It's that time again, North American gamers, with details of this week's Nintendo Download Update treats now here. The headline arrival is rather obviously Super Smash Bros. on 3DS, though we have some other choices — including a Castlevania title's Virtual Console début — to consider as well. Let's get on with it.

Missed the European Nintendo Download Update earlier this week? Fret not, the details are right here.

Wii U eShop

99Seconds (EnjoyUp Games, $2.49) — Another entry in the budget series to make the transition from DSiWare to the Wii U eShop, this time around it's all about a race against time. It very much brings to mind greedy arcade coin-ops, which we rather admired in our DSiWare review; we'll take a fresh look at the home console version soon.

Red Riding Hood (Brave Rock Games, $1.00) — Listed as edutainment, this appears to be an interactive storytelling app for young children, with some minor choices given to change the path of the story. We're see what big teeth this one has in our review.

Wii U Virtual Console

Castlevania: Dracula X (Konami, $7.99) — This is the SNES port of the PC Engine's Castlevania: Rondo of Blood; this is the first arrival of this version on the Virtual Console in the West. It may not necessarily stand up to the heights of some of its contemporaries, but fans of the franchise will likely find much to like; we'll get to slaying fiendish beasts in our upcoming review.
