Re: Review: Super Mario All-Stars - All That Glitters Isn't Necessarily Gold

Everything the Super NES did was better than the NES. These games look so much better with the 16-bit makeover. More and brighter colors, parallax scrolling background layers, better music, no flicker or slowdown. Hands down way better than their 8-bit originals.

Same with Zelda Link to the Past - absolutely blows away Zelda 1 & 2. Contra 3 destroys the NES Contras. Super Castlevania IV beasts the crap out of the NES Castlevania trilogy and on and on. Super Mario All-Stars is an absolute treasure and we’re all damn lucky Nintendo went through the lengths they did to remaster these games for us!

Pretty great Direct. The Game & Watch will be harder to find than the NES and SNES Classics were. Mario 3D All-Stars is great and I’ll be buying it for sure. However like others have stated it’s disappointing Mario 64 is only just higher resolution. I was really hoping Nintendo would give it the full remake treatment with Mario Odyssey’s graphics engine.

Re: Yep, The Switch Has Now Outsold The NES

@Linux7055 Difference is PS3 wasn’t the market leader heading into the launch of PS4. PS3 was also about 35 million units shy of PS4’s total sales. There will still be lots of people who can’t find a PS5 or can’t afford one, who’ll just buy a PS4 and a bunch of bargain bin games. Believe it or not there are actually STILL tons of gamers who haven’t even upgraded from PS3 or 360 and are more than happy being an entire generation behind. All that being said I also don’t think PS4 will break the 155 million units sold mark either, I just said it has the best chance of any current console.

Different eras. The NES was the first wildly successful, massive selling console. It opened the door and paved the way for every console since. Still amazing accomplishment by Nintendo considering Switch has only been out 3 years and has outsold Xbox One by 15 million units in 4 less years on the market. All that being said the Super NES is still the best Nintendo console of all time. Comparatively the Switch has some glaring holes in terms of 3rd party titles as well as underrepresented genres and licenses.

Re: Switch's NES And SNES Games Will No Longer Be Added Monthly

SleeplessKnight

Knowing Nintendo, they're not really known for being overly generous giving away too many freebies or extra value content. They didn't get to where they are today by doing this and that's fine as I'm fully aware that unlike Sony & MS who have other divisions to fall on in tough times, Nintendo is a gaming (and merch) company only and thus the majority of their revenues come from sales of gaming software and hardware. So I'd expect a couple games for each platform every 2 or 3 months, with maybe more during special events like E3, Gamescom, TGS etc.

Re: Erotic Horror Lust For Darkness Might Be The Most Risqué Game On Switch, And It's Out Today

@jly1987 Well I and many other long-time Nintendo fans would disagree. Nintendo have traditionally always been the more family-friendly console. Their iconic stable of characters and IP is comparable to Disney. If I want gruesome, over the top horror there are better avenues and if I want softcore porn there are also better, more suitable avenues as well. Again though just my opinion as I stated before more choice for those who do want this kind of thing on Switch isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Phase 1 complete. Sell over 30 million Switches under the guise of a home console/portable hybrid. Phase 2: drop a dedicated handheld-only model officially killing the 3DS. Phase 3: in 2021 (a year after PS5 & Xbox Scarlett) bring out a new, traditional, disc-based home console with a new revolutionary controller (which has been reported they're working on) that's closer to the power of the PS5 & Scarlett, thus giving Nintendo their traditional 2-prong home & portable console approach.

Re: Is This Our First Real Look At Nintendo Switch Mini?

SleeplessKnight

My issue with the whole "Switch mini" is that most of the mockups I've seen have non-detachable Joy-Cons, thus defeating the entire concept/purpose of the name "Switch". My feeling is that IF they re-design the Switch, it will still have detachable Joy-Cons, but maybe a more sleek tablet with a more edge-to-edge screen with less bezel.
