Re: Editorial: Gamers, Support The People And Sites You Love, Before It's Too Late

RunninBlue

It just stands to reason. I stopped visiting sites like Kotaku & Giant Bomb many years ago after previously being a daily consumer because their focus went from gaming to other things. I never read Polygon because I knew I wouldn’t like their content from day 1. I just transitioned to other sites that kept their content mostly apolitical. I was not alone, millions did the same. It didn’t help their cause that myself and people like me (long time customers) were treated with ridicule and open disdain for suggesting these companies not alienate the majority of their audience base.

Like others have said, you reap what you sow. Actions have consequences. Don’t cry about it.

As they always loved to say,

Do better.

Re: The Entire Tales Of Kenzera: Zau Team Has Been Put On Redundancy Notice

RunninBlue

I didn’t play this game and don’t know much about the drama around it (although, I get it), but from that statement it sounds like the company wants to repeat what they did before with their second game if they can find funding (as they sit their handing out redundancy letters and already announcing layoffs earlier).

Is that a smart or sound business decision?

Re: Metroid Prime Samus Gravity Suit Statue Pre-Orders Are Now Open

RunninBlue

@Moistnado I get that sentimentality, but I was recently sorting through my storage and found a F4F Samus statue I had from years ago and decided to look at the current value.

I was blown away that it was selling for thousands of dollars AUD on the secondhand market. So, if you get lucky, these can be a decent investment.

Re: Metal Slug Tactics Blasts Onto Switch This Fall

@BeefSanta Of course it’s the individual’s choice. I wasn’t the one proclaiming my altruistic tendencies to a video game website.

My point is, if your intentions are genuine, then there are waaaaaay more destructive companies and evil individuals than current flavour of the month, MBS that you could and should focus your attention on. But, people seem to develop selective outrage about these things based on what they are fed in their social media and/or “news” feed.

Anyway, you do you and I’ll do me, but I will continue to point out hypocrisies and double standards when I see them.

Re: Metal Slug Tactics Blasts Onto Switch This Fall

@BeefSanta Your brainwashing is similarly weak. If you buy American, you buy games from companies with Blackrock and Vanguard in their shareholders. They fuel wars so that the “defense” companies they are invested in can turn a profit. They are evil.

Don’t be a hypocrite.

And don’t use made up words that mean nothing and were trendy 10 years ago.

Re: Hands On: Quarter Arcades Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Machine

RunninBlue

I love the idea and I’d love to buy this, but I can’t justify the price for something I know will just sit on the shelf, look cool and collect dust.

I already built a full size MAME cabinet years ago and bought a sit down cocktail style MAME cabinet too, that’s enough for me.

There’s definitely a market for these things, though.

Re: New Nintendo Joystick Patent Could Spell The End For Future Drift Issues

RunninBlue

My Pro Controller finally started drifting badly after having it since launch. My original Joycons also had to be replaced a while back due to drifting and I couldn’t utilise Nintendo’s repair service due to Covid lockdowns at the time.

An expensive and annoying fault which is a first in my 35+ years of Nintendo gaming.

Hopefully they learn from this.

Re: Talking Point: Has Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition On Switch Improved Since Launch?

RunninBlue

I played them all through during March-May 2022. I found them all perfectly playable. Slight framerate hiccups here and there, but nothing soul-destroying. Very minor graphical glitches and hardly any bugs. Maybe I was lucky, but I believe you can enjoy the games just fine unless you are going out of your way to be upset in all honesty.

In saying that, I am not excusing the developer or publisher for the state of the game at launch. That was unacceptable.

Re: Star Wars: KOTOR II 'Sith Lords' DLC Cancelled For Nintendo Switch

RunninBlue

@GADG3Tx87 No, I didn’t. I sent an email through their Feedback portal and I have been ignored too.

Maybe the NL author of the article can shed light on this? Paging @Liam_Doolan

I have to say, my impression of Aspyr is not very good right now. I can’t help but think that the free code was just a PR stunt to mitigate negativity and that they have no intention of fulfilling that promise.

Re: Popular Switch Piracy Subreddit Promoting Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Downloads Banned

RunninBlue

@sleepinglion Nintendo games get emulated so quickly because of the popularity of Nintendo games, not the specs of the console. That’s why Nintendo consoles always get emulated first, because of desire. This has been the case since the very beginning. That’s why Sega, PlayStation, Xbox consoles etc were always an afterthought in emulation. They got done AFTER the Nintendo console in most cases. This is why generally Nintendo emulation was traditionally more comprehensive, smooth and stable and other emulation wasn’t.

The only thing to match that desire in emulation was arcade back in the day. Arcade emulation was also highly desired.

When emulation became a thing, they didn’t say “oh ****, I want to play Master System games!”, they said “****, I want to play NES!”
