@Big-Pepsi, i have not asked at any point for every game to be cell-shaded cartoon fest, but the list of games you mentioned are games that looked great at their time in some of the weakest hardware available.
Good art direction does not mean "force any computer built last month to run at 15fps" nor does it mean "make everything look like Wind Waker.
I know some games were built the way they were built (something I said from the start) I just expressed I wish more devs, from the start, made their games scalable. I am actually shocked CDPR ever considered doing the Witcher 3 scale down to Switch levels, I recall seeing a lot of comments from them not being happy with having to downscale to PS4/XBO levels to begin with.
@Doktor-Mandrake Im talking about Doom Ethernal, Mr Lol.
Also, a game can push the limits of modern PCs and still run on older hardware via that magic word: scalable. It’s not a new concept and given high end PCs are not the norm, all PC games already support said scalability.
I understand the desire to make an incredibly realistic graphical world, with all the latest graphic technics and bestest poly counts, but I wish more devs simply made fun scalable games.
Skyrim is an amazing game, but despite owning practically every version ever made (but the VR one) I only ever played the whole thing through when I got the switch version. It makes a huge difference being able to play on a bus, plane, bed, or basically anywhere.
I’m sure this story will repeat wirh Witcher III, another game I own in too many systems but never played far into.
Playing on a tv is fun, playing anywhere is best (and laptops don’t cut it.)
I am seeing a lot of the same voices that normally would call out the manipulative nature of loot boxes ruins games also bash the lawsuit as stupid, and that is very weird.
I’m confused since I have not played any Pokémon game far beyond the first gym... did people fear this games 18 gyms was too much or too little?
Also, 18 gyms... 8 major league ones, minor league ones being different... does this actually mean 8 major/main story + 5 side quest/gyms? With the 5 being different for each version of the game?
My first DQ game, well other than Dragon Quest Heroes. Having a lot of fun with it, was hard to get through the Dragon Ball design at first but quickly growing on me.
Now I wish SE went remaster happy as they done with Final Fantasy and released 8 and 9 on the switch with HD graphics.
I miss the Wii Mote, somewhat. Kinda wish Nintendo had been more open with their controller support. It’s all Bluetooth, no? Let any old Wii controller connect to the Switch, let devs support them if they want to.
@Paraka there will always be more characters to add, I didn’t make a list of characters I like, my list it of characters I think deserve the spot in the list and fit the theme and selection rules.
Crash Bandicoot
Spyro the Dragon
Rayman
Earthworm Jim
Tails
Minecraft Steve
Claptrap
Ezio Auditore (actually... make it 8 assassins, one for each look)
Dante (Devil May Cry)
Tracer (Overwatch)
Lara Croft
Duke Nukem
Scorpion
Sub Zero
@mazzel was thinking along the same lines. It sounds like he just wants to become a famous collector, likely trying to use this to launch (or highlight) a YouTube Chanel.
@nechestriah that’s the nature of RPGs: if someone had no skills to do mechanics, they over-level everything and then bash the game for being “too easy”
I rarely use my Wii U anymore, still got games for it I want to sit down and play, but I used to stream amazon/Hulu/netflix on it all the tine a few years ago. I have done so less and less since I got a tv with built in chrome cast, now I just push video from my phone.
@Tharsman the case I linked is designed so you can actually use the switch without removing the battery from the case. Battery connectors are exposed so you don’t have to remove it, and includes a nice cable that lets you also charge the switch while it’s not in use.
Not only does it have room to perfectly fit an Anker Pwercore 26800, it also fits a switch with the Satisfe Grip in place. It’s a bit big, but I would use to travel with a different (nowhere near as good ) grip on my backpack so the extra room was already being taken when I traveled.
@Ralizah shallow repetitive gameplay with little to no point. Copy paste encounters all over the game with very little variety. I expected a lot better from the people that made Bayonetta.
@Indielink i own Devastation and I think it was a great looking but terrible game. I also paid full preorder price to see it slump into sub $20 in less than a month. That game was not a success.
@Medic_alert thing is: currently they don’t have control of any game they make, and I think that’s all this is about: control. Not platforms of choice, but what they would be able to do.
Right now, if you take the Nintendo investment away, it’s not certain going multi platform would cover the loss of investment, and that’s only on a hypothetical world where they could afford to develop the game. Remember: Bayonetta 1 didn’t do hot enough to keep SEGA in the picture.
This is not a Wii U situation, the Switch is ridiculously hot, hottest platform in Japan.
@Medic_alert don’t see it that way at all. Go check their development history, all the games they have done have been published and financed by someone else, and the only series they have managed to secure sequel financing has been Bayonetta. I think their deal is they want to be able to just make their next projects without worrying about outside financing.
Wait... he quits over sex content being censored and goes to work ok traditional fantasy games (that sounds not to be sexually charged) as a way to express dissatisfaction with censorship?
I would had expected him to start his own studio or publisher wirh focus on Adult Only games...
@PixelTavern my guess as to why they port the old version:
They have a source control branch for each console but the core base game is the PC game. Each console has unique enough stuff going on that you are more likely to start a new port from the last PC version, and common console intricacies may mean this bug gets reproduced yet again ok the new console.
I’m curious if the Xbox version has the same thing going on, being a directx machine it may be easier to port from PC.
When will these people understand that this kind of project needs to be entirely in secret until it’s complete? Only reveal when you can dump the finished product on every corner of the internet, at a point where a C&D can’t stop it.
I think there been a couple like projects that actually did that, a remake of Metroid II and a completely fanfic Pokémon entry, If I recall correctly? Both sites were taken down, but those can still be found and downloaded if you search for them.
Microsoft is not a “software company”, Microsoft is a platform company. Windows, Xbox, SQL, IIS, active directory, etc. it’s never been about the hardware, but the platform. What is the platform they trying to spread here? Xbox Live. Achievements, friend lists, multiplayer, those are things that are very important for Microsoft’s future, maybe more so than the Xbox itself (but the Xbox is still an essential hook-in of that platform.)
@Baker1000 I guess it will all depend on the terms you agree to when you pay, and how much you have to pay. They may charge a lot and actually expect journalist to write articles with the numbers in them, just not post the whole spreadsheet.
@iconmaster I don't see it, just to be sure I edited my post, as I refer to the PowerA GameCube style wireless controller, not the Pro-Controller style versions (those are listed on the article.)
@Yorumi I find them extremely comfortable as a pair, allowing me to use half a controller on each hand. I have never once used them as independent controllers.
I was curious about the game but drastically disappointed with the demo. I found visuals underwhelming, especially on the hangar, and the story elements (that I got to experience mid mission) felt like they were lost in the background. Team mates talking in the middle of fighting, barely noticed it was going on. Almost wish a box popped up with a portrait of the character talking and the dialog... but I never got a survey email... maybe because I never finished the demo... precisely due to how disappointing it was.
Maybe it's not for me, and that's ok, but the way the game been hyped, I was expecting a bit more of emphasis on the story delivery.
@akennelley1 I don’t have that one but the ones I tried to redeem said they were not “valid for my region” or something like that. I am in the US, and LR is a US publisher so I figured they were just somehow not participating.
@Moroboshi876 to be fair: the version of RE1 we getting everywhere is also a remake, it just happens to be more faithful to the original format, but it’s still not the campy glorious original.
For the most part, PS1 games tend to age like milk, and few publishers want to re-release them.

@Doktor-Mandrake that’s not what I said, Mr Lol.
I said games can be made scalable, and I said... meh you don’t care. If you did you could go read the post.
Anyways, it’s an insult for you that a game could get a low graphic settup, so I will stop, dont want to continue hurting your feelings with the idea.

@Xansies the latest wolfenstein and doom games also stretch the limits of what PCs can do, and yet we get them on the switch too.

So... there is still hope for Pepsi Man?
On a serious note, though, here is my wishlist:
Crash Bandicoot
Spyro the Dragon
Rayman
Earthworm Jim
Tails
Minecraft Steve
Claptrap
Ezio Auditore (actually... make it 8 assassins, one for each look)
Dante (Devil May Cry)
Tracer (Overwatch)

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Be Concerned About Google's Play For Gamers?
I may be super wrong but I think whatever this is will end up being dead on the water.
If it’s a streaming device, it won’t be able to compete in many areas. Lag will always keep players on a disadvantage.
If it’s a dedicated console, it needs exclusive titles to really push any hardware, and as it is, Epic won’t even publish Fortnite on the play store.
