Removing third party games already on eshop is not really going to fly as then the value of Gamepass/Xcloud goes down so doesn't benefit Microsoft.

Also the point I am raising is if people have access to a large library of games for a set amount each month then they don't need to purcahse any other games, yes Nintendo games included, so Nintendo loses out.

Also if you are playing online games on Xcloud/Gamepass do you need a Xbox Live Gold subscription or the Nintendo Switch online subscription?

Too many variables, too much potential for loss in sales for games on the eshop, never gonna happen.

Xcloud/Gamepass would eat into Nintendo's own game sales. Why would people pay the prices for third party games, or even Nintendo's own games, on Switch it they have access to a large library of games for 15 quid a month (or whatever it is).

So Nintendo would be losing out on money from their own games sales and the 30% cut from a lot of potential third party game sales on the eshop.

I don't think even a 50% cut of the subscription fee for Gamepass/Xcloud would cover the potential losses.

Difference is Free to Start games and DLC benefit Nintendo.

Gamepass/Xcloud on Nintendo platforms will not benefit Nintendo.

Those are individual games priced individually and not streaming services so Nintendo have not lied about that.

Also the tweet is clearly about game streaming services not the likes of Hulu.

Of course it won't happen.

Nintendo is all about videgames and relies on the strength of its own videogames series and them selling well.

Why on earth would they allow Microsoft cloud/Gamepass onto Switch to eat into Nintendo's own sales. Remember they get 30% of sales from third parties too.

Edit: Now I have tried it, I am glad I did.

It is a cool game, not a looker but the sense of speed and momentum is great and the controls are very responsive and it has a nice chill soundtrack. Ended up playing for two hours without realising which is always the sign of a good game.

Would pick up on sale.

A relationship between Microsoft and Nintendo already exists. From being the first to agree cross platform play, having Microsoft games on Switch such as Ori and Super Lucky Tale, and Banjo in Smash. So doesn't necessarily mean anything new. Nintendo will never allow Gamepass on Switch.

When Xbox gets some worthwhile exclusives then I will give the Series X a look. That seems to be a while off still.

Gamepass I have no interest in as I have enough of a backlog as is without actually subscribing to a whole new one.

I can't stand procedurally generated games normally but this looks like an instance where it will work because it is about telling a story rather than fighting hordes of enemies or the like.

See I am not sure I would go as far as say better value for money for MS and Sony over Nintendo as a lot of the Nintendo games mean a lot more to me than games available on Xbox or Sony platforms. It isn't always just about money saved but is the money spent actually worth it.

That is why Nintendo does get away with it as their first party games are just magic in the main!

Yeah you are correct. For "AAA" third party titles I would mostly get them for the PS4 although somewhat ironically I played Doom 2016 on Switch first, loved it and then bought it for PS4 for 60fps.

There are plenty of third party games I would prefer on Switch though for handheld mode but usually the more undemanding games like Hollow Knight so they are not overly compromised.

Big thing for me is exclusives and for me Sony and Nintendo are leagues ahead of Microsoft so I currently have my PS4/ Switch combo hopefully soon to be a PS5/ Switch combo, which provides the best of all worlds.

Also regarding Gamepass, I just have no interest in a games subscription service. My backlog between my two current consoles is insane! As I love playing games online I have Sony throwing me a couple of games a month already on top of my possibly hundreds of games on both systems.

If it is your first console though then a Series S with Gamepass is a great deal no doubt.

Until Microsoft are able to provide a worthwhile bunch of exclusive games from all their studio acqusitions then it is 250 quid too much.

I am sticking with Sony and Nintendo for now.

If I recall there was originally only only theme and then they started doing special events to unlock more and eventually introduced the ticket system which you could earn through daily play to unlock the previous special themes.

The fact all the Pac-Man themes are available day one doesn't bode well for that approach.

It took a while for Tetris 99 to offer the themes via tickets or special events through the NSO free battle game. Might be the same here but then again this is a Bandai Namco release rather than Nintendo and maybe they are not as forthcoming with that approach.

Gave it a try and got bored after 2 games.

To be fair Pac-Man has never been a favourite of mine.
