Re: Ys X: Nordics Will Launch On Switch In The West In Fall 2024

Kr96

@burninmylight You played the worst version of those games, Ys I & II Chronicles+ on Steam is the definitive way to experience them, ultimately they're still dated titles so it's understandable if you want to skip them entirely. And yes, it's the same Adol in all games though the chronological order can get very confusing.

Re: Talking Point: Is Knowing A Game's Ending Really That Bad?

Kr96

Generally no, got into FF VI and VII and Persona 3 and 4 already knowing the major story beats and didn't affect my enjoyment of them, as an RPG fan it's near impossible going in blind with older games. Then again, played Nier Automata knowing the bare minimum so the plot twists and endings hit harder. So it really depends on the game, couldn't care less about Pokémon or Mario spoilers since they don't have a lot of story to begin with.

Re: Chris Pratt Has Seen The Super Mario Movie Teaser, Says He's "Blown Away"

Kr96

Why people are so obsessed with the idea that this movie sucks when we haven't seen literally anything about it? Regardless of the studio's reputation it's precisely because of the live action fiasco that Nintendo is being heavily involved this time, which is more of what we can say about the average videogame adaptation

Re: Persona 5 Royal Switch Special Edition Will Take Your Heart, Pre-Orders Open

Kr96

@Jhena The one releasing on switch is Portable from PSP, due to limitations of that system exploration is entirely done in visual novel style, no anime cutscenes and no The Answer either but features an entirely controlable party and a female protagonist with exclusive social links and romance options. Overall it's a trade off and might not be worth it full price since you already played FES, if you're okay with the changes the female protagonist gives the story and interactions a rather different but interesting atmosphere.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Release Date Announced, Just Not For The Switch

Kr96

@anextphilosophy Ironically the fact it doesn't have a release date means it's still being worked on while a cloud version could perfectly release on the same date as on other consoles, I don't remember any instance where a cloud game wasn't revealed as such from the begining. Also it's important to note that this is a crossgen release (despite marketing making it seem like a ps5 exclusive) making the switch port more feasable with the respective compromises. This is such a huge title I don't see warner only selling codes in boxes, it's more likely the cartridge needing a partial download but hopefully not

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Release Date Announced, Just Not For The Switch

Kr96

"So, the release date for Switch is up in the air for now, and it almost begs the question: will Hogwarts Legacy for the Switch be
a Cloud Version? Hmm... Food for thought."

While I understand it's a valid concern you guys, of all people, should know the physical version has been up for preorder on sites like amazon or gamestop for some time now, cloud versions for obvious reasons don't get listed at retailers. Wouldn't be surprised if the switch version gets delayed till summer 2023 and by that time I might as well just play it on pc.

Re: Review: Shin Megami Tensei V - The Best Entry Yet In This Dark, Engrossing RPG Series

Kr96

@Warioware Atlus' current output doesn't even come close to what they used to release back in the PS2/DS era, it's not really a lack of interest on Switch but rather they got caught up well into the HD era without any expertise as they kept developing for the more underpowered systems. Hence why Catherine released so late into the PS3/X360 days, P5 is a PS3 game (using the Catherine engine) with the PS4 version being a port, P5 Strikers was developed by Koei Tecmo even and SMTV is literally their first title made with UE4

Re: Soapbox: 'I'll Play It On Game Pass' Is Becoming Common, But Does That Affect Switch eShop?

Kr96

Gamepass is good to give exposure to lesser known IPs like Yakuza that otherwise people wouldn't pay full price for. If it has any impact on Switch sales I think that could only be true if the user has both consoles, which apparently is way less common than people that own both Sony and Nintendo systems. Then again Xbox has very little going for it that opting for a pc is a much better investment. Long story short, Gamepass is where publishers go for the mass exposure but not for the sales and are fine with it as long as they can make bank on the other two consoles plus pc

Re: Super Seducer 1 & 2 Refused By Nintendo Due To "Explicit Content"

Kr96

@Facelord Do you realize consoles are closed platforms, meaning manufacturers always have the final saying on what titles they allow in them? If the dev isn't satisfied with it he can just self publish on pc where he doesn't need to be subjected to a rating system or content guidelines but it is very telling not even the much more lenient steam, gog or epic wanted the games either. That says more about the quality of the titles than the platforms themselves.

Re: Super Seducer 1 & 2 Refused By Nintendo Due To "Explicit Content"

Kr96

@Clyde_Radcliffe It shouldn't need to be said but there's a pretty clear diference between depicting sexualized fictional women vs depicting sexualized real women. The latter always comes with all kinds of legal nitpicks, like making sure your cast members are of legal age, they consented to star in the game, how much and how risky scenes would be without making it outright porn, etc. Thus it's unsurprising console makers wouldn't want anything to do with risque FMV games like this

Re: Super Seducer 1 & 2 Refused By Nintendo Due To "Explicit Content"

Kr96

People defending these "games" are hilarious, have you even watched how the "gameplay" is? They're pretty stupid cashgrabs that only the most desperate loners with zero social skills would buy. If not even pc platforms, who tend to be much more lenient on all fronts, cared to accept these the guy shouldn't have even considered putting them on actual consoles. Also aren't you always trashing nintendo for allowing all kinds of shovelware into the eshop?

Re: Talking Point: The Problem With The X Button

Kr96

@Beatrice That and the asymmetrical position of the d-pad and face buttons on Switch compared to PS really messed me up at first. Good thing the game offers great customization, once I switched to arrow icons it became way easier

Re: Atlus Wants To Know What Games You Want Ported To Switch

Kr96

@Judal27 Historically japanese aren't trilled with ports and remasters, P5R sold below expectations there and it was only when it released in the west that Atlus reported strong sales. SMTIII isn't even exclusive so that's not the problem, it sold decent but if you look at reviews the players were displeased with the shoddy audiovisual quaility, bugs that have yet to be fixed and so on

Re: Atlus Wants To Know What Games You Want Ported To Switch

Kr96

@Ghostchip You do realize SMTIII sold pretty good in Japan (considering it's a remaster) and did the best numbers on Switch (despite the numerous bugs both versions had at launch)? I don't undestand this false narrative that Atlus games don't sell on the platform when they've barely supported it with two ports (three if you want to count TMS, I don't) and a new title that sold decently considering it was a sequel of sorts as a reason why P5R isn't getting a port

Re: Atlus Wants To Know What Games You Want Ported To Switch

Kr96

@nessisonett While P5 fans who have never played anything else in that franchise (or even 5 itself and only care about the MC because of Smash) are beyond annoying I do want a port simply because it's my preferred way to play rpgs. Wouldn't have finished all past Personas and SMTs if they weren't on PS Vita/3DS and it's why I've yet to try Royal, Atlus could very well release it after SMTV to not take away its spotlight.

Re: Atlus Wants To Know What Games You Want Ported To Switch

Kr96

There's so much Atlus could port they shouldn't even ask, Raidou Kuzunoha, Digital Devil Saga, Trauma Center, Devil Survivor, all Personas (especially the first three that are still trapped on PSP/PS Vita), Odin Sphere, Dragon's Crown, 13 Sentinels, etc. Everything from Super Famicom, PS1, Saturn, GBC or GBA would need actual localizations or being completely remade which is so out of the question for Atlus

Re: Kingdom Hearts: Melody Of Memory Brings An Exclusive Mode To Switch This November

Kr96

@OmegaDestroyer Atlus is well aware of that, the spin offs tend to have very little connection to the main games, like they just give the most basic plot points you need to know but in no way require you to have played the mainline ones. It's very obvious they bank on the people who might feel attracted to the series but aren't into turn based gameplay

Re: Sega Says It Wants To Re-Release More Past Titles On Nintendo Switch

Kr96

It's time Sega acknowledges other games like Jet Set Radio and its sequel that is still trapped on the original Xbox, Nights into Dreams, Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Samba de Amigo, Virtua Fighter, Space Channel 5, Panzer Dragoon, Sonic CD, Ristar, Phantasy Star II to IV, etc. Sega has such a strong catalogue of classics it's frustrating they always rerelease the same Master System/Genesis titles.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Final Fantasy Game On Nintendo Consoles?

Kr96

I have a sweet spot for X as it was the first one I beat after starting I to VII (sans II and V) but never really going much far, time later I went back and beat all of those as well and from the classic era IV and VI are my favorites, the gorgeous pixel art and soundtrack are very captivating.

Going into the modern ones VII aged awfully but hooked me enough to play the spin offs and watch the movie, I've yet to play VIII and IX but got both on PS Vita, XII is on my Switch wishlist. Haven't tried XIII and with how port happy Square Enix is I'm surprised they have yet to bring the trilogy to current consoles.

Now for the spin offs I loved Theatrhythm, it's so addictive that I clocked more than 100 hours between both releases and still play Curtain Call from time to time. Got World of Final Fantasy during the holiday sale this year, quite a solid classic gameplay with a decent lenght although it felt too easy and the story dragged by the end of the game. Crisis Core and Dissidia aren't on Nintendo consoles but both are very good, the former is pure wack plotwise but Zack is charismatic and the combat system while not spectacular is solid enough, the latter is undoubtedly the best iteration of the FF fighting games

Re: Another Sonic The Hedgehog Double Pack Appears To Be Coming To Switch

Kr96

Friendly reminder Sonic Mania Plus is the only version that received a physical release, why would Sega go back and press cartridges for the original version? This is essentially a budget pack made with remaining stock at 40 dollars, I really doubt Sega is making new copies but even if that's the case both games easily fit on the 8 gb cartridge, no need to throw codes in the box
