@scamander This. It's sad how few people realize that Harvest Moon isn't Harvest Moon anymore.
@Garet_Jax If you are AWARE of the fact that this is no longer the real Harvest Moon series, why do you care? You realize the series you're so nostalgic for still exists, right? They just don't own the name Harvest Moon anymore. It's Story of Seasons.
@CrazyMetroid "I don't like it so it's a bandwagon!" No, sorry. You're on a Nintendo site full of people who love Nintendo. Go to IGN or some other sorry cesspool of entry-level gamers if you want to find people creaming their pants over boring edgy interpretations of great characters.
@LztheQuack Don't bother trying to reason with people like him.
He probably spends all day looking at generic ugly Unreal Engine 4 versions of Pokemon.
@PlywoodStick Who said the same didn't apply to both games? Stop using strawman arguments, no one said anything about FFVII, and as far as I'm concerned yes. It's just as bad as Xenogears.
"JRPG-related MMOs are big over here" I guess I may have phrased that poorly, but lets just say MMOJRPGs on consoles are FAR from an over-saturated market, unlike the generic Korean MMOs that litter the internet and PC.
That along with DQ's rising western popularity makes it pretty easy to imagine DQX having reasonable success over here.
@mookysam "I just don't see the point in localising an MMO at this stage" Well then you would do well to look at the sales for FFXIV and the sales of DQVIII and IX in the west. JRPG-related MMOs are big over here, and Dragon Quest is steadily gaining popularity, with VIII and IX selling close to a million in NA and NoA showing that they know there's rising demand for the series over here since they made such a big deal out of revealing the localizations of VII and VIII on 3DS.
And Xenogears is one of the most overrated JRPGs ever made. It's like the Evangelion of JRPGs; A whole lotta 2deep5me angsty nonsense that "90's kidz" remember with rose-tinted glasses because it was the first edgy work of fiction they experienced.
Oh boy, here we go again. Thanks for policing our art, Nintendo. What would we do without you protecting your fanbase of children and their poor, innocent little minds?
Nintendo's games have been a bit hit-or-miss this year, but the biggest issues is that it's 2015, (that's two-thousand and fifteen,) and they're still censoring localized games. That's a bigger problem than anything.
@Action51 "Is it a minor, trivial, change that will have literally no impact on the game besides a minor cosmetic one?" No. It's pretty major. All censorship is, it doesn't matter if it's cosmetic, writing-related, or feature-related. Censorship is ALWAYS wrong, and it's a BIG issue.
People like you are sickening, because you are an enabler. People like you are why censorship happens, and why it snowballs into bigger things like removing blood, changing names, changing music, or even altering the story. We don't need a second-coming of the 80's where America was so insecure and scared of other cultures and fictional characters that they had to change everything to conform to what they want their sheltered, confused kids to see or hear.
The longer you try to spout "guys, it's just a little change, it's no big deal!" the worse you're going to make things by showing these companies that they will not only get away with treating us like children, but will be REWARDED by it with support from defensive fanboys like you that can't sleep at night knowing SOMEONE out there said something bad about your precious, perfect, incapable-of-doing-any-wrong company.
@liljmoore Nintendo didn't develop the game, lad. It was developed by Monolith Soft. Then Nintendo had a company called 8-4, (who have a track record of painfully stupid censorship in their releases,) localize it, and they're (probably) the ones who decided to do this.
@Chandlero "I do not understand why Nintendo dropped the motion control support."
Probably because motion controls are super duper extra really wibbly wobbly badey wimey bad.
"C: They outright LIED to us by stating no content was being removed or altered." I guess I should've phrased it as "DESPITE" them lying to us, not that it was another reason drones will defend this.
@XCWarrior The worst part is all the mindless, shallow drones in here that will defend this because A: Nintendo can do no wrong! B: Fictional characters are CLEARLY real 13 year olds that need protected. C: They outright LIED to us by stating no content was being removed or altered.
But because some unrealistic cartoon chick was wearing a bikini America, NOA and their mindless fanboys in these comments will flip their lid and think they need to police the entire country's maturity and what they're allowed to see.
The typical, hollow defense anyone will use is "Durr you're mad about censorship? Why, do you want to see half-naked teenagers?" but in actuality this is just a stepping stone to bigger issues, like the 90's where not only were things like the Siren sprite in FF was edited, but the dialogue, names, and artwork, too.
People will defend this censorship and companies will extend their reach over what free people are allowed to see further and further. By 2020 we're going to return to the era of renaming characters like Musashi to Jack and removing blood and plots about god. Hope everyone's ready for a new Breath of Fire where the heroes have to fight an evil outer space alien named Gob, gosh darn it!
@Folderoll Don't bother. Somehow a Nintendo-centered gaming news site has attracted a bunch of edgy tweenagers who don't bother with reason or logic. The comments on this site make me sick to my stomach.
@Yorumi "and you are clearly taking this WAY to seriously." Unlike nerds getting up in arms over a friendly Japanese guy suggesting that you shake hands with your enemies at the end of the game, right? Nothing "too serious" about you edgelords, no sirree.
@ikki5 I can't think of a James Bond game that's good period.
@H_Hunter Not a very good one if you're so desperate for a pick-me-up that you'll go to a website on the internet dedicated to video games to sarcastically criticize the life of someone who's better at them than you.
@VanillaLake Please enlighten us as to what constitutes a "life" and tell us more about how you're in any place to judge the lives of others because they did something you can't do. How blessed we would be if you were to shine light on YOUR divine ideas of what the billions of human beings on this planet should be doing with their time instead of things they care about.
Seriously, the easiest way to see who doesn't have a life is to go to comments on articles like this and pinpoint the "Wow he needs to get a life" comments, because they're never made by anyone interesting at all. Only the most boring, shallow-minded individuals resort to comments like that. I hope you realize there are bros out their with IQs of sub-60 that think you guys have no life because you're on a Nintendo site instead of getting drunk with girls at bars, right?
@gcunit Some systems are easier to emulate than others. Gamecube and N64 games tend to run a lot better than PS2 and PSX games on their respective emulators.
What more people who upload levels need to learn is that there's a difference between challenging and cheap.
Putting unforeseeable traps around every corner is not challenging, it's just stupidly cheap and ruins your stage + the enjoyment of anyone playing it.
This is so damn stupid of them. Nintendo's biggest flaw of the past several years has been the way they neglect the Virtual Console, a service that has the potential to be THE greatest thing in gaming, but they just don't let it live up to it's potential. They dump a few iconic games on it and then forget about it, not even growing the Wii U's to match the VC before it.
They need to simply devote an entire team/branch to VC releases. Hopefully one that appreciates superior versions, too. It's sickening that we get the terrible GBA port of Yoshi's Island yet we can't get the Advance versions of the FF games with the vastly improved scripts and content?
@Kage_88 "I'm sorry, but what is a Platinum game supposed to look like?" I can't tell if you're being rhetorical or not, but it's pretty obvious. Their games all carry a stylish over-the-top flair that can't be found elsewhere. Bayonetta, Vanquish, Anarchy Reigns, MGR, they're all noticeably stylish and crazy compared to the average action game, something that was seen earlier in games like DMC3/4 and Godhand.
Star Fox Zero didn't look crazy. It didn't look stylish. It didn't look over-the-top. It looked like a very bland Star Fox. It looked like a beta for a Star Fox game. Like a prettied-up prototype.
Hopefully come spring we'll see this game in the fabulous Platinum Games style it deserves.
@Miss_Dark You're delusional beyond belief. Metroid is the only one of those that even remotely fits the bill. Super Mario is better than ever, this game looks great and Zelda U is still on the way, and AC only recently started shoveling out poor games, so odds are they'll still release a good one once the spin-off nonsense is done.
Thank god. The Platinum Games involvement announcement was incredibly disappointing. A real Platinum Games game is obvious from looking at it, if they did a good job they wouldn't have had to reveal it after the fact.
Freedom Planet looks so godawful. The absolute worst Sonic-pandering fanwank I've ever seen. It looks like it was made by a 15 year old with a forum handle like "BlaztedgexXthexXFoxwolfhog" or something.
@AlanJones84 "As for whether you believe me or not, that's your problem. Why would I lie about it?" I think you're trying a bit too hard to cherrypick what parts of my post you argue with.
My point was that if you had no problem with Four Swords, there is absolutely no logical reason to have a problem with this game. In fact, this game will easily blow Four Swords away completely. It's everything 4S was but better, both game series hinged on co-operative play.
"(from this preview it sounds like it's barely playable in one player mode, which as least the GC and 3DS versions of 4 Swords are)" So the dealbreaker here is that this game is actually well-designed and requires the skill of a group and valid co-operation instead of having dumbed down gameplay and puzzles that are so toddler-easy they can be completed by swapping different characters around?
You sound like those kids that play MMOs and get mad that they can't solo a raid. For someone in their early 30's you come off as incredibly petty and childish.
@electrolite77 "Who's defending Federation Force?" A group of Nintendo fanboys/white knights can be found defending it in just about any article regarding it. I laugh and die a little inside everytime some idiot compares it to Wind Waker.
"What does that have to do with this looking dreadful?" It's just ironic that Federation Force is trash that actively insults the Metroid series, yet has a small defense force, yet this game looks great for anyone with actual friends and compliments the Zelda series wonderfully by building on LBW's fantastic style, yet everyone cries and throws tantrums about it.
Nintendo is a great company but Nintendo fans are the worst.
@AlanJones84 I highly doubt you own and have 100% as many titles as you claim if this is the first one you're questioning. You had no issue with the 4 Swords games or the CDI games, but THIS is the game you don't want? Very believable.
