Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The "Cloud Versions" Of Kingdom Hearts On Switch?

Syndrome

I myself don't like this decision although it's completely understandable from a bussiness point of view. SE saw the the big profit that can come from the Switch's huge user base and decided to port games that otherwise wouldn't be possible, like GOTG and KH3(maybe?) and went with cloud version and didn't bother wasting resourses on actually developing a port. Minimum effort for the maximum profit. The only way that this can be mitigated is by people voting with their wallets aka not bying. But we all know that it won't happen

P.S. If this and GOTG sell well don't be surprised if you see announcements similar to this one for games like Tomb Raider or FFXV in the future

Re: Talking Point: What's Going To Be Nintendo's Big Game For Christmas 2020?

Syndrome

@Dang69 Just a couple of months ago Retro hired their lead character designer and a few days ago their lead external enviroment artist. They also still have job listings open for major spots in the dev team like lead graphics engineer, lead technical engineer and lead animator among others. This indicates that the game is way too early into developent cycle, probably into conceptual phase. Even if all these people were hired today it would still need 2-3 years for such a game to be developed and tested properly. So yeah, i don't think people in general understand how far away is the day when we see MP4 in retail.
I don't claim to be an expert in these matters btw. It's just my opinion which i've formed after puting the little pieces of info together. I might be wrong. But i highly doubt it.

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Make The 'Switch Sacrifice'?

Syndrome

Personally i don't care about portability. I use my Switch as a home console(with a few rare exceptions) and i only play games that were meant to be played on it with optimal performance. And i'm perfectly happy with that. It's what i bought it for. Every AAA third party title is played on my pc as i believe that these games shouldn't be played in handheld. You're loosing too much of the experience they offer. As is the case with many Nintendo games(i.e. BOTW, Astral Chain etc). My stance on portability is this: just because it exists as an option it doesn't mean it's worth it in every single case.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Capcom Didn't Like The Idea Of A Street Fighter Character In Mortal Kombat, "Wasn't A Good Fit"

Syndrome

Tbh if you add Third Strike in the mix there are quite a few wierd ass characters that could fit in MK(Necros, Twelve, Q). But if there was ever a crossover i highly doubt they would go for c-tier fighters instead of the more recognizable ones. But the real problem as others have mentioned are the fatalities. Capcom wouldn't want their characters being ripped apart and humiliated in every possible way. This is the same reason why we'll also never see a Nintendo character in MK.

Re: Blizzard Is Indeed Bringing Overwatch 2 To The Nintendo Switch

Syndrome

@TheAwesomeBowser I'm willing to bet that won't be the case. As cool as it looks the game feels more like an expansion to OW1 than a true sequel. It runs on the same engine and most of the assets(heroes, maps, skins etc) will be transferred from the first game. So i hope it's not that far down the road.

Re: Metroid Prime 4 Dev Retro Studios Hires Halo Character Modeller As New Lead Artist

Syndrome

@Toshiro_Baloney Have you even played a Halo game? The lansdscapes and vistas in these games are some of the most memorable i've seen in video games over the years. The major difference between the two is that Metroid has a bit more color(which is understandable since it's a Nintendo franchise). Even some of the enemies like the grunts and jackals have similar design aethsetics with the space pirates f.e.

Re: Port Specialist Virtuos Convinced Obsidian To Bring The Outer Worlds To Switch

@Jim_Purcell It runs at 1080p, stable 30fps on very high settings on my gtx 970 and 5 year old AMD proccessor. Plus, as you mentioned, it's UE4. I'm pretty sure with a bit of twinkling here and there it will run just fine on the Switch. It's also very bug-free and well optimized.
All in all a very solid 3d party port and an excellent addition to the sytem's ever growing library.
