Re: Here's How To Get Mythra's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Outfit In Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Nanoline52

@Starvald All it seems to display to me is that people are for looking at, or did you miss some of these chiseled hunks of “take me” they threw in there? And this was just a handful at a glance, plenty of good looking dudes in brief or skin-tight attire in that universe. Seems like both sides of the aisle are getting some nice looking folks, so I see no issue here.

Unless the next argument is that every character ought to be covered as much as possible.

@Starvald The problem is that you compared a largely harmless cultural point to one that is decidedly more controversial on a worldwide scale. A more accurate cultural argument would be comparing Japan’s penchant for fanservice to Americans enjoying country music, or Hindus in India not consuming beef, or Brits being highly specific about what goes with what tea. Bullfighting actively harms a living creature for entertainment. No one is being harmed by Pyra’s thighs except a handful of overly sensitive snowflakes who project to astounding degrees.

Heck, for all we know, in the world of Xeno, her attire could in fact be a cultural norm, given how it compares to others in the game. Folks could very well be applying an entirely incorrect set of values onto it.

(And before anyone even tries to say “well are you saying that if a game had a culture where women could be raped that it would be okay because of culture?!”, no, no I’m not - I’m speaking specifically and strictly of harmless fanservice that hurts no one but the eyes of the frail and prude.)

Re: Video: YouTube Content Creators Team Up With Nintendo To Promote Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Nanoline52

Who the hell are these people? And who the hell are they supposed to be influencing?

You want to partner with someone, Ninty? Try IAMWILDCAT, try TheGamingTerroriser, try BigJigglyPanda, or MooSnuckel, or BasicallyIDOWRK, or VanossGaming, or ChilledChaos, or Smii7y, or MiniLadd. Those guys are the reason I bought Mario Kart 8, because their videos were damn hilarious, felt real, and certainly didn’t smack of this kiss-ass feeling I’m getting out of these goobers.

Re: Gallery: Check Out These Screenshots From The Fear Effect Reinvented Demo At Paris Games Week 2018

Nanoline52

What'll be more interesting in a way is if Fear Effect 2 will make its way to the console; for the time it was both one of the most sexual and one of the most eagerly violent games of the time (no, seriously, look up the YouTube vids of all the ways to die in FE2 - special mention to the elevator shaft one!). A few years ago, never, but with modern Nintendo and what has made it to Switch? Quite possibly. Granted, I'm not really interested in either game, but I do think that it makes for an interesting measurement of where Nintendo now stands on such content.

As a counterpoint to the no-fun brigade above, I actually like lighthearted and fun stories like this, and they do keep me coming back to NintendoLife versus other sites. If anything the only issue on this site is the incredible sensitivity of the commentators most of the time to anything outside of their little happy comfort box.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Maddening Stance On Retro Gaming Is Driving Me To Piracy

Nanoline52

@nintey_cola With that attitude you should probably change your name to nintey_koolaid

@Anri02 You did read the article right? He's not telling people to pirate at all, he's pointing out the very real issue that Nintendo's own ridiculous handling of retro is making it so that there's no option to play certain games except piracy, when they could just release many of those games and make a fat buck instead, yet refuse to do so.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Maddening Stance On Retro Gaming Is Driving Me To Piracy

Nanoline52

The most frustrating thing about all of this is that Nintendo HAD this figured out more or less. I've still got my 3DS Ambassador games, including all those lovely GBA titles that to this day you can't play on the system without hacking. The fact that they never actually released them for purchase despite that they clearly worked was just asinine. I love playing Sacred Stones and Minish Cap and Metroid Fusion and Kirby on my 3DS, and I'm 100% certain that people would have killed to be able to buy those games. But apparently despite having ten working GBA titles for 3DS, Nintendo decided that they didn't like money instead.

Re: Pokémon The Movie: The Power Of Us Will Hit UK Cinemas In November And December

Nanoline52

@DanteSolablood Not Sun/Moon. The films rebooted - they did one called I Choose You that retconned the intro of the anime and the start of Ash's journey to bring in later-gen Pokémon and remove Misty and Brock. Now this movie is continuing from that one in, apparently, redoing/retconning the Lugia film with a very similar premise but again without the known characters. Basically the films are no longer following the anime timeline, current or old, at all and are inventing a new world altogether, except still with Ash and all his general idiocy, minus character development.

Re: Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Design Director Laughs Off Question About Switch Release

Nanoline52

Have not played, nor cared about playing, a Call of Duty game in years other than watching the stories of MW1-3 and Black Ops 1 on YouTube. That's even as someone who owned a PS3, a 360, a WiiU/Wii, a PSP, a 3DS, and a PC. I have far more fun going back and playing Red Faction I and II or Syphon Filter 1-3 or Metroid Prime or Dirge of Cerberus or whatever else. CoD just seems stale gameplay-wise now, and even if I were to get one now, I'd never dream of buying it new at $60+ when they regularly drop to $20 or less secondhand within a month of release.

Re: Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard Has Been Transformed Into A “Fatal Cutie” In SNK Heroines

Nanoline52

I'm just going to quietly take the opportunity to be "that guy" fifty comments in and note that my girlfriend finds this entirely nibelsnarfing hilarious and is looking to buy the game for the sheer ridiculousness, the same way she did Senran Kagura and other such games, and upon me mentioning the objections in the comments to the boobs/sexualization etc, she answered, "Oh who cares?"

If you don't like this thing in games, I mean, okay I guess. But y'all need to stop acting like it's the downfall of society when a game does this. Terry's tenacious tatas aren't going to stop a woman from becoming president someday.

Re: Soapbox: The Super Mario Movie Might Not Be All That Great

Nanoline52

Oh for gods sake, the news just broke yesterday. For all you know we could get Paper Mario 64/TTYD tier writing out of it. We know literally nothing at all about the movie, no trailer, no teaser trailer, no interviews, not even freaking concept art. If there was ever a damn definition of fake news, this is it right here. Good lord.

Re: Random: Pokémon Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over Pikachu Talking

Nanoline52

I'll leave the same comment here I did on Facebook a while ago:

My issue isn't that Pikachu speaks.

My issue is that the movie was unnecessarily garbage.

They claimed it would be a 20th anniversary celebration of the past, then started by removing Misty, Brock, and Gary from existence and giving us three no-name one-note literal-whos walking around with Gen 4 and Gen 5 Pokémon. They had Ash outright say that he wished he'd had a different starting Pokemon besides Pikachu (or his Charmander who just lost), a STUNNING statement coming out of him, and one made even more incomprehensible since in the original series he had ALL THREE STARTERS PLUS PIKACHU, making this an artificially generated retcon for the sake of out-of-character "drama" jerkdom. And we had Team Rocket show up three times, only to NEVER INTERACT WITH OR MEET ASH EVEN ONCE.

The sins of this movie far outnumber this one misguided scene with Pikachu.

Re: Retail Version of DOOM on Switch Will Need a Download for Online Multiplayer

Nanoline52

Ouch, losing the level editor sucks. Have to assume though that we're losing it because Nintendo doesn't want to have to monitor and moderate any "mature" map entries (i.e.: custom maps that from the top-down look like breasts etc), and Bethesda generally hasn't actively monitored every single uploaded map. Company image versus practicality.

I could of course be wrong, but that would absolutely fit the Nintendo mold for content on their systems out of their own control.

I'm more curious about what will happen with Phantasy Star Online 2, since that was announced for the Switch in Japan yesterday.

Re: Smash Melee Champ Resigns from All-Male Rules Committee To Encourage Broader Representation

Nanoline52

@PtM Skilled female players? Like the ones they invited, who turned it down out of a lack of interest?

I think a better question is why do you feel the need to demand their representation when they, in this case, didn't seem all that interested in participating to begin with?

Heck, we even now know that the woman in this article WASN'T re-offered the position, a different woman was, but then the first jumped out with a big announcement that she'd take the position despite not being asked, stomping her way over a fellow female player in her rush to get to the top of the "represent women" pile.

It's not even a question anymore like it was an hour ago, this is just some plain ol' self-important bullllllshit on her part.

Re: Smash Melee Champ Resigns from All-Male Rules Committee To Encourage Broader Representation

Nanoline52

@Tarvaax I would question the use of "necessary evil" there; there's nothing evil about additional female representation. My issue is the stated motivation of this particular one. Worded the way it was, it sounded less to me like "ideological symbol" and more "spotlight on just me".

However, that could also be the fault of reporting or quoting; certainly none of us have spoken to her on that point.

@KcebEnyaw They weren't specifically asking women nor men, they were asking community veterans. And once they had the panel they stopped asking. It's entirely possible that there were more women (and men) who could have been potential candidates, but once they had the roster they didn't need to ask anymore. That's not deliberate discrimination at all.

Re: Smash Melee Champ Resigns from All-Male Rules Committee To Encourage Broader Representation

Nanoline52

@jedisquidward How would you know whether anyone here plays Smash or not? And did you honestly just post a "fite me" comment? ._.

@PtM How is is deserved when you turn down the position, then say you're interested only because you'd be the only one of a particular group on the team?

@Spennymoor Agreed completely. We need more representation via players of all genders who are in it for the good of the stated goal of the community. That will undoubtedly benefit everyone.

Re: Smash Melee Champ Resigns from All-Male Rules Committee To Encourage Broader Representation

Nanoline52

@Tarvaax Again, my only issue with this is that they DID offer to women, who turned it down, so the committee found others to fill the role, and suddenly they're the supposed villains, and now we're putting someone who DECLINED the position into the committee, who stated herself that she had no interest until she found out she'd be the only woman.

What the hell does that say about priorities?

Re: Super Mario 64 Online Creator Says "Nothing Can Stop" the Fan Project

Nanoline52

@Luna_110 Boy, only took us six comments to get the inevitable "hurr why cant people be ORIGINAL" comment. The worst thing about the heavy handed approach companies take with their fans these days is that they've managed to get other fans to put down expressions of fandom for them, like showing your love for a game by creating something related to it is somehow a deplorable act.
