@RickD It isn't so much the kinds of games that are abundant today rather how extreme the differences are between how they first debut and how they are upon release.
These days, companies are expected to knock first impressions out of the park when games are announced, so there's a lot less room for something looser to be shown. Meanwhile, you look at all these videos of Mario 64 being super different when it was announced in 1995, and you kinda wish you could play that version but you can't.
Man...Imagine what it would be like being there, when the N64 was still alive and kicking. There's something very mystical about the games in development then.
Somewhat unrelated, but does anyone in the UK know if the Switch release there requires the same gargantuan download patch as it did when it launched in the US?
@ramu-chan I havent experienced those issues. The extras the M2 versions supposedly have aren't enough for me to drop $8 a piece on what are essentially the same games.
The talent is there, but it's been put to waste on ports that aren't needed. More games beyond the 16-bit era would've done wonders.
Virtua Racing was literally the only one that I felt warranted the treatment. Did we really need a bunch of Genesis ports, especially of games already in the 50-game collection?
More games like VR and byeond would've done wonders to the lineup. A lot of it just feels so misguided.

Re: Spyro Is Headed To Crash Team Racing As Post-Launch Grand Prix Content
Not sure I like the idea of a "roadmap" being for this game, but at least it's turning out quite well.

@John_Deacon They are 999 yen each on the eShop. Though finding a yen card online usually leads to also paying a tax of, in this case, $3 more

Re: A New Detective Pikachu Game Has Been Announced For Nintendo Switch
I'm hoping the sequel is GOOD this time.
The first game was painfully dry and ended not only on a cliffhanger, but tons of loose ends even regarding the most basic establishments.
The movie was much more fulfilling on all fronts.

I remember Nintendo Power slamming this version, and I was confused on how this was even to be played.
Suffice to say, you may as well just stick with the NES game on Switch Online
