Re: Mini Review: Shadow Man Remastered - A Rich, Inscrutable World To Get Lost In

@echoplex I don't mean this to be snarky, but do note that I gave this an 8. I think it's worth highlighting to players, the majority of whom won't have played this before, that it isn't structured like a modern game and newcomers should be aware that it may be more difficult to navigate that they may expect.

I suggest with the "Cons" in a review that if it sounds like a "Pro" to you, then great.

Re: Review: Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX - Vintage Sega Hero In Mediocre Remake

@samuelvictor I absolutely did beat the game, in the standard three-life mode, because I was up until 3am trying to beat the last castle before I succeeded and moved on to the final level and epilogue.

Miracle World was my first game, I know it inside out and back to front, and the classic mode on offer here categorically does not look, feel or sound the same as the game i grew up with. If I'm somehow mistaken I'll concede as much, but I know my Alex.

Re: Review: The Longing - Tedious By Design, And Incredibly Successful At It

@nessisonett Was talking about my personal reaction to Blue when I originally saw it. I had no experience of much in the way of experimental cinema and I was furious at how I'd just spent my time. It took me a few hours to start to "get it" at all, and I made the comparison because there's a similar disconnect between the expectations of a game and the expectations I had of a film at the time I saw it. I didn't have the space to be more nuanced because I was reviewing The Longing, not Blue. Sorry that you felt I was undermining Blue; not my intention. I would have used the word "challenge" rather than "frustrate", but the meaning of the former is more distinctive when it comes to video games.

@Muddy_4_Ever Hey there, just wanted to chime in that while I'm not personally a big fan of the art, that has nothing to do with it being a "mobile game" and I apologise if I've implied that in my review. I'm not at all fond of the very much untrue misconception that mobile games are bad, or have no value.
