NES Open Tournament is the best by a mile. I adore it.
Didn't like Golf Story. Everyone in it just slags you off the whole time. And it doesn't play a great game of golf, either. I'm wrong though because everyone else on the planet adores it.
@brunojenso I understand it to be a very commonly-used acronym in gaming circles so I didn't feel the need to waste wordcount explaining it when, as you observe, it could be Googled. I'll bear it in mind if I use similar terminology in the future.
@AM7519 I genuinely hope you enjoy the heck out of it. For what it's worth, I do like Five Nights at Freddy's - I own all the games on Steam and several on phone. That's one of the reasons I didn't care for Help Wanted; I don't think it does the originals justice to present them so poorly.
As for the price, the games cost £6.29 each in the UK, which means the £26.99 being asked for Help Wanted is marginally pricier. If this is different in other regions, then I apologise - I wasn't aware of that.
Can I just break kayfabe and say thanks to the community here for actually reading this and responding charitably? Twitter were less kind.
As I say in the review, fans of FNAF will likely enjoy this game and the lore it brings to the table, but unfortunately I do believe that the compromise necessitated to bring the game to Switch severely weakened it.
I'd like to know how well it runs on Switch. I've heard 30fps, which isn't ideal for a shooter like this, but I've also heard that getting it to run on modern consoles is a feat in itself.
@brunojenso Yes - I intended for my stylus mention to be alluding to the game's touch controls, but I probably should have straight-up said "this game has touch controls", too. Sorry!
@jimbojax To briefly address your comments, the placement of the offending level so early in the game is guaranteed to deter players less patient than I am - if I hadn't been reviewing this game I doubt I would have bothered persevering. At least the Turbo Tunnel in Battletoads gave you a preview of the next obstacle! The shopping cart section would be a misfire anywhere in the game, but a third of the way in it's a total buzzkill.
It's less about the level's difficulty taken in isolation, more to do with its placement. The rest of the game is pretty good, but I'd wager any more casual players are going to give up there. I think without it, or if it was slightly tweaked, I'd have given this a 7, which is well above average. I like the game, but I'll probably never play it again simply because I don't want to tackle that stupid stage! I'm versed in retro and retro-style games, I actively enjoy challenge, but it's got to be fun and that level was just frustrating.
If you like butting your head against that sort of thing, by all means add as many points to the score as you like.
@jERS I took the screenshots of the early levels (as usual) to avoid giving away too much. I didn't find the farm stage as frenetic as you did - in fact I thought it was one of the easier ones, but maybe I got lucky with the animals? I also want to add that I did mention the ranking multiple times. I didn't find the co-operation required was either complex or intense - in my experience it was essentially trivial to get a Gold once you have two or more players, but the conclusion of the review was that Moving Out isn't necessarily aimed at the gamer who wants that sort of meaty challenge. The focus on accessibility, which I praised extensively, is the real core of the thing. Sorry to go on the defensive, I do appreciate feedback.
@Alucard83 Thanks for commenting; I don't think there's an enormous difference between a 6 and a 7, but I felt while Ara Fell was above average (hence 6!) the constant dull combat knocked it down for me. I thought I made it clear in the text that there was plenty of good stuff in the game, though. While using the combat skip would negate some of the issues, it would do so by simply removing a core part of the game, and I feel the score has to reflect that. Naturally, in the end, it's always each to their own, though!
@PerishSong Naturally people will have distinct experiences; I personally found the game shockingly difficult (as you can tell from the review text) but of course skill and speed of learning will vary. I'm not horrible at games (this isn't a Cuphead situation, I assure you) but I found the sheer amount of stuff thrown at the player and the lack of feeling of meaningful progression to be a downer. In my eyes 7/10 is not an average score, it's a downright good one, but as with all reviews it's just one viewpoint, your experience will vary.
@ThanosReXXX Just to clarify, the central gameplay/premise isn't hard to grok at all. The perspective, however, is kind of odd if you're new to it; the way you can travel in all four directions unaffected by gravity, but the rocks and gems will fall and roll. I'm not new to it, but I felt like I had to consider the fact that some players could be.
I'd be happy with it taking a break; I found the 3DS entries kinda lacklustre. I don't blame Alphadream though, and it's a shame what happened to them.

Love this game but not $30 love.

Re: After 10 Years Away, The Original "King Of Kong" Is Making A Comeback
Despite his deceptions I can't help but like Billy Mitchell. He's such a character. Only the eighties arcade scene could produce him.

Re: Review: Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee - A Technically Stunning Port Of The Worst Game In The Series
@Dman10 Oh no, no. I liked Stranger's Wrath a lot. I love Oddworld, I just don't love Munch. And I've tried to, believe me!
Re: Nintendo Says It Will Continue To Increase The Appeal Of The Switch Online Service
It's already worth it for me just for the NES and SNES games and Game Vouchers, though I'd obviously happily welcome anything further.
The instant they put NES Open Tournament Golf on the service, it justified its cost.

Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite Nintendo Switch Online NES Games
NES Open Tournament Golf is not only the best game on the service, it's also the killer app for the Switch

Re: Review: Battle Princess Madelyn Royal Edition - One Step Forward, Two Steps Back
@Facelord Mmhm, its the Japan-only reworking of Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins. That's why I made the comparison!
Re: Review: Ministry of Broadcast - A Grim But Enjoyable Cinematic Platformer
@Ultimategamer132 The obstacles that you face, as per previous sentence. It's elaborated a little following that. It could be more graceful, sorry.
Re: Review: Ministry of Broadcast - A Grim But Enjoyable Cinematic Platformer
@DevlinMandrake It's not as on-the-nose as Spec Ops, but it does some similarly interesting narrative stuff.

Straight 10/10 game for me. Joyous, marvellously designed masterpiece.
