I only use mobile to talk to friends and co-workers. I'd rather see more games on Switch, especially franchises that haven't even gotten a title yet on the Switch.
The bitter rivalry people think they had was mostly a product of western marketing. Sega in the west was famous for this, and a lot of people in their marketing department went over to Sony which lead to stuff like the Crash commercial.
I miss the old Sony though, after PS2 they've just gotten worse to me, especially with PS5.
@Mew2Senshi priorities, dont forget to think about the children, they can handle people dismembering each other in MK11, but anime tiddies will warp their mind.
im actually in the camp of liking the graphics while still disliking the game.
My problem was never the art, in fact i think the colors make the game look like a 3D SNES game which is pretty cool. I just think the sailing is a boring way to travel, the world was barren(could have used more continents), and taking away the time from sailing the game was only about half the length of Ocarina Of Time with a measly five dungeons.
I think people now are over compensating the backlash by going in the other direction of calling it a flawless 10/10 masterpiece. You could argue its a good or enjoyable game, but its far from perfect.
@Crono1973 why does it have to annoy you that not everyone owned a Wii U?
This isn't anything new, most of the Dreamcast popular exclusives were ported immediately to Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox. But by you're logic the people who got to enjoy those games for the first time on those systems should have just supported a console that was dead on arrival instead.
@Crono1973 the difference being the Switch having a much larger library of first and third party games with more on the horizon as opposed to the Wii U which was dead in the water most of the time which is why most people didnt get it and would rather wait till the better system to try the handful of mario games they missed.
@Crono1973 if they stick to flash cards, then backwards compatibility would be fine.
Also not quite the same, the Wii U sold poorly, so it would have been a waste to let some great games be stuck there and only purchasable as used copies with high prices.
Pretty dumb editorial, I dont see the point in feeling pride over how much you dont play a game or how you get bored of it. Do sports fans brag to each other about how they shut off the tv halfway through watching the game?
Just play how you play, this article seems like it comes from insecurity.
still could have been better choices than lousy ports of PC games or Mystic Quest which is infamously a hated game since its more of a tutorial than a standard game.
I'd add Trials Of Mana, Secret Of Evermore, A Link To The Past, Dragon Quest 5 and 6, Breath Of Fire 1, Star Ocean, Treasure Of The Rudras, Paladins Quest 1 and 2, and Robotrek.
@SuperWeird it appeals to me like how chess appeals more to some people rather than sports, you can like one or both, but they don't have to be mutually exclusive.
I don't see why criticize this one spin off for doing something different, especially considering every other game in the series is action based, including the new one coming out soon.
Cant say I'm excited as I never cared for the Xeno series, but since I love smash I'll give the character a try anyways, might as well learn the matchups too.
I just hope the higher ups at Nintendo didnt only focus on JRPG reps for the remaining DLCs, and I say that as someone who primarily enjoys JRPGs.
Is crash 4 worth full price? I held off on getting it because I was worried it was the same length content wise as only one game from the N Sane trilogy.
@Ralek85 again I dont care for RoFs style, I prefer the style BD caters to, which hasn't been the norm since the late 90s, so it makes it more annoying when people like you complain about the one game catering to a niche when there are so many other choices instead.
And numbers do speak volumes, Dragon Quest and Pokemkn sold well despite being traditional turn based.
@Ralek85 again this is subjective, I dont mind trying new things with a genre, but to say a core gameplay mechanic(in this case turn based combat) should be something else entirely is where I have a problem. So it's best to just agree to disagree, i personally dont like the Kingdom Hearts or Xenoblade style of more active combat, which is why there are games like Dragon Quest, Bravely Default, and the upcoming Eiyuden Chronicles for my taste.
To me this argument is as tired as people who demand the Souls games have an easy mode, when the appeal of the games are the difficulty and there are already a plethora of easier action RPGs to play instead.
@Ralek85 I'm not here to convince you one is better than the other, I'm just tired of this age old argument of traditional turn based having to be mutually exclusive from active turn based or action based, especially considering the latter two styles are pretty old themselves.
JRPGs biggest strength is offering something for everyone. Calling something outdated is subjective, and as I recall Dragon Quest 11, Pokemon, and Persona still sell well because there are audiences for these games, stop trying to backwards rationalize it by assuming the games succeed in spite of their gameplay.
I personally didnt enjoy FF7Rs new game mechanics, I enjoy the originals combat a lot more, and I say that as a young guy before you pull the nostalgia card. Just accept this game isnt for you, it doesnt need to be something else.
Definitely, I'm sad to see people here dont share the same love for it as I do, but from my experience with the first two games, they really shine with their surprisingly hard difficulty which force you to come up with strategies via the job system.
I'm just waiting for Amazon to deliver it, so in the meantime I'll try finishing up Mario 3D World until it arrives.
Pretty bad argument for it being good when you acknowledge its worst flaws of the game being linear and slow, and the only pro it has is its art style.
This is easily the weakest of the 3D Zeldas due to it relying on a tired formula and motion controls, and the fact that it launched alongside Skyrim really highlighted it at the time.
@ModdedInkling because it's easy money, most people would happily pay full price for a Zelda 1 or ALTTP remake. Plus, the NSO games are free, so it's not like a remake would cannibalize any sales.
Nintendo also released the remake of Metroid 2 on 3DS when the original Metroid 2 was on the eshop for years before it.
BOTW 2 might be the surprise holiday title they announce at E3, if not then they will probably just port the Wii U remasters of Windwaker and Twilight Princess to pad it out like they did with Mario 3D All Stars last year.

Re: Final Fantasy Creator Hironobu Sakaguchi Says Latest Project Could Be His Last
The perfect retirement would be getting the Dream team back together for one last game.
Re: Team Ninja Says It's "Waiting" For Ryu's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Invite
Yes, I love when they add old school reps. Fighters Pass 2 has been boring for me personally.
I think Ryu could be sort of a jack of all trades by fighting with swords, hand to hand, and magic.
Re: Poll: What Other Nintendo Franchise Would You Like To See Niantic Work On?
I only use mobile to talk to friends and co-workers. I'd rather see more games on Switch, especially franchises that haven't even gotten a title yet on the Switch.
Re: Capcom Asks For Patience Regarding Mega Man News As Battle Network Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary
Would be nice, I wrote off the series back in the day but would love to give it a second chance
Re: Feature: Best Game Boy Advance (GBA) Games
Gameboy Advance was a good handheld, I just didn't like the over reliance on SNES ports, and the lack of a definitive Mario platformer.
Re: PlayStation's Ken Kutaragi "Never" Considered Nintendo To Be A Competitor
@eltomo i dont think the add on for snes would have sold well, but the first 3D console with Nintendo and Sony teaming up would have been huge.
Re: PlayStation's Ken Kutaragi "Never" Considered Nintendo To Be A Competitor
@eltomo ehhh not really, I'd hate to see a world where Sony California imposes arbitrary standards on Nintendo.

Re: Sony And RTS Jointly Acquire Fighting Game Tournament EVO, Nintendo Responds
@LinkSword oh no, the best selling fighting game is really going to suffer because Nintendo doesnt support a 20 year old counterpart to it.

@Mew2Senshi priorities, dont forget to think about the children, they can handle people dismembering each other in MK11, but anime tiddies will warp their mind.
Re: Sony And RTS Jointly Acquire Fighting Game Tournament EVO, Nintendo Responds
Dont think Smash will be allowed in, Pyra/Mythra goes against Sony Californias core values

Re: Reminder: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Leaves The eShop On March 31st
@Crono1973 no, because it was overpriced and its game production was really slow, that doesnt mean the few games it had aren't worth playing.
I think Virtual Boy Wario Land is a good game, but it wasnt worth getting a Virtual Boy for it.

Re: Video: 2021 Is A Huge Year For Major Nintendo Anniversaries
I expect.nothing, Pokemon and Mario are the exception due to their sales, but the other games will probably just get a dlc or blurb on twitter.
If Zeldas celebration is a full priced port of Skyward Sword, then I'm not holding my breath for Metroid getting anything.
Re: Reminder: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Leaves The eShop On March 31st
I'm just glad they ported 3D World since I never owned a Wii u
Re: Get Ready For Zelda: Skyward Sword HD's "Smoother And More Intuitive" Controls
Smoother controls doesnt fix the horribly slow pacing of the game.
Re: Balan Wonderworld Is Getting A Day-One Patch To Address Demo Feedback
The demo felt mediocre even by early 2000s standards.
Re: Best Nintendo 3DS RPGs
Pretty solid list, only thing I'd add is the other Mario And Luigi games and Legend Of Legacy.
Re: Memory Pak: Looking Into The Light In Super Mario 64
This game was my gateway to videogames, still remember the Christmas of 96 when I was 4 and unwrapped it with my first N64.
I must have spent 6 straight hours playing it.

Re: Soapbox: There Might Be A Bright Side To Mario's March 31st Doomsday, After All
I think Skyward Sword IS the Zelda anniversary maybe with a more In depth BOTW2 trailer at E3.
The Zelda 30th anniversary was pretty lousy, so I dont expect anything hype for the 35th either.
Re: Feature: Best SNES RPGs
@Expa0 yup, it was Japan only, but there's a fan translation

Re: Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings Of Ruin Launches In July, Three amiibo Figures Annouced
@Beatrice Id argue it added substance rather than just spamming OP attacks to victory.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 6th)
Bravely Default 2, Mario 3D World, and Ghosts N Goblins Resurrection.
Re: Xenoblade's Pyra/Mythra Will Be Available In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Later Today
@RiasGremory Nintendo is too worried about their image for that.
Pyra and Bayo are exceptions since they're essentially promotions for their newer exclusive games.

@suikoden bad measure to go by, Dragon Quest 11 sold well and I'm willing to bet people here hated it too.
Re: Poll: Bravely Default II Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
@Ralek85 FF7R is just an action RPG with superficial RPG elements like numbers flying everywhere when you beat on enemies.
This game is something different, not everything had to play like Kingdom Hearts.

Whenever I discuss Mario games with people, its usually regarded as one of the best after the NSMB formula got stale.
