Re: Nintendo Switch Is Not "Technically Capable" Of Running Call Of Duty Games, Says CMA

SonOfDracula

@fenlix Stop making excuses for downgraded ports. It takes much more effort to put out a high quality game than it does to downgrade an existing one for the Switch. I’m saying it should be dependent on the quality of the port. At least when you put a PS5 port next to a PC one, they look comparable and therefor, can compete within a similar price bracket. Switch ports of high end games are noticeably downgraded, and should take a comparable price cut.

@dew12333 People should think critically of the companies they love. We should want them to do better, not just with the games they produce, but with their public relations and reputation. Nintendo’s reputation is becoming this strange mix of making stellar games while at the same time coming across like they hate their fanbase. That’s not trolling; it’s looking critically at a company that we all unabashedly throw our money at without a second thought.

Re: Talking Point: What Is A 'Traditional' Zelda Game, Anyway?

SonOfDracula

Anything from Zelda 1, a Link to the Past, or Link's Awakening fit the bill of traditional. Ocarina of Time POSSIBLY, though it's super dated and a pain to play in 2023, whereas the others are aging much more gracefully. Anything else is a deviation. They may be Zelda games, but they really lack the heart and soul of those core originals.

It's just the problem with remaking the same franchise every couple years. It grows super stale for us long-timers.

Re: Review: The Mageseeker: A League Of Legends Story - An Enthralling Hack-And-Slash Spin-Off

@Cashews It's like I've been saying for the past 15 years: we are paying for beta testing, at this point. Even with Elden Ring, from a developer I love, I waited until the performance was patched instead of buying day one. Luckily, that only took them two weeks or so! So in that case, it wasn't a big deal.

Buying day one these days is a huge gamble that I'm just never willing to take. Hell, nobody should be buying day one, due to the risk of performance issues. Look at how D4's demo was literally bricking specific video cards from overloading the GPU.

@Bablommebite I don't think they got a free pass, since they are still actively patching their game. Fromsoft is very openly criticized on forums related to the topic. It's also kinda like how you mentioned, the game in this review will probably get patched.

But no, they do not get a free pass, hardly ever. You just won't hear much about it on a Nintendo fan-cult, ahem, I mean site.

Re: Nintendo Hacker Gary Bowser Has Been Released From Prison

SonOfDracula

The prison time was more than enough. Nintendo was not damaged in any way, shape or form. According to this website, their games continually hold strong positions in top 10 sales lists, and they perform strongly each financial quarter. I do not believe that hackermans was able to do enough financial damage to Nintendo to warrant an outrageous, $10 million punishment. Fine should have been $300K at the most, since he already got jail time.

Didn't Nintendo pull $500 million in their FIRST WEEK of their crappy movie? They're fine.
