Re: Game Developers Conference Survey Contains Positive Findings For Nintendo Switch

Phle

@tobibra I would count full price as everything above 400kr for DS/3DS games and 450kr for Swithch/Wii U/Wii games.

The price matter has changed a bit after the 3DS got so popular and even more now that the Switch has become popular. It has been affecting prices and stocking of Nintendo games. They now stock twice as many games as they used too and they often have lower prices on older games. They used to only stock selected games and never re-stock them when they sold out. I think maybe the availability of online games also have affected the prices, as I can usually get the games cheaper at Nintendo eShop. The stores usually want to keep selling, so they probably had to adjust. Toy stores still have scary prices though, and they are usually unaware that the same game is being sold in the store right next to them for almost half the price. They easily charge 500kr for an old DS game...

Re: Game Developers Conference Survey Contains Positive Findings For Nintendo Switch

@tobibra I’ve had to pay full price for used games, Kid Icarus was almost impossible to get, but I managed to get a used version at full price at GameStop and the game was originally from another country, no store stocked Kid Icarus until recently. I’m glad I got it used, because I got it just after launch and if you get it now, I doubt you’ll get to enjoy the online mode that was actually really awesome. I’ve also paid a lot for specific Wii games. Xenoblade Chronicles was almost impossible to get even as used, I had to look for months. Wii U games might be on sale now, but they only have the crappy ones left in stock at least for the most part. Generally Nintendo physical game copies will hurt your wallet and waiting for a “sale” is very risky. But digital gets more and more common, so I guess a lot of people will go there instead of paying a fortune for a physical copy.

Re: Soapbox: Miitomo's Days Are Numbered, But Its Death Was Written In The Stars From The Start

Phle

I’ve downloaded both Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem for my iPhone but they never really caught my attention. Miitomo did.

I guess Miitomo had a really rocky start, as it should have been launched everywhere at once. The lack of users was a problem and as almost no one invited their friends to download the app, I can see why it’s being shut down.

I am, however, crushed. It really is my favorite mobile app, I’ve had so much fun with it. I always answer “today’s featured question” and I’ve ansvered more than 500 questions since I got the app. I liked the feature that let you add a photo to your reply, it was an awesome addition and made answers more interesting. I know many people never cared for Miitomo, but I loved it.

I will hope for a similar return on the Switch, although none of my current Miitomo friends owns a Switch. And I don’t see them ever getting one. The Switch is obviously popular, but for me it has been a disappointment and I don’t see people who aren’t hardcore Nintendo fans getting one - ever. I live the in Norway, people have PS4 and PC’s for gaming. I get strange looks for just looking at Nintendo games in stores, it’s the “looser” part of the store and I look like a normal woman. Pokémon for Switch is really the only thing that will force people to get one. If they don’t like it enough to talk all their friends into buying one, the Switch will not fly as the 3DS did. That’s how the 3DS got big here, and StreetPass helped make that happen.

Re: Game Developers Conference Survey Contains Positive Findings For Nintendo Switch

😂😂😂 Of course games sell better on Switch!

Nintendo gamers are used to paying more than players that gets the game for another console or on PC. We know there’s not going to be a possibility to wait and buy it on sale (maybe you can get 20% off online) because stores are either selling the game for full price or they’re sold out.

If you wait with getting a physical copy Nintendo console game, you better buy it now! Because the only thing that happens if you wait is: Sold out! That’s at least how it is in Norway 😌

Re: Miitomo Meets Its End On 9th May

For people wondering: My boyfriend and my cousin also use the app regularly and some other friends I have used it now and then, so I actually had posts to comment on and stuff like that.

Re: Miitomo Meets Its End On 9th May

Phle

This killed my day. I’ve been using Miitomo almost everyday since it launched in Norway. It’s the perfect app for me. I’m sick of Facebook and twitter and all that crap. This is just really sad, I’m going to need some time to recover.

Re: South Park: Fractured But Whole Coming to Switch on 13th March, says Aussie retail listing

Phle

@JayJ I just don’t like the PS4 controller. It doesn’t have a screen. I have problems concentrating and for some reason that has made me and the PS4 a bad combo. Sad actually, I wish I enjoyed it more. I play on the Wii U, the 3DS, my Mac (WoW) and the Switch. All except for the Mac has a touchscreen, but the Mac has a mouse and keyboard and that’s really accurate controls for WoW, and I really like it, so it works. I also play Pokémon Go on my iPhone, but that also is with a touchscreen.

Re: Feature: Killer Apps We Really Want To See On Nintendo Switch

Phle

@Luigi_Skywalker I have an Apple watch, but I get so many notifications constantly, because I’m in a Pokémon Go chat / raid group and they send Messages all day. I dissbled the notifications for like two weeks, but now, I have them back on... The notifications are killing me, I want to just see the time and the weather (yes, I check my wrist for the weather all the time, it’s weird), but I always use Apple Music on my iPhone and now my watch always show what song I’m currently playing. Argh. Time and weather Apple! The rest should be very optional.

Re: Feature: Killer Apps We Really Want To See On Nintendo Switch

Phle

I’m different than some people. I actively hate when I need to use more than one device at once. For me, it’s a huge setback that the Switch doesn’t have any apps or a proper web browser. I have small hands. I will only be actively using one device at a time. Meaning while I play Switch there is basically nothing social at all. Or internet in the form of information. There is a function that shows how many online friends I have, but I can’t even communicate with them. The Switch is a very lonely device, it has that pre-historic feeling, from when internet wasn’t really a thing. Like the DS. I hope Nintendo realizes this soon. The people who doesn’t care won’t mind the web browser or the YouTube app. And the customizable backgrounds. Because it’s optional to use it if the Switch gets any of that in the first place. They can stay pre-historic if they like. I want apps, customization and communication. I’m probably not the only one.

Re: First Rainway Trailer Features Switch Heavily, Despite It Not Being Listed As A Supported Platform

I have actually tried playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild while waking on a sidewalk. I am now aware of how badly this actually works, if a few people died from Pokémon Go, millions will die if they try to take intense action games on the go. It’s just really dangerous, as it’s impossible to focus on both walking, reacting to your environment and killing an enemy in an action game...

Re: Give Your Smartphone A Link To The Past With This Awesome Zelda-Themed Case

@gurtifus I doubt it too, and sadly, some people does seem to be oblivious to the fact that real leather is usually much more durable that imitated leather.

The thing is:
Imitated leather with high quality exists, but it's rare and usually expensive. Medium quality is uncommon, and low quality imitated leather is common.
On the other hand you got:
Low quality real leather is rare, while medium to good quality is common. High quality is uncommon and usually very expensive.

I like the office chair example. I have cats (indoor cats) and they turn imitated leather into shreds within a day or two.
We used to have an imitated leather office chair, but it turned ripped and destroyed fast with our cats treatment. So, we got a real leather office chair. And the cats have really tried to tear and rip it, but so far it's only small lines, that are just barely visible. That is the real test. And the real leather proved that imitated leather is usually the less durable. Exceptions does of course exist.

Re: Feature: What We Want From Nintendo In 2018

Phle

@Anti-Matter Well, I have a drawing game on my iPhone and several drawing apps. If you wish to try it, download “Draw Something” from the App Store. You can use your finger, but your much better of using one of those tablet stylus that are made for modern touchscreens.

The Switch have a bigger screen than my iPhone even though I have a large model, so I can’t see why it wouldn’t work!

Re: Feature: What We Want From Nintendo In 2018

Phle

Apps. Background themes. A drawing game. And a fitness game, something like Wii Fit U (I still play Wii Fit U all the time). And more games (obviously). I would like to see Pokémon, Animal Crossing and Ace Attorney in 2018 ✨✨

Re: Reggie on Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon Sales Performance on the Switch

Phle

Nintendo can’t complain, 2017 has really been good for them.

I still miss proper Nintendo Directs though. Since Iwata died, they really haven’t been the same. Sadly, I think they died with him.

I loved those directs so much. They where my reason for playing Nintendo games. So of course, I’m back to playing World of Warcraft.

Re: Buyers Guide: Nintendo Switch Price, Where To Buy, Best Games And Accessories

Phle

I have to recommend the waterfield design CitySlicker with a leather strap, so you can carry it as a purse. I love it. It was expensive, but it’s actually the best part of my Switch so far... It has plenty of space & does an amazing job of protecting the Switch. You can also look stylish while carrying it, and if you’re a grown woman like me, it really matters.

Re: Video: Here Are The 21 Best Switch Games Money Can Buy Right Now

Phle

Breath of the Wild on top again. I force myself to play a little everyday, but after close to 200 hours I don’t enjoy the game anymore.
I’m such a huge Zelda game fan, every other Zelda game I’ve played have been amazing experiences.
I don’t agree that the combat system is interesting. I slam my sword at everything, without any tactics, I think it’s sad that they don’t offer you fun ways to use your sword like they did in Twilight Princess, hell make that most other Zelda games. Against strong enemies, I just buy as many bomb arrows I can and fire away. I don’t know of any other way I can defeat strong enemies, they should have added a long tutorial for people who basically don’t own any imagination whatsoever.
I still haven’t gotten any story feeling. I have a few short videos I’ve been watching over an over, but they don’t really give you much to go on... I’ve been walking aimlessly for hours, in order to find the spots I have pictures of. I still have three I haven’t found. Walking and walking, I feel like I’ve been everywhere.
I don’t want to defeat Ganon without a story. That’s the saddest outcome I can think of, that’s just plain depressing.
I don’t like what they did with the music, when you’re already feeling like you can’t think of anything that would give you some story progress, it’s not very uplifting that there barely is music. The music is so subtle I feel like putting on some other music to cheer me up while playing without a single sip of progress...
I miss the dungeons. The shrines just doesn’t compare.
Talking to Beatle is one of the few uplifting features, he’s always so cheerful, the only bright person in the game so far. I always buy from him, even though I don’t need any of the stuff he’s selling.
Riding around is nice, but they made sure you can’t bring your horse everywhere, even when you are willing to go a long way to do so.
The Amiibo feature is actually great.

My number one game is... I don’t think I have one yet.

Super Mario Odyssey is ok, but I hate platformers. But considering it’s mainly a platformer, it’s excellent. The only platfromer I don’t hate.

Re: Review: Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Switch eShop)

Phle

So, does this game work ok as a sequel to the original 3DS first entry? I played that a long time ago (and I still have it), but I still remember the story, so I think it would be nice if I could get this game without the Switch version of the first one.

Re: Switch On Track To Exceed 10 Month Wii Sales By 20 Percent, Says NPD Analyst

Phle

The Switch is the most disapponting Nintendo console I’ve ever own. At least this far. It’s kind of lacking apps and that “fun” and “happy” Nintendo feeling. The second worst is the Wii. My favorites is the New 3DS XL and the Wii U. Yes, you heard me. The Wii U! I used it today, the only gaming console I’ve used today!

Re: Review: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Switch)

Phle

Not decided on this game yet. I think it might be too open for me, I stuggle with lack of imagination. And besides, I haven’t finished Super Mario Odyssey. I have a pile of games bought, but not yet played, and they have priority over this. Also; the new World of Warcraft expansion looks super fresh. That means: I’m going to have to get my characters ready.

Re: Wii U's Failure Is Responsible For Switch's Success, Says Reggie

Phle

I love Reggie. I don’t care if he’s not right all the time. No one is right all the time. He’s awesome. He’s the Reggienator. His body is ready!

I love my Switch, but so far I’ve enjoyed the Wii U far more. I still use the Wii U to watch Crunchyroll at the dinner table everyday. Because of the screen on the GamePad, I can watch the GamePad and my BF can watch the TV. So we can face each other while we eat and watch Crunchyroll. PlayStation 4 pro doesn’t offer that option, so we use the Wii U. The second screen was always an incredible idea.

Re: This Is The Most Touching Miiverse Tribute Of Them All

Phle

@AlternateButtons it doesn’t help if it has a billion users! Even 2 billion wouldn’t do it! No one uses it for talking about games! Now, I don’t have anywhere to find people to discuss games anymore. I guess the forums at NintendoLife might do it, but I can’t access NintendoLife from my Switch... That’s another thing: You can’t browse Facebook or Twitter on the Switch. So then it makes even less sense. If wanted to browse through my (imaginary) gaming friends opinions on a Nintendo game: I can’t use my Switch! It’s like being able to post to Miiverse, but you can’t access Miiverse. It’s just messed up.

Re: This Is The Most Touching Miiverse Tribute Of Them All

Phle

I just stopped using Miiverse this summer, because I didn't want to face reality with the fact that it was going to be shut down. It's so sad, I really wish Nintendo could have kept Miiverse, it's one of the best ideas they have had when it comes to being social with others on Nintendo devices. Now, I don't have anyone to ask if I'm stuck in a game. And then I'll end up using Google to solve it. Using Gooogle makes me depressed.
AND I DON'T USE TWITTER OR FACEBOOK FOR GAMING! DOES ANYONE? WHY DOES NINTENDO THINK I DO THAT?!

Re: Nintendo Gamers Prefer Using Switch As A Handheld Rather Than Docked

Phle

I never dock my Switch. I might do it if I’m going to play with a friend someday, but that doesn’t really happen often at all... Mainly because I have few friends and most of them don’t like gaming. The problem with docking the Switch is that when you dock it, it’s stuck to the TV. That’s a bad thing. I already have a PlayStation 4 pro that’s stuck to the TV, that’s why I never use it.
