We heard last year how Black Isle Studios was interested in reviving Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II for modern platforms, and now it's been officially confirmed.
In a brief message over on the social media platform Twitter, Black Isle said the second game in the action RPG series would be coming "sooner than you think" at some point this year. Here's the full teaser trailer:
A follow-up tweet confirmed it would be coming to "PC and consoles" - this also includes a Nintendo Switch release:
This announcement follows on from the original entry's bumpy launch on the Nintendo Switch last year which stalled the game's release on the platform.
Hopefully, the sequel's arrival on Nintendo's hybrid platform is a lot smoother. Would you be interested in returning to the Dark Alliance II? As always, leave a comment down below.

Really enjoyed this on the ps2
I played the first Dark Alliance on Gamecube but never got to play the second as I didn't have a system to play it on. That shall be remedied now.
I played both on my PS2 and Cube.
Great games.
Might be time to revisit them.
Would be nice if we got a double pack in physical form.
I didn't even know there was a second game in the series! Tried the first game and it didn't really click so I just didn't bother following it!
Ngl I wouldn't be disappointed if they keep the graphics and instead used that storage to make the game longer, or it just being a remaster
What was the last D&D licenced game to not suck?
Ignoring the "enhanced editions" ... it's Temple of Elemental Evil in 2003 I think. And that wasn't GREAT, it just didn't suck.
Just keep in mind this is Interplay we're talking about here I haven't heard anything good about them for nearly 20 years, and the last thing I heard about them before this was them pulling a scam kickstarter where they were basically kickstarting a kickstarter for another kickstarter(that never happened) where you were donating to get access to a forum that never materialized. And all they did with that was literally just steal the money.
Really loved the first one, especially co-op. Never played the second one though so this is nice.
Native or Cloud?
@Wilforce It's a remastered of the PS2 game, of course it's gonna be native.
Guys remember this is a remastered of the PS2 game, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II. Not a sequel to the awful PS5 garbage this is Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance. Buy it so they could make part III.
God I used to play this game so much back in the day on the original Xbox. I loved to play the first one on Gamecube too. I'd like to see the Champions games get ported over next because they play the exact same way as Baldur's Gate.
@UglyCasanova Same. Used to spend days at a time playing the first one. I played this one a lot too but not quite as much as the first.
These two and bards tale are on my wishlist.
Noice! Very good get! My copy is in a box somewhere but I would be happy to revisit. I find I don't remember a lot of games from highschool/undergrad now.
@Specter_of-the_OLED So are 2 of the 3 Kingdom Hearts games.
@Wilforce Do you think the remix releases only have one game on them? Do you think it’s only the PS2 game?
@faint I know the Unreal Engine is flexible enough to have been scaled down to accommodate a tangible release instead of relying on the Cloud. I think that developers are beginning to rely too heavily on the cloud to bring their games to the Switch and am generally skeptical of anything that seems too good to be true.
Second one was way better for sure.
@Half-ShellHero Still have the first one on Gamecube!
I’d kill to have a physical release of the two Dark Alliance games.
@HeadPirate oh The Temple of Elemental Evil was sooo unifinished...
Champions of Norrath next, thanks
I always wanted to play this second game, but I just had the GameCube. This news has made my morning 😀
@BlackenedHalo
Sure, but they all were. I'm not even considering the state of any game before the CO8 patch because with the exception of BG2, they were all close to unplayable without it.
And after the CO8 patch, it's was pretty good.
Great news! I'm buying this.
Guess this means I'll be having a weekend at my brother when this comes out, nice
Where the launch issues for the first entry ever patched?
Still waiting for LRG to serve up physical copies for the first game.
Yesss, my favorite of the two. The Dark Elf Monk chick is badass
I loved the first dark alliance when I was younger and I loved the second even more this news made my day. Now if we can get champions of norath afterwards and physical releases I will lose my mind.
@HeadPirate Really hoping its going to be Baldur's Gate 3
That's good. I think this one is expensive to buy for older systems.
Champions of norrath and champions of norrath return to arms were better.
As a GameCube owner back in the day I was so bummed when Dark Alliance 2 didn't come out for it but the other consoles got it. Finally I will get to play this game.
@Darknilious
Me too, but to be honest it's really hard to think a game that's been in "early access" for like 2 years and was recently announced as needing AT LEAST another year is going to be all that great.
Early access is the last resort when your pitch wasn't good enough to get any funding DISPITE already have some major blockbusters under your belt and a insanely popular IP. On top of that, you know you're going to need to sell tons of copies before reviews are out and you don't even have the confidence that you're team would produce a deliverable before pissing away all the money if you Kick Startered it.
Sure, there are some huge exceptions and some great games (subnautica) have come from early access, but when the team behind Divinity: Original Sin can't get traditional funding based on the pitch and prototype ... yeah, I'm kinda worried.
Now if only we could get Champions of Norrath and Champions Return to Arms, also developed by Snowblind Studios (now merged into Monolith). But the EverQuest license now belongs to EG7 and I have my doubts this holding company will do anything with it anytime soon, let alone remaster or re-release these classics.
@Wilforce Kingdom Hearts can totally play without the cloud. That doesn’t make 1.5 remix or 2 final mix PS2 games.
@HeadPirate Agreed, it was announced way too soon and they shouldn't use early access as a crutch.
Though that is nothing compared to their kickstart campaign for their Divinity Original Sin Board Game. That was supposed to be released December 2020 however they are nowhere near completing it. Just recently they decided to completely change many of the game elements after 6 months of radio silence.
I am super worried for Larian and their ability to get these products to market.
