@Coversnail They wouldn't set a target of 13.5 mil units if they were depending solely on software. I'd love and announcement, but I'd ignore the thirsty youtubers, logic says it's early next year.
@johnedwin Console gaming market? No, it's Japan behind the US. These are Jim Ryan's words as well China has a big market but it's mobile gaming mostly
This was a long time coming... Why Sony has been mistreating the second biggest gaming economy in the world us beyond me While I think it's overall bad news, the muted response from Sony fans is hilarious
Depending on who you speak to, yeah sure competition is good. But I think it's worth waiting more than a few days for the honeymoon flush and recency bias to pass before the real comparisons are made.
No chance of Baldur's gate 3? Considering Larian ported Divinity 2 to the Switch I'd say there's a chance for sure. Elden Ring would be the pick. Red dead 2 would also make sense given the first one was specifically ported to Switch recently. RE4 is a given but not a 'Skyrim' moment.
Yeah respectfully disagree, when it comes to making a menacing villain less is more. Yammering away at a camera and making him less enigmatic would take away that sense of dread when you do see him Sephiroth is a great example of what happens when you try to do too much with a villian
Almost tripling PS5 numbers, very impressive... Remember reading that if it wasn't for stock the Switch would be outsold, now the goal posts have changed, as they always do with Sony fans. Instead they should face facts, in the second largest gaming market in the world the console war is over
@burgerkingsauce Ok, but then the digital edition isnt the console being sold. These consoles are bought physically too. 3500 copies of a game isn't alot
Someone has to explain to me how Sony can sell 33000 consoles, but not manage to sell 3500 copies if any single game to enter the top ten. I understand this doesn't track digital sales, but if I enter a store to pick up a system, you pick up a game with it. Further proof that despite the increased hardware sales, Sony has serious issues in Japan.
Well, the Japanese government thinks A.I robots will fix it by having them do the menial tasks.
Imagine, putting millions in A.I robots instead of relieving financial stress on families.
Compared to that, Kamiya's claim is genius
My favourite is the Dusk trilogy, in particular Esca and Logy. The best combat of the series and a great, more sober setting. The mysterious trilogy was a letdown overall for me, too sweet and ditsy.
Not that this means there will be a buyout, but if any company should, it's Nintendo. Mad world, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2 and Astral chain, they always do thier best work when they partner up
Atlus being Atlus. Kind've silly to ignore the only successful console in Japan, especially when SMT V became the best selling mainline SMT entry ever in a month
Surprised at the score, I picked this up day one and saw the credits role yesterday. It's fun, took a second to click.
Haven't had any of the problems it mentions, like bad handheld performance or off screen projectiles, it's also far more visually striking than its inspiration.
Don't know why they use Akira in the Japanese VO but called him Copen in English. Akira is the cooler name imo
Anyway, very excited for this, Copen's games are far better than it's mainline counterpart, Gunvolt
SMT V is a wonderful game, well deserved, and that's not including digital sales either. What's with PS5? Less than 5000 units is embarrasing...by comparison Switch sold almost 90000.
@abugida no I don't think that, by you're logic they've abandoned the home console market Neither are entirely true, it's considered a hybrid for a reason, it's both whether you wanna compare it or not
@sanderev @abugida Because it can be used as a handheld it doesn't count? That's absurd.
It's designed to be played on a TV
It's priced as a home console
It plays home console games
Nintendo has stated it's a home console
It's a home console
@abugida Having a handheld only variation doesn't mean it wasn't originally sold as a home console. If Sony release a PS4 portable during the PS4s lifetime, would that invalidate it too?
Comparing it just to other handhelds is a defense mechanism for those who want to wall it off from it's accomplishment
Oh ok, an NL writer said it, it must be true then...
@abugida I knew we'd see this as the Switch approached the PS4...
It isn't nonsensical, it's a portable version of what was released as a home console hybrid, priced as a home console.
It's like saying the more powerful PS4 pro can't be included with the PS4 because it isn't the same hardware
@madmaxjp in Japan it sold 130000 units in the first week, and 40000 in the second week, and can't be found anywhere. Comparitively the PS5, which is alot like the system you want your Switch to be, sold 16000, and that's a good week. I think Nintendo aren't as stupid as you think
@Serialsid compared to the Switch though, it's being hammered. The console war is over in Japan, they can send all the stock they have, it won't make a difference
All switch systems combined outsell the PlayStation 5 systems more than 3 to 1 It isn't stock shortages, the PS4 in it's prime did something like this, nothing will change with the ps5 I think
@BloodNinja judging a game based on a trailer, and saying reviewers lack courage for giving a game a positive review, when they likely genuinely enjoyed it, is an unhealthy and shallow thought process.
@BloodNinja most reviewers do say what they think, it's just that you'll only want to believe the review that validates this baseless opinion of yours. You're too ready to dislike this game no matter what reviews say, because that "trailer looks lifeless". That's shallow
If there's one Atelier pack you must play, it's the Dusk trilogy, at that price it's a steal, theyre top tier RPGs and my personal favourite atelier games
This article is kind, but this negativity shows how out of touch gaming journalists are at times.
Everyone I spoke to at the time was excited for it, it didn't feel like a failure.
The wiiu was a failure yes, but the 3ds, ds and Wii before it were great successes
They might have exited the home console market, but Nintendo always has dominated the handheld market, they weren't gonna give that up to make games on other consoles
It's straight up embarrassing that Sony couldn't even break the top 30 in their home country, this is less about how well the Switch is doing and more about how irrelevant the PlayStation brand is becoming in Japan
It's got nothing to do with PS5 demand issues, the PS4 at it's peak never hit the heights of the Switch, and neither will PS5.
The console war is over in Japan
I wouldn't call selling 4.45 million units in Q1, far more than any recent console in the last 9 years, a 'slump', it's a very impressive number, so you know, take your fking hat off
@Abeedo but the wiiu didn't put profits before customer satisfaction, the opposit actually. Nintendo took a loss on every wiiu console sold initially, this isn't a valid example
@Heavyarms55 You just changed my life, thank you! Seriously though, it's a real waste of time to argue about the principle when the power will always lie with the consumer

Really looking forward to the full game
