@Dee123 I love the NL community, but it's probably the most white-knighty when it comes to situations like this right next to Kotaku.
With that being said, Hale did a fine job, she never did anything wrong by accepting a job and from day 1 the other VA sounded like hot dog ***** to work with.
Level-5 needs to fire their marketing manager. Megaton Musashi was good, but had zero marketing; this one is great, but review copies were not furnished to western media. Over the summer, Fantasy Life was a massive hit, but in no part due to L5's efforts, mainly the consumer-word of mouth reputation that led to the game being a massive hit. Years ago L5 said they weren't going to release games in the west anymore because they don't sell, but if the last two years is any indicator, it's because they don't put any marketing efforts into the western markets.
I've owned TR Definitive on multiple platforms, and as much as I love the game, the Switch 2 version is certainly not the definitive edition; it feels like the original version with all the DLC tacked on. Still, fun to play on the Switch 2 as it's just a great game to begin with.
For all the folks wondering about FPS, Metaphor:ReFantazio which runs on the same engine as P3R also runs like hot dogshit on modern consoles. I was trying to both Metaphor and P3R to run on my old Ally X at 60 fps to no avail, so this is not a Switch 2 issue, it's a Sega/Atlus optimization issue across the board. Sure the S2 isn't as powerful as a PS5, but this game really has no excuse as it doesn't look like it's an asset heavy game. Still, I'll be playing this on Switch since it's my most comfortable console to play on these days.
If the quality of the port is anything like Outlaw's, I think Shadows will perform quite well on Switch 2. It runs pretty well on my Legion Go, but I prefer gaming on my Switch 2 these days as the console weighs less, so I'll end up playing it there if the performance reviews well.
@larryisaman I hear you, it took me nearly three years to actually beat it because the early chapters are an absolute chore, but the story is so good its worth sticking with till the end.
@MirrorFate2 Oh absolutely, I'm not discounting that. I don't know what the deal is, but both Metaphor: ReFantazio and P3R both run like crap on handheld PCs which are slightly stronger than the Switch 2, but neither game appears graphically intensive. I'm not sure which engine Atlus is using, but they should really make adjustments to ensure their games are running properly on modern hardware.
I've played P3R on my old Ally X before it died and I can say in full confidence this game would have struggled to perform on Switch 1 unless if it was running at like 480p. Not sure if its how they optimized the game, but it does seem resource heavy and doesn't shock me that it is running at 30fps on S2.
Still a day 1 purchase for me since GKC are not the Greek tragedy a majority of S2 owners make them out to be.
I pick up almost every Metroid game off out of principal (aside from those Federation Force spinoffs), but I feel the franchise's identity of a lone bounty hunter exploring places people were not meant to go was lost by Prime 3. Metroid's strength has always been the narrative silence and mystery the player experiences. Well, at least she isn't slamming Monster energy drinks in the trailer.
I love these types of options in ports; I typically return to games I've already beaten just to re-experience them on handheld and FF7 is one of those.
@vesemir0 I’ve picked it up on PS5 pro, PC where I’ve played it on my rig and legion go S (SteamOS), and switch, and I’m shocked that the most consistent performance I get is on switch. I hope bloober releases Silent Hill 2 on switch once the ps5 exclusivity is expired
This is one of the first ports I've enjoyed on my Switch 2 over my Legion Go S/PC; it's rock solid in handheld and with the dbrand case it's super comfortable to play for prolonged periods.
I'm stunned this maintains 30 fps per the review. I'm running it on a pretty decent gaming rig at medium settings and I encounter frequent stutters. Then again optimization issues could cause that...
Wage disputes aside, HT should have never name-dropped Jennifer Hale, it's petulant and bitter. I have the feeling this won't be the last time we hear about Taylor dragging Jennifer Hale's name through the mud either as potentially good sales and potentially positive reviews start appearing for Bayo 3 and make mention of Hale doing a fine job in the role (if she indeed does that is).
Having it on both modern console(s) and switch, yeah, no **** it will look worse on older hardware. With that being said, I don't think the graphics comparison is the draw for a majority of people who want to play it conveniently in an armchair. In fact, even with it looking worse and missing MP, I've put more mileage in on the Switch version than any other.
Well, taking a look at Taylor's career via IMDB, it's certainly not as diverse or large as Jennifer Hale's, and since the first Bayonetta 2009, has had only 9 gigs, six of which were here voicing Bayonetta.
Not to place blame, but she's well aware of Bayonetta's popularity and it would absolutely not surprise me if she over-valued her compensation, especially if the rumors of residuals are true.
With that being said, only two things are certain. 1) One of these two parties is full of **** and 2) I will be playing Bayonetta 3 on day 1 regardless as I refuse to boycott a piece of work based on 1 person's claim, impacting and undermining the effort of so many people that had no involvement with this aspect of the game's development.
Ubisoft has so many sales that you might as well start reporting when their games are selling for full price and not the other way around. Same goes for Capcom.
Honestly, I love P5 and will be happy to play it again on Switch, but it's one of those games where despite its aesthetic design, you can just tell way more is going on under the hood.
I really hope this runs at a stable 30 fps at least; recent fps drops have been killing me on the Switch.
@Gitface EXACTLY. And let's be honest, the first time you played Guitar Hero, it was pretty mind-blowing. 40 sequels in six years didn't help the franchise to age well though.
Perfectly stated. It kinda gets under my skin when articles are published where the terminated party is victimized and the client/company is villainized.
Sure, corporations are concerned with the bottom line, but co-employment can be a huge issue and lead to the dismantling of both the vendor and client if it gets out of hand.
Having worked staffing and been on both sides of the HR fence, this guy made a huge mistake with tweeting anything. If you are bound by an NDA, you do not take to social media with even the vaguest observations of your current project.
As for the unionization inquiry, you never ask the client about it. That right there is a trigger for co-employment and is a fireable offense for most organizations; especially given the loaded (but understandable) nature of the question.
I was playing MGS 2 HD this past weekend on my Series X and damn, the nostalgia for Konami when they actually cared about their gaming division between 86 and '08 (and that's stretching it) got me feeling sad.
@SmileMan64 I was an toddler when the Super Mario Bros Super Show was on the air, so it didn't resonate with me as much as the acid-laced fever dream that's the 1993 film. I swear that movie needs a Criterion (or Arrow) release.
@ohithere Your Clap Hanz PSA is the most important part of an existing direct that we didn't get in the west today, plus the only shadow-drop I ended up downloading.
@Lizuka Totally agree with you. As a lifelong fan since the original Zelda, I know I will play this, but I wasn't a huge fan of BotW. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer traditional Zelda structure starting with Link to the Past.
The Fatal Frame Zero reveal was a delight, but honestly I'm missing the availability of Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess. I get the two Zelda ports not being announced with TotK being in such close proximity, but I am incredibly salty that Nintendo knows that folks have been waiting for some Prime re-release or 4 news and is most likely holding it hostage.
@Sam_ATLUS Agreed. Odin Sphere resonated with me the least, but I think I'd actually be more absorbed by it on the Switch. Similarly, I didn't really connect with 13 Sentinals on PS4, but have beaten it on Switch.
@BloodNinja Don't get me wrong, I love my Switch, but I wouldn't purchase one this late into the life-cycle. The device is struggling to run it's most-recent first-party games and there's just too much shovel-ware released on the eshop for me to care about most of the news.
@DjinnFighter I'd be jealous because I am a huge fan of Legend of the Mystical Ninja for SNES, but then I remember Europe was screwed out of a bunch of Square games in the SNES era.

Re: Ball X Pit Will Breakout On Switch 2 Next Week, Free Upgrade For Switch 1 Owners
Great news, though after playing the base version on Switch 2, not sure if it even needs a S2 version; the jagginess complements the visuals.

Anyone who says they haven't discovered music through video games and has played Rock Band or Guitar Hero is simply full of ****.
With that being said, I think it's worth asking gamers if game OSTs have influenced their current taste in music.
For me I think a combination of 8/16 bit era OSTs coupled with my love of 80's films have influenced my obsession with Synthwave.

These ads are fun, but with how much love Nintendo actually gives franchises like Zelda and Metroid, they feel disingenuous.
