Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility

Yeah as everyone above is saying - I don’t agree with this point. These days consoles are transitioning more towards a service that is iterative (like a subscription but for consoles). Keeping that ecosystem is really important to the longevity of a system these days. PC, Xbox, Sony and heck all digital phones are designed to be replaced and keep all data and account information. If the next Nintendo console does not support the Switch line I honestly will be less engaged in it overall. I personally think Nintendo is invested in keeping the ecosystem as they have mentioned all their online services will be included and continue to be upgraded on the next system.

Re: Poll: Will You Be Getting Pokémon Scarlet And Violet's DLC?

Thorthegreat12

I hate to be that guy but honestly I never plan on getting any Pokémon DLC until they prove to me they are invested in making good titles. SV pushed the bar so low to the point I can’t see myself ever playing a Pokémon game again. This is crushing as I have always had a fondness for the series and have stuck through up until this point.

Re: Next Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, 23rd September 2021

Expecting to see:
-Metroid Dread Trailer
-Bayonetta 3
-Zelda 35th (something)
-Resident Evil Outrage
-Resident Evil 2/3 Cloud
-More Pokémon Trailers (both games)
-N64/Gameboy Online Subscription
-A Wii U port (maybe Zelda/Xenoblade)
-Xenoblade 3

I feel like these are realistic to the current expectations from Nate the Hate and also my own guesses. We shall see!

Re: Video: Unboxing The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Joy-Con Controllers, amiibo And Game

@Dezzy Psychology. Sharing the same moment with someone (online or in person), we can feel a similar happiness with the ‘new’ feel. A lot of effort goes into box/case design to subconsciously make consumers crave the same feeling. Apple is best known for it with its iconic boxes and it adds to their reputation with dozens of unboxing videos hitting ‘Trending’ on YouTube regularly. An interesting thought - certainly has made me self-reflect! 😂

Re: Nintendo's Switch OLED Dock Can Be Purchased Separately

Thorthegreat12

@Ghost_of_Hasashi Yep - totally get that. Just thinking on a marketing end it won’t convey much difference to consumers. Nearly everyone I know could not care less about battery or screen compared to price point. That’s why I personally think they should justify price with spec differences as well. OLED is well worth it but to many it means nothing. Really excited for this personally but was hoping for a new chipset (Age of Calamity’s frame rate is an embarrassment ).

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2: Everything We Know So Far

Nobody is pointing out there are no visible shrines or towers. Also the segments where ‘Link’ is in the sky, the Tabantha area has no visible Stable where it should be. This has led me to believe (combined with Bill Trinens note on the title) that we will go back 10 000 years ago to the era where the Sheikah were banished. We see Zonai ruins in the sky, but much less decayed - I feel this is another justification for the possible time mechanic inclusion. Going between old/current Hyrule will being that freshness I feel a lot of fans were looking for with the reuse of the map. Obviously this is all a theory, but I have looked in depth into many elements of the trailer - the whole concept of inversion being a repeated motif is important! The music and continuity of events in the trailers are played back and fourth and I feel this is all speaking into a broader thematic meaning. Time will tell - but tell me what you guys think!

Re: New Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Footage Shown, Aiming For A 2022 Switch Release

Thorthegreat12

@Yoshilapin I think you are reading into this too much - they are giving us a short ‘hype reel’ to get us on board but refraining largely due to Skyward Sword HDs release as it is the impending game. The focus should be on it as they don’t want to cannibalise any potential sales for Skyward Sword HD. This year isn’t over and BOTWs sequel will be featured in more events (they said they were giving ‘more information’ this year and I think that is still to be fulfilled).

Also have a sneaking suspicion that Skyward Sword HD will work it’s way into the game through narrative inclusion (for example, the robot featured in the trailer). I reckon the Loftwing amiibo will be functional in this game too; working similar to Wolf Link.

Re: A Resident Evil Producer Is Leaving Capcom For Bungie

Love how his likeness is used in Resident Evil 7 as one of the Sewer Gators! This is sad for me as I found his work with reviving the formula very important (in saying that, not discounting the countless others involved) - I liked his unique voice and perspective on the franchise in a time where it had grown a bit stale. Wishing all the best for him!

Re: id Software Will Share The Release Date Of DOOM Eternal For Switch "Pretty Soon"

@SpringLand I just wasn’t impressed with the overall performance (framerate) of the game. Dips way to low in many circumstances- but since they’ve patched it quite a bit my complaints are more towards the gameplay itself. In saying all of this, I have played all the Bethesda ports extensively because they are incredible given the hardware and the handheld play is generally fantastic!
