@SillyG This is exactly why we may never see another Eevee evolution. The more Eevee's they release the more the fandom spam ideas for the remaining elements. It makes it increasingly harder for the artist's who have to design Pokemon to actually design one that isn't close to someone's fan art.
It's also why people moaned when we got a steel dragon Pokemon and it was a skyscraper. But they have to resort to creating something so left field because there are sooooooo many Dragon Steel type fan art out there.
@stiligFox No they don't. That is specifically mentioned as being Zelda's house, he would have given it to her since his Princess needed a place to live and he probably sleeps happily under the tree outside which is a very Link thing to do. There's even a plot point in Tears of the Kingdom that Link builds himself a new house near Tarrey Town.
I swear, people see two people of the opposite sex being friendly and they ship them. It reminds me of all the people saying Loomis and Bennett from JW Rebirth are now a couple because they smiled at each other.
@9_10DOH64 Donkey Kong looks amazing, you can't play through the whole game and still thinks his design looks bad. His new design allowed the animators a greater range of freedom. I have taken so many screenshots of his various expressions they were so entertaining. You even have the Bananza DK as your avatar image. Weird hill to die on there.
The game is full of Country references, and retro references, musical or otherwise. It's a full on celebration of Donkey Kong history. Once again, another weird hill to die on.
As for the article, I do experience motion sickness sometimes, but zero with Bananza. I think playing Pokémon Violet on the big lake was the last time I felt motion sickness. I think I was shiny hunting there but the FPS was so bad I started feeling sick.
What BS, but not surprising since iFixit just wants to sell their own crud. And they also sell a lot of official Steam Deck parts, and Valve suggests buying from them. So there is major bias going on here.
The Switch 2 Pro controller is one of my all time favourite controllers. Even my friend who is a Sony fanboy and only plays his Nintendo Switch seldomly, bought a Switch 2 and official Nintendo Pro controller for the first time was shocked at how long the battery lasts and how comfortable it was. To the point where he said he missed the Pro controller when going back to the Dual Shock 5.
I went through an art degree, exhibited my own work, and held exhibits of other artists. I always found people who called games art both desperate and pretentious, and it usually comes from a high school mentality of everything is art. It's like they need some sort further validation for games rather than games just being games.
There are some games that venture towards being more art than game, they are all indie titles. But I agree with Miyamoto, most games are products and that should not be considered a bad thing. I love games for being games.
I think people are missing the point of the lobbying group.
They are specifically telling governments what they will absolutely not do, to make sure they are not forced into keeping games online at a loss to them and a risk of security for users that they will be liable for.
The fact they didn't say anything about the offline mode, says that they are open to that, that it doesn't bother them if that is something they need to consider. I don't think Nintendo even owns a game that is fully online only.
It's more to make sure the ruling doesn't go too far that it becomes a constant and eventually super expensive drain on their resources.
EDIT: Nintendo games I thought of - Dragalia Lost mobile (After they removed it, and when they went to remove Animal Crossing, they created an offline Animal Crossing obviously understanding the error of their ways, hopefully they will return Dragalia Lost with a one off purchase.)
NSO collections, I'm sure Nintendo would be fine with offering these as an offline option once they decide to end the services. So I don't think they would be bothered if they are forced to.
@DTfearTheBEARD Oh please. Nintendo has allowed you to redownload purchases on previous systems for roughly the same amount of years that Steam has existed. And considering Nintendo just did a major maintenance update for the Wii/DSi/WiiU servers last year to keep them accessible, I doubt they plan to shut them down any time in the near future.
Valve are notoriously a disorganised company, I mean Steam OS is still a glitchy mess after all these years. My brother and I laugh off all of my Steam Deck's little annoyances. I almost had enough of it though when it BSODed on me and I had to RMA it. As much as I love Steam on my actual PC, it also wouldn't surprise me if one random day Gabe is like "Welp, we're broke now" and randomly shuts the site down.
@axelhander That's not a good thing. Patents also protect the ideas of up and comers. Say if a new phone device from a new company was going to enter the market that would revolutionise the way we communicate. Without patents, as soon as their product was known, both Apple and Samsung could easily copy their work and produce the product cheaper than the new company can afford to go and bankrupt them before they hit the market.
What needs to change is the length of time a permit can be valid. They shouldn't be indefinite. If there is no evidence of the patent making significant progress in development, or it has already been released it should trigger a countdown of say 5 years until that information can be accessed and used by everyone.
I really don't get people being worried about other people duplicating Pokémon. They do not have monetary value, well shouldn't, but Game Freak making certain Pokémon very rare has created a market.
Who cares is someone exploits cloud saves to dupe Pokémon, people used to do that with link cables by yanking them out at the right time. The world didn't end.
I'm way more concerned about situations like in the article, where people LOSE important data due to Game Freak's reluctance to allow cloud saves.
@VoidofLight I know you are trying to twist the argument. But both Nintendo and Game Freak are responsible for this loss. Nintendo's transfer bugging, but also because Game Freak is being too precious with their digital monsters to allow for backups. If Pokémon saves were saved to the cloud, this would be a non-issue. So please don't wash their hands for them.
My PS5 is just my delegated 4K Blu Ray player. The launch of Elden Ring was the last time I played something on it. If it didn't play blu rays I would have sold it. Get a strong PC and partner it with a Switch and you do not need much else.
@LazyDaisy I do wonder if that's why the price is higher. Are they going to support it for a couple of years like they do with Splatoon.
Because not a single one of my top three racers made it to World. Black Shy Guy, Lemmy and Black Yoshi. They need to add alt colours!!!! Still cannot believe they added every of the ten Yoshi colours but black lol. Also I do not like how they locked the Yoshi colours to particular costumes.
I loaded up Arceus Legends and it ran really bad. So I am not sure why it is on this list, maybe because I was in the town and you tested it elsewhere? My brother even made a comment how playing it for too long would give him a headache.
EDIT: I had a thought, and loaded up the Switch 2. Arceus was on the SD Card (the officially licensed Samsung Express card.) So I moved it to internal storage and it ran smooth. So it must be an SD Card thing.
@HingryHuppo You have never OWNED a game or any media, you have always only paid for the licensing right to experience the media in private setting. You are still bound by the licensing agreement even if you bought a game on a physical disk from the 90s or 80s.
I had major battery drain. Then noticed the brightness default was up way higher than I normally would have it and put it in flight mode. Battery lasted quite a while after that.
Smart charging has been a bit of a pain, I have had multiple devices where they would refuse to charge even though there was no battery power because the software component was claiming the battery was full. This happened to my Steam Deck, and it has been a common issue with a lot of them. Some times you can fix it yourself by draining the battery and leaving devices unplugged for a couple of days (which is not ideal). But other times they need to be RMA'd because they become broken.
@GabrielBacakPS The fact that people post this when they are obviously very different art styles is telling that they don't know what they are talking about and blindly defending Pocket Pair's copy-paste attitudes to game development.
I have played games which were Pokémon inspired titles and they did have have animals that overlapped but still managed to be a different art style.
Pocket Pair were literally taking assets out Pokemon games and tweaking them to be "legally distinct" under "parody". They wanted them to look as much like Pokemon as possible, because they are leeches trying to cash in on all of Nintendo's big successes. They are no better than that Last of Us knock off company that Sony insisted Nintendo remove from the eShop.
Pocket Pair are the villains here, disguising themselves as the victims. They are lazy, thieves, and a blight on the gaming world. They should feel deep shame for all the piles of crud they have created and not having a single original thought or idea.
Considering how poorly I have been treated by staff in game chain stores like this in Australia. I really don't care and hope all the GAME, Gamestops and EB Games die off.
I only feel sorry for the few staff members that were actual decent human beings, and not gamer bros who openly mocked people for their purchases.
@AuntTassid71 Well, you technically never did own the media in your home, even with as far back as VHS. Just because a game was physical didn't mean you were free from the licence. The media on the physical device wasn't owned by you, you just bought a license to enjoy the media in a private setting on a physical device. If you tried to enjoy that product on a public scale, or make copies to share with people, you would be open to litigation against you because the media isn't yours.
Ownership implies you could do anything with the product, which we never had. And I believe creators have every right to protect their creation.
@MrGawain No it's not. The Switch was like a beefed up PS3, the Switch 2 is like a beefed up PS4. You would not be able to run Mario Kart World on OG Switch without significant downgrading like less racers and loads between race segments. It would not be the same experience.
I think people are mainly upset at the game prices. I'm Australian, I preordered the Mario Kart World bundle because AUD$70 is far more reasonable than AUD$120 for physical (haven't seen a digital pricing yet). I understand that high speed, larger sized flash cards are pricey to produce, but it's going to be the biggest hurdle for convincing people to buy a new system.
The console itself is actually reasonably priced for what it is. I think people are not used to Nintendo going more higher end. It's a little more expensive than the current cheapest Steam Deck which is also 250GB. But the Switch 2 has a 1080p screen compared to the SD 800p, and has WiFi 6 compared to SD WiFi 5. The Switch 2 also comes with a hefty dock with cooling fans, and detachable wireless gyro controllers which the Steam Deck lacks. And Gabe did confirm that they had to take losses on the cheaper end Decks to compete with the original Switch. So if Nintendo is making a profit on the Switch 2, it would be by a very slim margin.
I think the difference is, the game key being on the cart should mean you can resell it like a normal physical. Because the license is on the cart and if you don't have the cart you cannot play them game. I guess we need more info.
I think the cheaper games will be like this. I was wondering why Street Fighter 6 was cheaper than Mario Kart and Donkey Kong. It's because Nintendo will put their games in the premium carts, where third parties will not to try and sell more at a lower price.
Super sounds cooler, but if this is Nintendo now it will better in the future to go the numbered route. Otherwise you would have to keep coming up with names that sound more powerful than the last and cause brand confusion among the general audience. A numbered system is much more easier to understand over generations.
Count me among the people that could care less. Light and Dark mode is all I need. I would rather snappy UI than one bogged down with customised media loading.
Peaches was an unexpected surprise. Nice, simple, short and sweet.
This reeks of a publicity stunt to increase interest after a lukewarm response to the initial trailer. And the song itself is a bit much and messy. It lacks the simple charm of Peaches.
@Princess_Lilly Pocket Pair also did a BotW "inspired" game, where they also stole animation and model assets from BotW and tweaked them. Much in the same way that they stole models from Pokemon games for Pal World, and tweaked them enough to make them "legally distinct". Even though it is SUPER obvious that they ripped a model from the game and just messed with the frame a bit.
Frankly they are some of the laziest devs that have raked in a lot of undeserved money.
If TPC was doing this to Cassette Beasts, I would be fighting for the Bytten Studio. But I mean, Nintendo embraced Cassette Beasts and had it as a free NSO trial, because it was inspired by Pokemon but was creatively it's own thing. But not Pocket Pair's Pal World, they are creatively bankrupt and are lazy slimy scum, and I will find so much enjoyment in watching their demise.
From what I can see it has only been two days. I don't think they should be getting this upset so soon. It looks unprofessional and it could burn a bridge with Nintendo. I mean, it's a freakin' Backrooms game LMAO, it's not even original content to begin with.

Ah yes, punish your employees for upper management making them churn out yearly releases of the same game, forcing microtransactions on everything, and telling gamers that they should get used to not owning their games.
Here's hoping those talented developers band up and create an indie darling game. Free to be creative and away from needing to work on Tom Clancy's Assassin's Cry 1000.
