Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A And Pokémon HOME Connectivity Scheduled For 2026

NeoKoala

@Haruki_NLI From what I keep hearing online, apparently Gamefreak are planning on removing the Individual Values (IV) from Pokemon. To which some are already calling Z-A and Champions as part of Gen 10's lineup of spinoffs.
My personal guess as to the why is that this is GF's attempt to combat hacked Pokemon after what happened at that tournament, and so that it's easier for people to get into VGC.

Re: Perfect Dark Voice Actor Calls On Fans To Help Series "Survive"

Considering that Banjo-Kazooie fans had a massive outcry and support for the franchise to return and, the higher ups noticing but at the same time not seeing the appeal for future projects, as well as the cancellation of projects from other studios such as Crash 5 (featuring Spyro). I sadly don't see Microsoft doing anything despite support.

Re: Banjo-Kazooie Composer Explains Why He Thinks Another Game Is Unlikely

There are a lot of good platformer games out there but these days they seem to be struggling. I know that Kirkhope is a composer, but in a way, he is right; these games need an audience way above the million mark. There have been some great 3D platform releases like Bakeru and Yooka Laylee, but at the same time, we don't see much traction with them. Then there are the platformers that get abandoned because their companies had their expectations way too high like the unfortunate occurrence with Rayman and Crash. Rayman has barely seen the light of day due to the low sales of the last game and that was a decade ago and Crash 5 and all future projects getting cancelled because 4 didn't sell as much copies as the Nsane Trilogy.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is Apparently Set "Entirely" Within Lumiose City

NeoKoala

@EarthboundBenjy Ys IX was what I was thinking in comparison too. Even not counting the outer grasslands outside of Balduq there were areas like the farm and the entrances to the sewer and dungeons. Maybe in this game, we see places adapted from Paris that couldn't be seen or added in the original X and Y games. Maybe catacombs, stone quarries or mines, lakes, nature parks, cemeteries, maybe something that involves catching while flying. Maybe we get to see how wild Pokemon adapt to the city if that is what they're going with depending on the setting or even timeline of this redevelopment. Even then would be interesting to see what they've come up with for Lumiose.

Re: Feature: The Mysterious Absence Of A Famicom Gem On Switch

NeoKoala

Yeah, I was hoping for a revival ever since Kamiya from Platinum Games mentioned wanting a revival, only to get Star Fox Zero instead; that hope decreasing the more years pass by. Though from the looks of it I'm starting to get an impression that there's a lack of confidence in reviving long-dormant IPs outside of virtual console and NS online. And when there is such as Advance Wars and Famicom Detective Club, there's a massive lack of promotion, or the game is not releasing somewhere. Although I can guess that lack of popularity or revenue may be factors.

Re: Taiwanese Rating Suggests That The Original No More Heroes Is Heading To Switch

NeoKoala

@Severian I believe it was also to avoid getting a CERO Z rating in Japan since that’s what happened to several of Suda games. They have a problem with human on human violence if there’s blood and gore (among other things). Not sure if it’s still happening there but mostly games that are labeled Z by Cero are legally regulated and cannot be sold or displayed on the main floor of stores (they could only be sold in stores that contain a “Z” room which is Adults only).

Re: Sakurai Says There's A "High Probability" Of Smash Bros. DLC Development Not Proceeding As Scheduled

NeoKoala

@Bizzyb I actually agree, they really need to learn to evolve in the case of this type of scenario. The reason why I say it is because again I've seen it very often in entertainment companies and have been resistant to change despite the benefits. These are the type of companies that are way too overprotective of their equipment and on an Extremely Worse scale their character IPs.

Re: Sakurai Says There's A "High Probability" Of Smash Bros. DLC Development Not Proceeding As Scheduled

NeoKoala

@Bizzyb Its probably due to character/ IP handling I've seen it really often in entertainment companies where they would exclusively discuss these things in person, even if the meeting place is on a closed room on the other side of the planet and all key members have to be present in that room.

If Covid-19 were to appear in the Smash Bros development offices (and possibly infect an entire crucial dev. team) all productions would have to cease since each member of the team will have to be sent home or to a medical facility. Videogame companies rely heavily that the development teams work on the same building and that the crucial equipment never leaves the building and in the case of Smash Bros. Sakurai as the game director has to monitor it all.
