@NoxAeturnus The Switch console by itself is only about 300g. If you look at the PSVR in weight it's about 600g held up by your neck. If Nintendo really is going to release a shell that the Switch fits into (described loosely in the patent) there's no way it will be heavier than the PSVR. Even the Vive and Oculus Rift are between 470-560g.
It should be stated this is for US only, NOT Canada. It says so right on the official Mini Mario and Friends amiibo Challenge website. It kinda irks me because I was really looking forward to this game and was holding off on green yarn Yoshi to get this freebie with it. I guess Nintendo doesn't want our Canadian money, we'll have to wait until April 28 I suppose.
So Aonuma wasn't even able to tell his own son that he was working on an HD version? Wow, Nintendo is really serious about preventing leaked information!!
Can you actually use badges for folder icons? I've been dreaming about that since folders were a thing. I hate have a single letter on all my folders, looks very ugly.
@MarioPhD http://captaintoad.nintendo.com This game doesn't mention online features at all on the website. I think Star Fox will have something more than just Miiverse functionality.
I'm glad this doesn't have motion controls. Talented developers shouldn't waste their time shoe-horning things like that in just so casuals 'might' enjoy those controls more. It's a control stick and 1 button with simple controls!! That is a pretty casual control method. I rented Mario Power Tennis for Wii because I loved the version on GameCube. I played it a whole 10 minutes. It was really lame that your movement was controlled by the game.
@rjejr @jariw Rather than going to the lobby you can select "Stages" on the gamepad right after Callie and Marie's intro and the mode will be listed there. It saves some time rather than having to open the lobby.
@rjejr @vio Yes it doesn't have 5.1 support and still doesn't with the update. It is quicker I've noticed and haven't experienced any crashes. I would like to use the Wii remote also. The wife uses the Wii Netflix in the bedroom and prefers it to using the gamepad that needs a charge every few hours of use. The Wii has also had profiles for probably 2 years!!
@JamesCoote There is an option in Wii U sound settings where you can hook up a regular Wii A/V cable to output sound to. If you don't have one you can order them through the Nintendo store website.
@DonSerrot The 'TV' button is useful. . .as long as you don't have a surround sound system. I'm still holding out hope Nintendo will get their poop together and add support for AV receivers.
God I played Perfect Dark to death on the N64. A few years ago me and a few friends got it out to play some death matches, I still had my character saved on my controller pak. After a couple matches my one friend wanted to make his own character. He accidentally deleted my character because someone else was fiddling with their controller. I died a little bit inside after that happened. There's a lot more similarities than people think. Prefect Dark innovated with each gun having a secondary function (which Splatoon is doing), I don't recall any FPS doing that before it came out. The guns in Goldeneye were so bland compared to PD. I see some inspiration from it put into Splatoon with the turret, reminded me of the laptop gun. I think Nintendo may have tried to make this a FPS but because of the ink-swim mechanic they decided to do it all in 3rd person.
@White-Wash As @Hyperstar96 said the other teams were very pretentious. I may have confused Team Meat with Blow and Fish. But yes, that was the movie. I still can't understand where Team Meat has any idea of why Nintendo would put their character in Smash Bros. It would be like me creating the character "Stickman", release a game for PC and then go on Twitter and proclaim that Nintendo should put him in Smash Bros. It makes as much sense as that.
This story makes me want to not vote for him even more. I watched a documentary about Team Meat a couple years ago. Let's just say I refuse to support them on any way after watching it.
@Darksvenn Not to my knowledge. I grew up with Nintendo systems and had only played Sega consoles at friend's houses. I think the GameCube controller was a huge innovation too with the large 'A' button. So simple but man, that made certain games so effortless to control. It's a shame no one copied that idea.
@Peach64 I would have to disagree with that point. The SNES controller added the shoulder buttons and the N64 added a control stick. Those were 2 innovations found on every home console since, even by competitors.
As someone with sleep apnea this interests me greatly! I am currently using a sleep device mask developed by ResMed and although it helps I hope to one day not need it and still get a good night's rest. Nintendo partnering with ResMed is smart because I believe they are a leader in this field. I'm not sure they will be selling this at your local Wal-mart though, they will probably target sleep labs and get it to the people that could really benefit from it.
I agree with gatorboi, the "TV" button is really unique and I'm glad it is on the gamepad. I just wish they put more effort into expanding it's idea rather than the dismal "TVii" feature.
I would love if they released an adapter that would plug into the bottom of the gamepad and connected to a TV via HDMI. That would allow you to play Wii U in a 2nd room on the big screen. The resolution wouldn't be up to par with the TV connected directly to the console but the games would certainly be playable. That would convince me to buy an extra gamepad. What else could they be planning for that EXT slot on the gamepad?
Nintendo TVii is useless. It's slow, hard to navigate, and the menus are just plain ugly. I'm waiting for a more robust universal remote experience Nintendo. Add customizable buttons and support for AV receivers.
Am I the only one annoyed by the term "cross-buy"? It reminds me of PlayStation, didn't they coin that term? Anyways, cross-buy (or whatever Nintendo will call it), folders, not having to use gamepad in the e-shop are all features I would like to see. My most sought-after addition however, please Nintendo. . .add AV receiver support for the remote function. I want too be able to control my volume with the gamepad!!

I didn't think they were that much bigger than other amiibo. You can see them scanned in with the gamepad in the Nintendo Direct.
