@KingdomHeartsFan there are a number of previews available from reputable YouTube channels if you look. The consensus is that this is a great port of the original as it maintains the all important 60fps during gameplay and the graphics are barely disriguisbable from the other versions apart from a few lower res background elements. With all things being mostly equal, the advantage of the switch versions’s flexibility should not be understated, and should be considered the best version imo.

I do enjoy the selection of indies on switch.

For this level of quality to exist on a platform this early is unreal. And to even have a debate for what qualifies on this list speaks to the volume of the quality choices switches owners have to consider.

@brickofthewild Capcom is a third party, most of their products will be mulitiplatform.

@NESlover85 I agree. 20fps, 240p textures need to stay in my distant memory. Nintendo is better off remastering the best of the n64 games and releasing them on the switch virtual console.

@Chandlero Actually, it’s not weird. German people don't associated themselves with Nazi ideology or ideologies from that time period, so consuming media or entertainment depicting Nazies in a negative light isn’t offensive to them. And rightfully so. It’s similar to how Americans don’t associate themselves with sins of the past, like slavery. And last I checked, Americans have no issues consuming media depicting the civil war and slavery in a negative light.

@Donutman im with you on that one. Phone pricing and plan pricing is so outrageous now. Stick to what’s reasonable or you’ll be paying through the nose in the long run.

In Canada, stock situation is fine. All major retailers have them in the brick and mortar stores or online.

Count me as one of those skeptics when they released that reveal trailer. The switch is definitely one of those products that you have to hold in your hand in order to fully understand its appeal.

@Yasaal same here. I keep going back to splatoon 2. They keep it fresh and enjoyable. I haven’t beaten campaign yet, but turf war on its own is enough of a reason to pick up and play every few days.

If fifa 19 is more of the same, I would suggest EA skip it all entirely. I’m getting an uneasy feeling that EA will do to the switch what they did with he vita versions of fifa, that is they released one game and pretty much just updated the superficial aspects of the title for each of the subsequent releases. It would be embarrassing for EA if they did that with the switch seeing as how it may turn out to be a fantastic seller and will have a substantial userbase. Switch owners deserve better.

@JaxonH just chalk it up to lack of budget, personnel, and expertise with the switch hardware. That’s my entire point. The hardware is capable, made evident by the fact that we’ve seen better performance from more demanding games. It’s just that the devs don’t have the ability to get there most out of the hardware.

@JaxonH there is very little argument to suggest that this top down racer is more graphically intense than mk8d.

@OorWullie what a problem to have! Third party AAA and Nintendo AAA must haves. By the time I get to the third party stuff, I would expect the price to have dropped.

Mario Kart 8 deluxe runs at 60fps, even with 2 player split screen. I would expect this to at least match that kind of performance.

Great review! Its exactly what I expected it to be, but like you said, we will be expecting parity feature parity next year if they want customers to make another purchase.

I hope they are able to port the remastered PS4 version over. Not so much the graphical upgrade, but the increase in population and traffic density goes a long way in making the gaming more immersive. That's my hope, improved lighting a shadows I don't care so much about.

@BravelyDavid some truth to that. But it would defintily prolong the appeal of GTA 5 and keep it on the charts for longer that it could, if it wasn't on the switch.

@Davel33123 agreed. The PS4 and Xbox generation invented the the concept of the "day one patch". We ought to get use to broken games at luanch if more third parties join the switch party. People should not be surprised.

@HawkeyeWii Very good points your making. I'm in the same boat, and have had thst same internal debate. I've reasoned that the switch version of any multi plat is the way for me because I no longer have enough free time to sit down and grind through a game. The flexibility of the switch will allow me to actually finish a game now. I'm willing to live with half the fluidity if it means I can actually play my games.

@Meaty-cheeky Capcom sure is odd. Wasn't it then that approached Nintendo, and asked for beefier specs to facilitate multiplatform development. Nintendo obliged. My question is, where are the games capcom???

@Pod And that is all the matters...... the demographic that ultimately enabled the Wii to reach an installed base of 100 million wouldn't buy the games that 3rd party developers were trying to sell.

Xenoverse 2, 24k units at #3. How should people interpret that? On one had, it's a new game for switch, on the other, it's year old game selling at close to full price.... what was Namco's expectation for this title?

@CorvoRevo I agree, not having Halo, Gears of war, Forza, Uncharted, and God of war is inexcusable. Nintendo needs Sony and Microsoft developing on the switch, pronto!

GTA V and Red dead redemption all but confirmed. I hope they charge a reasonable price, this is not a full priced game.

Capcom completely miscalculated with double cross. They re-released a game that was already on a mobile device and had already saturated yhe market. There was no reason for anyone who had already purchased the 3DS version to double dip. Capcom needs to start porting more of their PS4 library on to the switch if they expect people to double dip.

@Meaty-cheeky Likely not going to happen. The level of graphics we see in the current generation of consoles is reaching a point of diminishing returns. So from the development standpoint, using more effort and funds to harness the power of the pro and 1X wont likely be a priority if the return on their investment is small.

@improviser it's not just a portable, it's a hybrid. It's making the argument that it can be your primary system, whether Sony wants to believe it or not.
