Re: Feature: Zelda: The Wind Waker Proved We Don't Always Know What We Want

im actually in the camp of liking the graphics while still disliking the game.

My problem was never the art, in fact i think the colors make the game look like a 3D SNES game which is pretty cool. I just think the sailing is a boring way to travel, the world was barren(could have used more continents), and taking away the time from sailing the game was only about half the length of Ocarina Of Time with a measly five dungeons.

I think people now are over compensating the backlash by going in the other direction of calling it a flawless 10/10 masterpiece. You could argue its a good or enjoyable game, but its far from perfect.

@Crono1973 why does it have to annoy you that not everyone owned a Wii U?

This isn't anything new, most of the Dreamcast popular exclusives were ported immediately to Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox. But by you're logic the people who got to enjoy those games for the first time on those systems should have just supported a console that was dead on arrival instead.

@Crono1973 the difference being the Switch having a much larger library of first and third party games with more on the horizon as opposed to the Wii U which was dead in the water most of the time which is why most people didnt get it and would rather wait till the better system to try the handful of mario games they missed.

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Normalise Giving Up On Games Early

Muh-ario

Pretty dumb editorial, I dont see the point in feeling pride over how much you dont play a game or how you get bored of it. Do sports fans brag to each other about how they shut off the tv halfway through watching the game?

Just play how you play, this article seems like it comes from insecurity.

Re: Feature: Best SNES RPGs

Muh-ario

still could have been better choices than lousy ports of PC games or Mystic Quest which is infamously a hated game since its more of a tutorial than a standard game.

I'd add Trials Of Mana, Secret Of Evermore, A Link To The Past, Dragon Quest 5 and 6, Breath Of Fire 1, Star Ocean, Treasure Of The Rudras, Paladins Quest 1 and 2, and Robotrek.

Re: Poll: Bravely Default II Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

@Ralek85 again I dont care for RoFs style, I prefer the style BD caters to, which hasn't been the norm since the late 90s, so it makes it more annoying when people like you complain about the one game catering to a niche when there are so many other choices instead.

And numbers do speak volumes, Dragon Quest and Pokemkn sold well despite being traditional turn based.

Re: Poll: Bravely Default II Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

Muh-ario

@Ralek85 again this is subjective, I dont mind trying new things with a genre, but to say a core gameplay mechanic(in this case turn based combat) should be something else entirely is where I have a problem. So it's best to just agree to disagree, i personally dont like the Kingdom Hearts or Xenoblade style of more active combat, which is why there are games like Dragon Quest, Bravely Default, and the upcoming Eiyuden Chronicles for my taste.

To me this argument is as tired as people who demand the Souls games have an easy mode, when the appeal of the games are the difficulty and there are already a plethora of easier action RPGs to play instead.

Re: Poll: Bravely Default II Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

Muh-ario

@Ralek85 I'm not here to convince you one is better than the other, I'm just tired of this age old argument of traditional turn based having to be mutually exclusive from active turn based or action based, especially considering the latter two styles are pretty old themselves.

JRPGs biggest strength is offering something for everyone. Calling something outdated is subjective, and as I recall Dragon Quest 11, Pokemon, and Persona still sell well because there are audiences for these games, stop trying to backwards rationalize it by assuming the games succeed in spite of their gameplay.

I personally didnt enjoy FF7Rs new game mechanics, I enjoy the originals combat a lot more, and I say that as a young guy before you pull the nostalgia card. Just accept this game isnt for you, it doesnt need to be something else.

Re: Poll: Bravely Default II Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?

Definitely, I'm sad to see people here dont share the same love for it as I do, but from my experience with the first two games, they really shine with their surprisingly hard difficulty which force you to come up with strategies via the job system.

I'm just waiting for Amazon to deliver it, so in the meantime I'll try finishing up Mario 3D World until it arrives.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Skyward Sword Is Good, Actually

Muh-ario

Pretty bad argument for it being good when you acknowledge its worst flaws of the game being linear and slow, and the only pro it has is its art style.

This is easily the weakest of the 3D Zeldas due to it relying on a tired formula and motion controls, and the fact that it launched alongside Skyrim really highlighted it at the time.
