Re: US Retailers Are Playing With Fire With More Switch 2 Cancellations

Lostdragon

Got one for my brother from Amazon and one for myself from Nintendo directly because I won the hunger games and did fullfil all requirements. At the high point I could have preordered up to 4 Switch 2 from for different retailers and they would have been all guaranteed to ship. Guess this must be that famous european freeloader mentality the US did label us with recently.

Re: Review: The Thing: Remastered (Switch) - A Great Remaster Of A Half-Great Game

Lostdragon

I loved it back back then but playing this now, the horror feels clumsy and sad. Nightdive did another fantastic remaster though! ❤️
The THING (heh) your review didn't bring up (an how could it) is, that this game is also very germany 2002. Which means that on one hand, the game has a german dub with one famous voice, in this case Manfred Lehmann, the german voice of Bruce Willis, making your protagonist Blake very Yippee Kay yay, while all the other voices sound like random strangers on the street who had to record their lines at gunpoint and didn't even know what a voiceover was before that point. On the other hand, the game was heavily censored, removing all the corpses and blood from the levels which means your comrades were freaking out over nothing, staring at regular walls in both gameplay and cutscenes. So kudos to Nightdive for bringing the german dub together with the uncensored version but as with the Turok games from that era, I wish they would include a german version censor option for authenticity and to give you guys n gals a glimpse of what we had to endure back then.

Re: Feature: "It Is Both Exciting And A Bit Terrifying" - Nightdive Studios On Reviving 'The Thing'

Lostdragon

I remember buying it when I had some vacation in the UK because the german version was heavily censored (which was the style at the time...honestly I would love to see a "german" mode in all those old games which brings back the censorship just so that everyone could enjoy how bad that was with some games)

I bet one of the main gameplay improvements is the way your teammates could get infected and taken over because even back then this feature felt as cool as it felt lacking since you had to use test kits to see who is infected but more than often those tests came out negative and then the teammate mutated right around the next corner making it feel a bit undercooked.

Re: Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion Remastered Receives A New Update

Lostdragon

I hoped for a more discounted sale since this feels more like a 20€ price tag game but the current discount...well...it is something. I saw only a friend play it back in the day (and we did some multiplayer). It's a competent and fun N64 shooter but dear lord does it try to be Half Life sooooo bad you can almost see it's neck veins bulge as it stretches out for that vibe.

Re: The Tetris Movie Falls Onto Apple TV+ In March, Check Out The First Trailer

Lostdragon

Sorry but this looks like it could be any Biopic and then added the Tetris game into. Might be a better than then enduring what Adam Sandler and Kevin James believe are Video game jokes but then getting your gonads nailed to your forehead would be too, so the bar is pretty low.
Guess I have to be stuck with Police Academy 7 Mission to Moscow for a substitute Tetris movie.

Not saying that it might suck but the trailer looks bland. Also kudos to the selected people that have AppleTV+ and can actually watch it

Re: Sega Announces Space Channel 5 And Comix Zone Movies

Lostdragon

Might be the old man yelling at a cloud here but...

First:
A Space Channel Movie without Space Michael?
Can they please cast Tom Jones as President Peace, though ❤️

Second:
"a young, queer writer of color"
Did I miss that part in the game?
I am bisexual myself but at this point it is just insulting how absolutely everything needs to have thrown the diversity stick into it because it better be there...like how god forbid your game doesn't have any crafting these days....
I think this token diversity character that has to be thrown in is doing more damage to minorities it tries to represent than actually helping making them more comfortable or more visible. Since being "the gay" is always their whole character trait. Those characters are always gays who somehow happen to be people and not people who somehow happen to be gay. And I love how it is shoved directly into your face by making it this character's explicit character trait in the announcement and at the same time is shoved aside by not "bothering" the main character with it. They create someone else as gay so one random hero from a 30 year old game doesn't have to be. There is nothing in the game about his sexuality so if you want to make it diverse then why not go the full road and give him this trait without announcing it? How is this not insulting to gay people? And it is always the same. It is always saying "we want to acknowledge you but could you step abit aside though, we really don't want to get too uncomfortable for the rest of our audience."
It is like dressing up your logo in some fancy colors for a month while making big bucks with countries that throw you off a cliff if you kiss another man....
Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy diversity in characters but please please please please stop making it their whole character.

Other than that, I could see Comix Zone being a good fit for a movie ^^

Re: Shredder's Revenge Meets Murder Mystery In 'BROK The InvestiGator', Coming To Switch Winter

Lostdragon

There is a free Demo on Steam which is 1+ hours long if you want to check out.
You can also play it on your Steam Deck which absolutely isn't the way I just experienced the Demo because I would never betray my Switch coughs

It is a rather enjoyable adventure that is absolutely made with gamepad control in mind (switching trough hotspots with the controller, direct control of your character, right stick as mouse cursor,...) and as you have might guessed from the trailer....is superfurry with a hint of cringe.

Re: Logitech And Tencent Games Are Working On A Cloud-Based Handheld Console

Lostdragon

I bet my left nut it has also some NFT based mechanics because they are totally the next great thing and gamers will love this, bro!
What an extremly dumb idea. Cloud based gaming at home is absolute garbage already and does not work...look at Stadia and look at my internet connection. What makes them think not playing your games on the go in any respectable quality would be even better?

Re: Sega Confirms Sonic Frontiers Won't Be Delayed, Says Fans "Don't Understand" It

Lostdragon

@Guitar_bard
Thank you for your reply. I think entitled is a very good word to describe what we are these days (maybe always has been?) but developers shouldn't just brush opinions of like "oh you just don't get it" either. After all, it is our hard earned cash they want to harvest. Of course, there is the other extreme, where ppl send out death threats because some fictional dude can now kiss another fictional dude...I don't get how people can get that kind of mad about stuff and still think that they have every right to be the worst possible person.
So it is a fine dance between a justified personal opinion and just going ape ***** on social media.
And Sonic has it extra hard since he is an icon. There are plenty of middle of the road games where you can feel the developers had their heart on the right place but couldn't put something together that is "good" and yet nobody goes beserk and just enjoys what is there instead. But I guess poor Sonic is too iconic for that.
Same with Diablo Immoral. If it wasn't for Deckard Cain and friends. it would just be the next shameless moneygrubbing MTX fest because most of those mobile games are and we all would move on quickly.
My take on the New Sonic is that it just looks kinda soulless. Like someone bought some asset landscapes and enemys and threw a Sonic 3D model in it. This world shown in the Demo video on ign looks so drab and lifeless. I think Sonic is best when he is fast and the colors pop. Here he is thrown in the world of Death Stranding. And if this slice of gameplay really is just a first build and we don't get it, then they might be better off showing something else.
Yeah being entitled is childish but brushing of critics with "you don't get it" and the target audience true fans do so you clearly were never a friend of Sonic anyways doesn't fare much better .

Re: Sega Confirms Sonic Frontiers Won't Be Delayed, Says Fans "Don't Understand" It

Lostdragon

@Guitar_bard
I think that back then, a lot of standards weren't established yet and there wasn't really a sence of what works and what would not. I remember having all those rentals in the SNES days and play them and get excited about them because they were new games or how me and my brothers begging our parents until they would buy us Primal Rage because dinosaurs fighting. None of us thought this would be a mediocre port of a mediocre fighting game.
But things have changed and Sonic never got his foot quite right in a 3D enviroment while a standard for this was pretty much established on day 1 with Mario 64.
I rather would think we just didn't know any better back then and also couldn't articulate our opinion beyond the school yard anyway.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Raises The Question - How Much Do Janky Graphics Matter?

Lostdragon

I think they are somewhere between okay and janky but maybe I am just used to it with all this absolutely bad Unity Engine Game ports. I mean, you haven't seen janky rough popped up blurry stuttering low detail overworlds on Switch until you experience such things as Grow: Song of the Evertree or Little Dragon's Cafe.

So...ummm...it could be worse...and that's something

And for all this horrible Unity game ports... there is Ori and so we shouldn't live in a world where a cold shiver runs down your spine once this engine logo pops up at the start screen, dear developers.

Re: Review: Hexagroove: Tactical DJ - The Thinking Man’s Rhythm Action Experience

Lostdragon

Yeah pricing realy is an issue with this one. Bought it yesterday and even with the discount, 30 € are 10 € too many.
And asking the original price of 35 € is downright outrageous in my opinion.
It is great fun but way to overpriced. Also be warned if you want this to be an Amplitude for Switch because you saw the pictures. Like the review states, those gameplay segments are just short snippets. This is more of a ressource management sim.
