Re: Feature: Monster Hunter Rise Director Talks RE Engine On Switch

Multiboy2k

I wasn't originally going to post this. Because, what I have to say may hurt some feelings. But, as a veteran MH fan with literally over 15k hours(yes that's 15000) into the entire franchise since inception, my thoughts count.

The biggest issue with the series is that Capcom has absolutely abandoned what the core game was. While I think Monster Hunter World, Iceborne, and even Monster Rise are beautiful and are technical marvels, NONE of these games are actual Monster Hunter (tm) games. They are something else.

Let me explain.
The true spirit behind Monster Hunter was that it was a HUNTING SIMULATOR.
Yes, you hunt monsters. But, the magic of the games was that you got to explore these beautiful luscious lands while learning to HUNT. In truth, you spent more time actually preparing for the hunt than the hunt itself. These games were 85%+ preparation and 15% actual fight. These games were NEVER supposed to make your life easier. If you came out on a hunt even slightly unprepared, you paid for it. And, running into a monster wasn't some arcadey hack and slash affair that would last 10 minutes.. maybe like in Rise. But, It was a truly scary tangle-up that could go the whole 50 minutes! Why do we care about this? Because it was satisfying. Even when you slayed your first Kut-Ku it was satisfying. Because the amount of work you put in was tantamount to being on an actual real world HUNT.

In Rise, there is zero penalty for not being prepared. As matter of fact, the game has been made so easy for you with it's Palamutes, wirebugs, and it's ability to magically send you back to any number of base camps, you will never run out ammo or need to remember that this a Capture not Hunt mission so you need traps & tranqs. It's all there unlimited! This is not very satisfying over time. The core formula that made MH 'work' was it's hardcore nature.

This was a long read, I get that.
But, Capcom, you are going the wrong way with this game. The solution is to go back the 'other' way back to it's core roots. Instead of straining and squeezing desperate tech out of the Switch with new Engines and such, most long term fans would have been absolutely ecstatic with a completely remastered version MH4U. Out of all of the Monster Hunter games created, most agree that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate was a masterpiece. It was the true pinnacle of what the game actually is vs what it's slowly becoming today.

Re: Limited Run Announces Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection Vol.1 Physical Release, 10 Classics On One Switch Cartridge

Multiboy2k

I have been looking at this collection for soo long in my wishlist. But, can't pull the trigger at it's current price point because it is missing ONE game that would not only round out the balance of the Collection, but would also fill a much needed void on the Switch. Adding this game would be a no-brainer insta-buy for most people. And it would add depth and 'brains' to a collection of mostly fighters. Digital is the way I play though.

Card Fighter's Clash 1 or 2.

Either one would be fine at this point.

I'm so utterly disgusted by ALL of this.
This young man had so many children looking up to him. And, he even had adults who were too ashamed to be themselves, as fans who found inspiration in his courage to be who he is.

And, now we see his truth. While it is entirely his truth and his prerogative as a grown man. You would think that he would at least consider the poor impact that this will have on his young and impressionable fan base. Extremely disappointed.

Like many people, he BAMBOOZLED us.

Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The First Nintendo Direct Of 2020

Multiboy2k

where is Monster Hunter ( a real version, not a 3ds upscale), for the Switch?!
I can't believe no one is reporting or asking for this?

With Witcher 3, Doom, Assassins Creed, Alien Isolation, and other "impossible" games having been successfully made and played for the Switch, I fully expect a version of Monster Hunter World or something similar at this point.

Re: Review: Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition - A Pure Work Of Magic

Multiboy2k

I wholeheartedly agree with every single poster here who is also confused about why this perfect 10 game is scored as a '9'. When I bought that buggy mess of a cash-grab port, Pillars of Eternity, what I really wanted was THIS game. This game is one of the best RPG games ever made. Not just on the Switch, but period for ANY System. A truly excellent game on every level.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Switch Lite Might Not Be For You, But It Will Be A Smash Hit With My Family

Multiboy2k

Another ‘dadgamer’ here. And, all I want to say is that the Switch Lite is the Switch that I have been craving since inception. I personally hated the form factor and design of the original Switch. I found the device to be too ‘fiddly’, fragile, and simply too big to be considered for my day-to-day travels. I hardly ever used the dock. And, I am completely indifferent to it’s ability to connect to a television set at this juncture considering how low-spec this device is. If a ‘Switch Pro’ should ever materialize, then yes that device should be outputting 4k or atleast 1k to my television. But, I fully expect my Nintendo devices to be handheld devices. As they have been for me for the last 30+ years or so. I’m......old. And , I do vividly recall the joy my monochromed and very thic white Gameboy used to bring me.

Tldr:
The Switch Lite was made for me and for users like me.
I am counting the days....

And, thank you Nintendo.
I am a fan for life.

Re: Rumour: Dark Souls Remastered Will Be Announced Today In A Nintendo Direct Mini

Multiboy2k

Wow.
Nintendo is killing it right now!
Darkest Dungeon releases this month. And, it seems that they are getting other AAA titles signed on the roster. With this release of Dark Souls, Bayonetta, and eventually a Monster Hunter title, the Nintendo Switch is positioning itself to be the best handheld system ever created in terms of content.

Simply put, PC ports of triple A titles is absolutely the way to go.

The formula:
Nintendo 1st party titles+PC Triple AAA Ports+Unique Indie Titles= TREMENDOUS success.

And, this is not even counting non-gaming 'app' potential.
e.g. Korg Gadget which is also set to be released on the Switch this year and is an incredible music production package.

Im extremely proud to be a Switch owner at this time!

Re: Video: Nintendo Switch Controllers All Have a Power Button Hiding in Plain Sight

Multiboy2k

With all of this random stuff happening on the Switch, WHERE IS MONSTER HUNTER?!?!....asdfadsfjjk?!

I mean really, I understand Capcom not wanting to cannibalize potential selling success on the 3DS, but the Switch doesn't even have enough games to justify purchase right now. I got mine at launch and I have played it exactly four times and went right back to the 3ds to play MHX. It's a license to print money, Capcom, so make it happen soon please.

Thanks

Re: Talking Point: Important Features Yet to be Revealed for the Nintendo Switch

Multiboy2k

I swear if this thing was able to backward-play both 3DS games(in 2D mode ala 2DS) and Wii games digital library, it would be a pure license to print money. Period.

The world already owns a multiplicity of 'tablets'. I own an Nvidia Shield K1 which this thing is clearly based on. So, they are not going to wow the world with that aspect. What will truly keep this thing afloat is CONTENT. Even Reggie said this at one point in a conference. So instead of rushing 3rd party developers to release new IP and pre-existing ports, we can be gleefully satiated, albeit temporarily, with a glorious backlog of games from the two previous machines. This machine is capable for sure. My Nvidia tablet emulates everything including Wii games(Dolphin) as well as android games at either fullspeed or playable framerates. I thought Nintendo liked money....

My 2 cents.

Re: Video: Let's Weigh Up the Good & Bad Things About the Nintendo Switch

Multiboy2k

No Monster Hunter. No Switch.
...of course i'm going to eventually purchase a Switch. But, my normal MO is to rush and pre-purchase, 1st adopt, and stand in line at midnite for these new Nintendo products. I have done that since the purchase of my first lovely monochromatic green Gameboy. But, now it's all about picking up the system solely because it has the games that I want to play. I must see a Monster Hunter IP on this product before I seriously consider the investment.

Re: Review: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars 3D (3DS)

Multiboy2k

I absolutely LOVE this game.
And, I have to agree with everyone who said that this is one the best game games in the 3DS library. It is well polished, at times intense, while still maintaining that pick-up-and-play appeal that works well on handhelds.

If you are a fan of the Advance Wars series, than this should be a no-brainer purchase for you.

Re: Review: Style Savvy: Trendsetters (3DS)

Multiboy2k

I love this game!
Im a guy who is not even into fashion. Most of my friends see me as 'challenged' when it comes to dressing up in real life. But, this game has been worth it for me so far. I played the demo and thought it was cool. I bought the game and cant put it down. If any of the developers are reading this, PLEASE consider adding the following via patch.

DLC with this content:
1. More MENS fashion and clothing items.
2. Runway shows over online multiplay. (the ability to watch someone else's fashion show with their clothes.)
3. This may be asking to much for DLC, but a MALE character to work in the store.
This game has wide range appeal. Make it palatable for men who play this game.

Developers: I dont know if you know this, but my research has found that your targeted demographic may not be the one you intended. There is a 15 year old girl on Gamefaqs complaining that SHE feels out of place due to the amount of adults who have picked up this game so far. Im 39. So, there is also that. lol
