@antlion The scenery looks great, and the music and sound appear to be awesome, but from everything I’ve seen the animation looks like it came from late PS3/early PS4 days.
I’ve just been buying store cards at Sam’s, Costco, etc. when they have decent discounts. Not necessarily huge savings, but rarely is on Nintendo stuff.
@Strawblaze If I had to guess, I’d say somewhere around 50% after you figure in all the engineering time required to get the games running, the hardware design, and making it all work together.
Not saying this is you, but most people don’t realize the amount of R&D that goes in to something like this. Especially for what is basically a limited run for nostalgia nuts like myself. Don’t forget to include packaging, advertising, and freight, both from the factory to the warehouse, and from the warehouse to your door. Material costs are low, engineering costs are high.
@Dimjimmer My guess, this is probably work reserved for in-terms and/or junior developers. Once they prove themselves here they move them on to bigger and better projects. Until someone new comes along this work just sits there.
@Strawblaze it does seem crazy at first, but not when scale of manufacturing and purchase of additional content are added to the equation.
To simplify things, Nintendo is going to sell a lot of these, but probably not in the same numbers as the Meta headset. Also, Meta headsets are sold at a loss (or low profit margin if any profit at all) in the plan that owners need to purchase games for it to function. In addition they get to collection more information on you and turn around and sell that to advertisers.
As we all know Nintendo will not sell anything at a loss. There are no additional purchases to cover for a loss/low profit margin. So they need to make a profit up front on each unit sold.
@Dr_Awkward who said anything about the sex of the character? Save the make believe battles for the games. This game failed for the same reasons Disney Star Wars has failed. Characters no one cares about, and poor quality control.
@Dr_Awkward Screeching? That’s what you want to go with? People said their piece about them. And the people weren’t wrong. The QC on SW was a complete joke. And let’s be honest , if you’re going to have a Han Solo game, put Han in it.
@Pillowpants I wouldn’t say corporate greed, it’s more like corporate decisions. Give the people what they’re not asking for, and do it as lazily as possible. I wouldn’t call that greed. I think corporate arrogance is more fitting.
Generally speaking I’m fine with Nintendo charging for updates when there’s work to be done. That said, charging for the upgrade when the games were developed side by side, and you know there’s going to be a ton of Switch2’s underneath the Christmas tree, just feels wrong.
@electrolite77 You think the number is that high? I think most of the gaming world will continue on not realizing they’re supposed to be outraged by that. 😉
For that kind of money just get the official Pro 2 controller and be able to wake the consol, NFC, and a headphone jack. (Don’t know if you can replace the battery in it.)
@Ellie-Moo I literally am in the process of doing what you’re thinking. I am getting my butt handed to me in Battles. Despite being top 2-3 in my group, I’ve only won one game. I hope this patch helps. Still fun though.
@SwitchplayerJohn They do come available from time to time, but you have to be quick to nab one. Finally got one after years of giving up. Don’t know why they are always so short supplied. They must make them 10 at a time.
I know this thread is a bit old, but has anyone tried it on Switch 2 hardware? The trilogy is currently on sale for $23.99. I think for that price it’s worth it for the first two alone.

Are we getting a true physical release or just a crappy key card?

A lot goes in to “a simple piece of plastic.”

It’s a mess out there. Thank you accountants, business managers, and often hiring the lowest common denominator staff to work on these projects.

Anything else exists purely in your head.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade On Switch 2
So help me out here. You have VII Remastered, which was just released with VIII in a dual cart in December. How does this differ?

@Yoshi3 Nah, we like both. Fortunately for us we get to have them both, just sometimes with a little more covering them up than normal. 👍🏼

Hardware update, 2-3 years? Maybe longer if it continues to sell as well as it does.
