Nintendo has no authority to dictate. Ironic, considering they publish Pokemon games, which takes on every so called evil you're accusing third parties of.

Broken? Check. Annual? Check. Abused microtransactions? Check. Locking Difficulties behind versions? Check. Quailty decline? Check. Two versions then a third version to follow later? Milked? Check.

Not even third parties are as bad as GameFreak and Co. But if you want to continue in the belief that Nintendo is exempted from this, then go ahead.

And you think Nintendo is exempted from this? I don't think so. They lead the charge every so often. All that comment from Nintendo reinforces, is that their a prehistoric dinosaur, living in their own bubble, thinking they can dictate third parties. This isn't the old days anymore, that approach does not fly in the console market.

This sounds like the spiritual successor to the SuperSonic Warriors series. Also 3DS first to get a DB fighting game.

I dunno, Xenoverse looks to be shaping up well. Dimps is the one behind that. But yeah, +1 for Budokai series.

Businesses don't work that way, besides the contract in place ensured both parties gained mutual gain.

Sounds like the folks in Japan more than contributed to the inevitably sequel, judging by 2.5m sold (in Japan, MC), it seems a very small sum of players in the west dipped in considering DD involved.

What do the most continuous successful home consoles have in common? Not just brand specific exclusives, not just third party games, not just a selection of popular/niche Japanese games, not just the big amount of marketing (product placement in games, ad etc, own advertising), not just a modern advancement in the industry, its the established promise of them all.

The quality of ports isn't the problem, the problem is the fanbase won't touch anything without Nintendo's stable of franchises at front and center. Hyrule Warriors & another Warriors game on Wii U proved that nicely. The problem is Nintendo is going to have work with every third party to create a Nintendo cloned version of third party games for any success. That is the problem.

So 3DS is falling and Wii U is slightly on the up (but still behind Gamecube)?

Let that be a lesson to not underestimate the selling power of third parties, well that and not enough games.

You and others compared it in response to me, so I played along in my replies, never made mention of its success on mobile platforms/comparisons at 5. I could have added Nintendo audience but the usage of "Nintendo's franchises" coupled with comment on said game on 3DS, in a word, overkill.

Well, I didn't. I knew the 3DS version wouldn't be huge in comparison, which is why I didn't make that comparison until... The 3DS version is a different beast than its counterpart.

But since it wasn't taken as a joke, i shall take it seriously. Puzzle and Dragons Z on 3DS sold 1.5 million, Puzzle and Dragons sold over 40m and Puzzle and Dragons SME has the added luxury of characters from Nintendo franchises which, will no doubt add to sales. So yes game is huge, just not on 3ds.

Interesting, another exclusive relying on Nintendo's franchises to sell to the audience. In an obvious attempt to gain their attention which otherwise wouldn't be there.

Yeah, mentioning e-shop sales is a hypothetical copout. That situation will be forever unknown, unlike the UK retail market.

Megaman is not Smash's asset, it's Capcom's asset licensed to Nintendo for usage in their game. It is Capcom's character, Nintendo doesn't get a say just because it appears in their game first.
