I was hoping this would be a spring release. When it wasn't even mentioned in the mini-Direct I got the suspicion we were looking at a summer release in time to have it at E3. I'm looking forward to it because I know it will be a good fun game to play with my wife, but I do hope and trust Nintendo will have a better game to headline their E3 this year. Don't want to lose any momentum after a great first year of the Switch.
I'm loving my SNES Classic but I'm not ready to experiment with hacking it just yet. Maybe once I get through everything and am looking to find a reason to freshen it up a little. I imagine by then things may even improve by then.
But I feel like Nintendo missed an opportunity with the NES and SNES Classic to not have a feature that allows you to download additional games through an eshop and virtual console service. Having the ability to link up these consoles to your Nintendo account and download your purchased VC titles on each system (NES titles on NES Classic, SNES titles on SNES Classic, N64 titles on N64 Classic etc.) would have solved that problem in a way I would be happy to support.
If they're not going to release a full VC for the Switch, this would have been a great alternative. Maybe in an updated version of the Classic systems? One can dream.
If only Nintendo had announced a Switch Virtual Console with access to all of these great sale items today, they would have made a boat load of money off me. Super Mario Galaxy for $9.99 and I can play it on the train? I would have been sold.
I have my Switch hooked up in our living room on the big TV, but I also want to stream some Switch game son Twitch too. Having an extra dock at my computer attached to my streaming setup would be convenient, but it is not something I'm rushing to pay that much for at this time when I can just move the dock itself and plug it into a dedicated HDMI cable and power adapter at my computer. So I'd be more interested now in adding an extra power adapter instead.
My first reaction to no second screen (or touch screen) is "Well, so much for Super Mario Maker, but there is just so much unknown about this system still so there is no reason to get up in arms about it yet. Super Mario Maker was a big hit for Nintendo and I can't see them looking at that and saying "Nah, we aren't going to do that again." Maybe they will have a way to connect our WiiU GamePads for certain games. Maybe they'll come out with a touch pad accessory just for something like Mario Maker. I mean, they made a mouse for the SNES for Mario Paint. I have faith Nintendo has plans we are just unaware of, because Super Mario Maker was too good for them to give up on the Switch.
I downloaded it at launch time and had a little fun with it the first couple of days, but now I just log in once every few days when I happen to think about it to collect my daily bonus. I really don't care about answering questions like we are back in the old Wii "Everybody Votes" channel, nor do I care to read the answers of the two or three friends I have on it. Now, find a way to integrate this service into Nintendo's franchises on the console and handheld systems, and maybe we'll talk. Use it to store and share your created Mii, maybe there's something to it. Maybe this is the first step of a larger blueprint that will be connected to the NX down the line. That's really the only reason I'm keeping it. I'll hold out hope.
All I want for Super Mario Maker now is a Super Mario Bros. 2 tile set with the ability to have levels go straight up and down. Is this too much to ask?
@Aurumonado I would guess the big difference here is the game will not come with the book and possibly the soundtrack CD that came with the original released version on Wii?
Hey guys, looking good! Looking forward to getting my user profile updated and start rating my own game library! Will this mean NL reviews of games or profiles will show a NL game rating and a community rating? Because that would be pretty cool.
Super Mario Bros. 3 is still one of my favorite games of all time and I already have the original NES game on my virtual console, but I can't pass up the opportunity to check out these exclusive e-Reader card levels I never played. I'll be downloading SMB Advance 4 for sure.
I actually just placed my preorder on Amazon for this. I enjoyed it back on the GameCube when I played through it (I didn't own a Wii just yet), so I'm looking forward to going through the updated version when I get it.
OK, yes, this is a clearly a fake. Why people spend time trying to fool so many people is beyond me, but let me just say I would love a pro controller style that includes the reader for amiibo functionality in it. That's actually a pretty cool idea.
I actually really enjoyed what WayForward managed to do with A Boy And His Blob. I think it is a fine game for the Wii if anyone is looking for something they may have missed. Having enjoyed the original NES title, the Wii version stayed true to the principles of the original very well. I hope they make this game available at a discount so others can give it a try.
I have thoroughly enjoyed a number of games in the LEGO franchise, but I'm playing through The LEGO Movie game right now it is rather "Meh," to me. I hope they put more effort into this next round of franchise games, and I suspect Marvel/Disney will be stricter wiht the quality control before it gets released.
LEGO Jurassic World might be interesting, but when will we finally get a LEGO T.M.N.T. game? I feel like that one could be a lot of fun to work with.
Yes, it can come off as insensitive today, but keeping in mind when this game was published I think it speaks more to the evolution of how we treat issues like this. In some ways, this can be shown as a positive of how much we as a people have grown. As you guys say, there is no way TheBig "N" would approve of this today, and that is pretty significant.
For $10, I suppose I'll finally give Metroid a look. I never played a Metroid game, not because I don't like them, just because I never really had the opportunity. For $10 for that title though, it is hard to pas sup.
@Quorthon I'm with you on that. Sure, this is a nice step in the right direction and it is a great way to allow some to experience these games for the first time, but I would have liked a more streamlined approach to being able to play my Wii game. Let me insert the Wii disc in the WiiU, then have a way for the system to know it is a Wii game and have a good way for me to enjoy the game without the extra steps on my end.
I'd also love if there was an option to allow me to install any Wii games coming to the eShop onto my WiiU if I already own the disc. I realize that is not likely to happen due to piracy concerns, but I feel that would be pretty nice for Wii/WiiU owners. (You can do this the illegal way, of course)
@TourianTourist They already did Zelda, but Metroid would be cool. Good way to pay homage to the three biggest Nintendo franchises. I wouldn't be upset with a Donkey Kong version though. I suspect the next one (there will be a next one I'm guessing) would be Toad or Wario. Bowser would look awesome. Dark green with orange buttons and a red directional pad?
I think I may prefer just being able to download the games I want through the virtual console. I'm not much of a collector so having one on the shelf is not a huge deal for me. However, if they wanted to go Super Mario All-Stars on us and include some enhanced versions of the original and earlier titles in the series and put that on a disc, they may have my attention. Or do what the Sonic compilation did on the GameCube and have some nice extras or non-Mega Man games mixed in as easter eggs...
