to transfer over from your original? That's the one thing that's keeping me from buying the new model.
