So did I by any chance missed the news recently that Bayonetta 1 is going to be released in physical form? Because I bumped into it by chance in Amazon and it was available for preorder, supposed to be released September 30.

Sadly they don’t have Bayonetta 2 on stock, and although not ridiculous price, the old release is still going for quite a bit chunk of change.

@Mioaionios no issues with combos myself (the ai is better at getting them going than me😅) but the AI has a tendency of interlocking your healing mates when the party needs healing the most. Has caused a ton of wipes for me.

Important tip I learned: never assign healing duties to both members of the same interlock 🙃

I think they calling them different paths because they are no longer locked by each other or gym progression, so you could do any of them independently from start to finish (with a bit of grinding.)

Shield/Sword was my first Pokémon game and although I enjoined the gameplay loop and mechanics, the story was a ton of eye rolling. The antagonist/villain stuff was…. Meh? 😒

Actually a bit glad it’s listed here as the worst because it might mean there is a case to be said for me to play other Pokémon games. Although I am not sure the reason given is a reason I didn’t like the story. I kinda was ok with the overly ambitious rival that…. Was not really that good at all.

@Debo626 oh I played the first one and loved it. I already decided to get started on the second one. I see why many hate the gatcha system, but got to say I feel it adds some uniqueness to playthroughs. If I ever decided to play it a second time, it’s practically certain that my leveling/progression team of blades would be drastically different.

Maybe one day I go back and play XCX too, another one in my backlog. My Wii U still hooked up for whenever I decide to start playing it.

@PerishSong ugh, back log comes to bite me in the rear... these are huge games... might take me about 2 weeks to get through it all...

Does this game share a universe/world with the previous entries?
I never got around to playing the second one, been on my bucket list forever but this arrives on the mail today and wondering if I can safely jump into it first.

Perhaps my favorite 3D Mario ever.

@koekiemonster Sony actually thought they were guaranteed to have a wildly successful PS3. Microsoft too was equally blind about the XBox One. Nintendo actually thought the Wii U was going to be as popular as the Wii. They did similar with the 3DS launch overcharging because they thought it was so certain that people would buy whatever they put out there.

So yea, success can actually generate a false sense of superiority that they can’t do no wrong.

One thing I think that needs to be kept in mind is that every back to back successful generation transition, except the NES to SNES has included backwards compatibility at least to previous generation.

Read the headline, got exited about a game compilation… so disappointed.

@RubyCarbuncle oh I agree, they tend to say it equally dismissively. If there ain’t blood and killing, it ain’t for adults in their minds.

Just think many in their own minds don’t realize they themselves see a distinction between a “Nintendo kids game” and a “game for children”

@RubyCarbuncle “kid games” really mean “kid friendly but truly for everyone”

An pattern I think I noticed is that when people truly mean “kid only” ( like My Friend Pepa Pig…., no judgement to any adults that enjoy it) they tend to actually say “it’s for children”

It’s on the mail, should be here in a few hours. First game I buy for myself day one all year.

A proper sendoff would be if they removed the always-online requirements as the game service ended, but we all know that’s unlikely.

Even if they wanted to do so, the game has an update scheme for every mission that would require them forever to keep on hosting update servers, something that is obviously out of the question.

@Anti-Matter playing DDR without a floor mat feels to me like… not actually playing DDR.

Anyways I’m sure the real reason for lack of true DDR in the N64 was storage limitations on the cart vs CDs packed with high quality audio.

I see fans being cynic and citing some bad track record, but I keep seeing the leap in Sword/Shield > DLC > Legends Arceus > Gen9
And honestly all I see is continued progress.

I’m already sold on this game and look forward to its launch. Just debating what version to preorder…

Would not be shocked if Sony stated to demand any game showcased in EVO was available on PlayStation.

Between 1997 and 2000, then Square Soft releases soooo many fantastic RPGs for the PlayStation. If HD2D is easy and fast enough, I would be all too happy if they went back to that bombardment of games.

Really miss those days, when we would get handfuls of JRPGs from them every year, instead of one entry every few years. Not every game needs to be super photo realistic rpg open worlds. In fact, some of the most memorable are just fun stories with charming but low key art styles and scopes.

Where the launch issues for the first entry ever patched?

@Slinkoy1 just because you and your friends stopped playing it does not mean it “died”. It’s definitively not at its peak, but it’s still a rather active game. It’s always been more of a “play with friends” than “with randos” game, though.

When that game sells to someone, it usually sells copies among all that players friend group.

An issue is that as much nostalgia as we have for the N64, there are not that many good games. If they expand faster, they will go through all the good games within a year.

@Smores500 the special editions usually get two waves in the same day, depending on the game they might sell out very quickly.

The regular editions don’t “sell out” because they are open preorders. They are open for a window of time and will take as many preorders as people make, close the window and just manufacture that count.

It can take a long time for the games to ship, regardless it’s the collectors edition or regular one.

Edit: it seems in this case all editions are open preorders. So, if you want to throw a ton of money at them, you should be able to without having to get up early.

Am I missing something here? I thought this merger was anointed a long time ago, before Diablo II remaster was even revealed…

Find it so odd they go for the super deformed/chibi style when the online game, that ran on a Wii, had DQ8/11 style character design.

So…. Kazuya was originally meant to be the final fighter? Can’t imagine how many would had been angry about that one.

I call [bleep] on this. This is likely the opposite way: they paid Sega for this because they had a budget based on charging for this expansion.

I’m sure Nintendo felt giving away N64 games at higher resolution for just 20 a month would devalue the games, and we know how Nintendo feels about devaluing their properties.

Nintendo also likely felt they undercharged for their online service, and felt adding more consoles (you bet we will eventually see GameCube) would only be acceptable under a higher cost. I also expect the eventual addition of the GBA games to require this expansion.

@Yosher the only one that lets you keep them is XBox only for 360 and XBox classic games. But all Xbox One/Series X|S games get lost if you unsubscribe.

As has been explained, PlayStation removes access to every game if you unsubscribe.

I feel like the Atelier Dusk and Mysterious trilogy collections should be on this list. Each includes 3 beefy RPGs.

Usually like the Retrofighters offerings but why would they go away from the asymmetric sticks???? It’s not even their norm, their controllers tend to always have the left analog on top and dpad at the lower left…

@Res462 some store might do a sale on minor sets, but its very very rare (not unheard of) to see such a sale on any set over $80 MSRP.

There are plenty of sets I regret not getting because I kept waiting for "a decent sale"

As @darkswabber noted, Lego introduces new sets and retires oldest (6 to 24 month old ones) continuously. It would be non sustainable to keep introducing new sets and never to stop manufacturing old ones.

Also for anyone curious: they rarely do significant sales (15% discounts are a huge deal) and once they go out of production, even the used sets skyrocket in price anywhere you look. So if you waiting on one of these to go on sale, buy now or never.

@PROPS that’s what I’m saying. The Metroids are the amoeba like creatures, but they went extinct as of the end of Metroid 3 (Super Metroid.) There are technically no Metroids left in the universe during Fusion (I think?) it Dread.

It’s weird to keep the series going called “Metroid” when we will never se another Metroid in the games.

In retrospect, claiming the amoeba like creatures to be what the game is named after was not a great idea. It’s hard to make a game on the series and insist it has nothing to do with the creatures.

Hopefully they start posting all games all over like parent Sega started doing with Yakuza.

If I wanted cloud games I would just hook a kishi to my phone and play them via xCloud. All these cloud-version switch games sadden me. It’s starting to feel the days of impossible ports like Witcher 3 are over. 😢

The only reason I would buy this is if something happened to my current switch, like it getting stolen. But what are the chances of anyone stealing it from my car, where I left it. In the middle of the mall parking lot. With both doors wide open. Visible. On the passenger seat. Overnight? Next to none. Since no one is stealing it…. (Checks) I’ll just not buy this!

@dustinprewitt toss in either the original version of Metroid II or the remake as DLC, and Im sold.

Sad/funny thing is by the time this article went up the thing was already sold out everywhere, so you might not have a chance to buy it either way.

Preordering this one for sure!
