Does this mean you can no longer get Netflix discs? The reason I ask is I know there was a deal where you get 20 Nintendo Points for registering the disc with Club Nintendo...I'm wondering if that incentive is going to disappear...
Not like it matters. How many bookmarks can one person buy, anyway?
@Bass - I'd have to disagree. You'd only need one free hand/finger to execute these moves...I'd say all but the absolute best SF player would get a substantial advantage with this scheme...hoping it's not available in online play, or is only available as its own game type.
GOOD! Good good good good. Downloading the update now--gonna play again
I'm guessing the kinda weird screen layout is more due to the total resolution of the screen/doubling of original graphic fidelity and can't be addressed? I refer to the inability to see most of the bottom tile on virtually every map...haven't checked yet, but will shortly.
At any rate, glad this could happen.
Good decision to lock the extras, too! Kinda puzzled as to why they were unlocked from the start...not really bad, but seemed kinda strange to give people the option of tackling Sanctuary before even knowing the second ending could exist...
@wooton - was I the only person who read this as written in a hilariously sarcastic tone? "Seven titles are currently available, and play through your web browser using the arcane art of emulation, as opposed to the undying salvation of the Living Christ." - I mean come on...
Granted 70 points would be overpriced for a Sonic game... I have this evil hope that it's actually 1800 or 2000 when it comes out here on Monday. Hell they should sell it for 1500 with only the first level playable, then offer the remaining 3 levels as 500 point DLC. It works for Square Enix games.
Maybe then people will open their eyes and say "oh wow Nintendo's kinda been gouging us on Wiiware/VC for years...how didn't I notice til now?"
@slap - I agree. I think these comments of "ported MT framework!" are largely overblown and BS, as the graphics I've seen so far don't look any better than anything I've seen on the Wii (which couldn't even come close to replicating RE5's engine) - the only change is for the low resolution to work in its favor...and even so, given the double-horizontal-res thing needed for the 3D effect, I can't see that mattering much either.
I think we're gonna get a gimped, substantially less powerful MT framework. After all, SF 4 doesnt' really look much better than Tatsu vs. Capcom, and running it at lower res than either of the above can't be that hard.
1200 points is too expensive, and Nintendo is way too idiotic to ever run sales on anything, so it looks like I ignore the fact that Nintendo even has a downloadable game service yet again.
I wish I could get back all the money I've spent on DSiWare and WiiWare...I seriously don't ever play any of the games. Rytmik was cool, and FF4 TAY, despite ludicrous overpricing, was fun. That's it. Every other game in either service has been under an hour of entertainment, then pushed into the deep recesses of my SD card and never played again.
/goes and fires up MM10, which was purchased for a reasonable price on PSN, again
Ehh....I can't see how fixed controls could fundamentally change this game enough for me to want to purchase it. I played the demo on Iphone and it didn't do much for me....great to see that it got a good review though!
@PSI - agreed. I've liked each iteration less--the first was a really clean hybrid platformer/puzzler...each game since has just been a hectic tapping affair that isn't any fun A Mario game were I don't actually get to control Mario cannot a Mario game be.
Wouldn't it technically be the fifth game, too, counting the original GB version?
"for those ready to bitch"...kinda passive-aggressive douchey. When you charge 12 bucks for a simple sidescroller and it isn't perfect (considering that the original was...and 1 dude did it...and it was free...) I will bitch all day and night thank you very much. Possibly on into the next night.
That said, I'm glad the music's getting fixed. Hopefully it'll be easier not to have aural-molestation with the bouncing triangles given the static speakers (not variable like home audio setups) on the DSi. Helpful tip for Nicalis - if you listen to a game's audio before you release it, you catch things like improper looping and deafening sound effect build-up.
NeoShinobi made a good point...Chances are (especially given the overpricing) it'll end up either as a package deal or on sale through PSN or XBLA. Nintendo, however, never has sales, so it's looking like the Wiiware release is the wrong way to go for multiple reasons.
I feel like the developers are telling me I'll regret purchasing this iPhone port....gonna wait for reviews, as the iPhone version felt quite clunky (although iPhone controls will do that to even the best of games)
@Lu - stop complaining about Americans, ungrateful Brit. You got Mystic Quest this week.
FFMQ is way less a SaGa game than an FF game...it doesn't have the same feel at all.
This is one of those games where I know/agree with the fact that it's a 7/10 game but I still love it to death. I might give this one a courtesy play if we haven't gotten it in the US in a few months
Been through the game 3 times now--regular, hard, and hard speedrun--hasn't happened any of the three times. Guess I'm lucky...
Also, why would you need to start the game over again?
Also--Nintendo! Thanks for the actual hard drive space and implementation of the 10-years-old ability to update games with issues. That's one of the many things that makes both your console and your online service/offerings so cutting edge and comparable to 360/PS3.
@BJ - that I can believe. Pirates are normally the most vocal/entitled among the bunch, despite contributing to nothing but the continually rising prices/costs of developing games. First to complain, last to pay---love that logic. "This game broke my homebrew channel wtf!? I only use it for leet apps and not piracy!!" Just like people that buy waterpipes from headshops use them for tobacco. Nice try.
Mega Man 2 was easy....and from what I recall from my somewhat limited experience with the game, the difficulty was more due to an awful main weapon/physics than genuine difficulty. Given Nicalis' single-game track record of sub-par remakability, I can't say this one's even on my radar.
@Kid A - mashing the same button for 10 hours wouldn't do much for me on either platform tbh. I want straight 2d, maybe presented in 2.5 d. You just can't have the wall-bombing exploration Metroid needs without straight 2d--Other M taught me that.
@Soul - ...it's Halo with character customization. It's story/presentation are still lightyears behind Half Life 2 and it's 6 years old. Also, Other M wasn't a 2D shooter or an FPS. I guess by only comparing it with other console FPSes you insulate it from damage a bit...personally I don't see what makes it so unique.
1) Golf is about as entertaining as contracting herpes without having sex. Golf videogames somehow manage to be less fun than that. 2) We bought this game last year, the number was just different. 3) Everyone hates EA. I'm much more apt to avoid any game they make, especially when it comes out every year. 4) Tiger woulds started porkin' fatties and lost the respect of damn near everyone in our nation. Dunno how much that affects sales tbh, but now you have a d-bag marketting games made by d-bags.
Personally I'm kinda happy this didn't sell. Gives me some faith in the Wii game-buying community....that is until Ben 10 and the Chinchilla armada comes out and sells 250k.
@Tetsuo - pretty sure the original had the absolute worst balance in a series known for crappy balance. Remember Yoshi's egg trick?
These games and Mario Kart are both the same for me--sure there's some minute layer of strategy, but there's no skill involved in pulling off the moves and too heavy of a random element at play. If I want 4 people to hold controllers and randomly win games, I'll play Mario Party.
@rom - i'd assume 3 (side-scroller-most-of-the-time 3) due to the pics in the competition...it would be good to know for sure though. I'd also assume they mean this stage 3 due to 0 kind of being a tutorial more than a stage.
@everyone - remember to stay standing on solid ground as often as possible, as it gives you points
God I hope I don't screw up that boss fight....I'd assume you pretty much have to play on Hard or there's no possible way to score highly enough....and you can't get hit at all. Gonna start practicing tonight--glad Other M's finished so I can give this my full attention
I know he hates game balance, good AI, and intelligent boss design. No More Heroes woulda been awesome.....if it hadn't been anything like it was. Take the worst elements of sandbox games and 3D beat em ups, muddy the control up as much as possible, and make sure to include as uneven a difficulty as possible--and apparently you have a game all Wii owners lust over. /throwshandsup
I mean it does look good....I wish nostalgia didn't play so heavily into my feelings on the series--I know I'm automatically gonna like this less than I should.
yeah I'm kinda lukewarm on this release atm...I wouldn't have nearly as much use for this type of sample-set. Still--we'll see how I feel about it once it releases.

Woohoo! I'm buying FFMQ for my nephew today--it's gonna be his first console RPG! (he's 6)
So psyched! First VC/Wiiware purchase in forever and a half.

Good decision, Nintendo. So far I have yet to see one compelling reason why the X-box Live service costs money in the first place.
