Didn't read all 200 comments here, but between this page and Reddit, seems like I'm in the super minority of those who actually like intermission courses. I've been racing 3 lap course for 30 years, I'd like a fresh approach now.
Also, to the people complaining their practice on 3 lap courses is now wasted; do you realize Mario Kart was always a party game with heavy RNG first and actual competition tenth? Mario Kart online, any of the games, is not where you should be going if you want to be competitive, lol.
@TheDragonDAFan Good. I know a lot of people seem to hate them, but not me. The game officially has 32 courses, but between intermissions, mirror mode and reverse directions, it's a lot more. I'd get pretty tired pretty quickly of playing just the same 32 official tracks.
Loving Fast Fusion, easily the best game in the series. Considering the price, I don't know how anyone could complain it's short on content, especially when the difficulty ramps up quickly. The real content after seeing all the tracks is skill.
Where's the poll option for people who have only played docked so far and plan to have very little use in handheld mode? It's not "I don't really care either way" because I would if handheld was a big part of my playing time or it somehow affects gameplay.
Okay? Developers very likely get paid a more than solid living wage already. Why should I care about the perks of the job that don't affect me in the slightest other than reminding me that I don't get these perks for doing well at what I do?
Thanks for the review, been passively looking for one since Nintendo's official is too much at $40. Ordered the big one, hoping to fit either the Pro controller or dock in there, measurements may work out. They claim 7-14 days.
@johnedwin What? I mean, you're right, but that doesn't apply here. SE gave the excuse that they wanted to preserve the original's feel, yet they are advertising two ways to play; classic (which preserves the original's feel) and revamped (or whatever word they're using). There is zero reason for them to not include the added content in the revamped mode.
Reading between the lines, SE probably has a budget that they refused to adjust and not adding this is their way of not going over. Still idiotic and ironically ignorant of potential lost sales. It also gives them a reason to say, yet again, a game "did not meet their sales expectations"
@Burning_Spear The dialogue is like nails on a chalkboard. Not including a sound option to turn off voices only was a baffling choice (PPT1, no idea about the other titles).
Bought PPT1 on Switch ages ago, have zero desire to buy 2 or 2S. Maybe if they stop drip-feeding new content and make a legitimate sequel like how most Tetris-only titles do it, I'd feel compelled to consider buying.
DK was plenty expressive before! Loved the DKC design and wish it was still around. This new design looks like it's from a Saturday morning cartoon and marketed towards 8 year olds, whereas old DK appealed to everyone.
This is like saying Samus needs to be more expressive. Dread is proof that subtlety is just as expressive as clear, outgoing emotions.
"To break it down simply, Sushi makes a sound every 16 seconds or so, according to Emanuar. This sound is repeated so frequently by the character that you never hear it in full."
@PJOReilly it's every 16 frames, not seconds. The guy even says so in the video at 10:18.
@TimelessJubilee This. Although, I think NL has slowly improved over the last two or so years. I do still go back and forth with my ad blocker here, though. It used to be when the articles were absolute trash (clickbait) or flat out wrong (and were seemingly never corrected), but the last time I turned it on was when ads became pretty intrusive.
I just turned it off after reading this. Like I said, I go back and forth.
99% sure you could destroy the computer terminals in stage 1 for some points in the original. I don't see that fixed here.
@Spider-Kev lol, the original had PLENTY of bugs that were never fixed. Difference is those bugs created the charm of the game. EDIT: Also, just because a game seems polished on one system doesn't mean a port/remaster on a new system wouldn't have new bugs. It's new code, so thus, new bugs got created.
@F-ZeroX I went out of my way to not use free aim and to try to play like it really was just a normal Star Fox. Maybe that's why I don't remember having issues.
@FartMuncher27 Obscene humor has to make sense, that's the difference here. I love Borderlands as much as the next guy, but there's a time and place for that humor and the presentation has to be good, it had to make sense. No one knows who these people are, but they introduce themselves as if we all know what to expect from them.
@FoxyDude Teaser trailer, it's a thing devs release early in development simply to announce that the project exists and to gauge early public perception of the idea behind the project.
@Spider-Kev Yeah, we're complete opposites here, lol. Zero had its flaws, but everything was manageable. Motion controls, keep the gamepad still, you don't have to use them to play. Button mapping was questionable, but not unplayable. Dual screen gameplay, I'm 99% certain you could just press Select to switch screens instead of moving your head. I went well out of my way to play the game as close to old school Star Fox as possible and ended up having Zero be my #1 Wii U game next to Smash.
That trailer was... not good. I don't even care they didn't show gameplay because I understand teaser announcement trailers exist, but talk about being classless. Seems like they're trying to copy Borderlands dialogue, but that is not a good first impression at all.
@Spider-Kev Eh, Starlink is an original IP with Star Fox tacked on for appeal, much like Dinosaur Planet before it was known as Star Fox Adventures. Neither is considered a good Star Fox game, even if they might be decent games in their respective genres.
I also couldn't jive with Starlink because of the unintuitive controls that can't be changed to something normal. Might have been a fun game otherwise.
@Bunkerneath Teaser trailers are designed to create talk and spread very early hype. Gameplay trailers generally release much, much closer to product release.
@Ryu_Niiyama It's effectively a demo in terms of content with all the limitations and the aesthetics that make Balatro so great are not here. Advertising this is also directly advertising the actual full game. I would not be surprised if LocalThunk appreciates the passion put into this as well.
I have the original mClassic from several years ago. The larger the screen, the more easily you can notice the improvements. They ARE subtle, there's no doubt about that and I'm sure some people wouldn't even see any difference (I know some folks who's eyesight is bad enough to not see the difference between natural 720p and higher resolutions). So $100 is still steep, but depending on the size of your TV and what kind of TV, you may or may not be throwing money away.
Came here for the Atari Lynx comments. I had one and it was fun when I could hook up the AC adaptor and didn't need to use the batteries that lasted five minutes, lol
This doesn't make sense to me because I could never get my US Paypal or card to work with either the JPN or EU eShops. Have always had to buy gift cards (from Play Asia), then add directly to my Nintendo account.
@Gryffin Yep. Comes in both English and Russian too. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will say there is something wrong with the recreation, but to my knowledge, it's as close to the original as you can get.
@Gryffin Electronika 60 was an unexpected gem. No music, no sound except for faint beeps, black and green terminal used for graphics, no line scoring. On paper, it sounds awful, but it's so relaxing and easy to focus on. The change in scoring also changes the meta of the game which I love.
I'm happy so far with these updates. Welltris is an objectively bad game, but really nice to see for history's sake. Also, very glad they fixed the leaderboard in Electronika 60 so it properly displays the entire score and not just the first three digits.
@Sylamp @Clyde_Radcliffe Look at the devs and publishers of the titles included in Forever; it's pretty much all BPS (Pajitnov's/The Tetris Company's own company). It sucks that some legendary titles are missing, but when you look at how the game was put together, it makes sense why third parties were not really involved in the inclusion of games. Same thing with any Nintendo-/Sony-published titles, especially Nintendo; do people really think that games exclusive to Nintendo systems and published by Nintendo will be allowed to go multiplat? Look at the original publishers, then ask questions; not the other way around.
I'm not saying it's right or that it was a good direction, but I imagine Digital Eclipse had a budget they needed to stick to.
@Diowine Considering the large number of leaks that were proven to be real after the official Nintendo reveal, it stands to reason the Hall Effect sticks leak is also real, which would mean stick drift will be a non-issue.
Regarding release date: Genki is releasing their accessories in April. It would make sense that Switch 2 is therefore also releasing in April.
About the joycon connectors: they appear to be flush with the system. I think even with kids rough-housing, you'd have to be pretty unlucky to break it. Considering Nintendo went through the trouble of fixing the faulty pin setup with current joycon, I doubt they'd go ahead with a different flaw that would see mass repair tickets being sent out.
@EarthboundBenjy As much as I'd love to see the games you listed, I really doubt Digital Eclipse would want to alienate everyone who bought the game on other platforms by offering exclusive Nintendo titles (since we all know Nintendo would never let their games on other platforms).
Oh, this is a nice surprise! I knew the remapping was coming as I saw Steam got it a while ago, had no idea about Welltris. Hopefully, they are also working on adding bots/online to Time Warp and expanding the eras, as well.
@WhiteTrashGuy I have hope that one day, Rogue Leaders (official name for the cancelled trilogy game) will get leaked. As it is, Dolphin's compatibility with Rogue Leader (the second game) still needs work, unless I'm missing something. It always crashes during Battle of Hoth. I haven't tried Rebel Strike on Dolphin yet.
@miwa Ugh, this is going to make me feel bad about buying it, if I do. Thanks for the game's history lesson. I want to support great gameplay in shmups to keep the genre going, but just like games that go heavy in loli anime, I want nothing to do with this game. :/
Good, stay in Japan. Maybe this dev can learn to focus on gameplay instead of trying to profit off being yet another amateur, boring-looking Touhou clone.
@Danrenfroe2016 I doubt 90 minutes of Youtube videos would yield the same financial return. As for the older games, that is very subjective. Tetris 99 effectively only has one mode, Effect has a ton, but it's been out for six years. Axis on 3DS has Bombliss just like Forever, but every Bombliss version I've played in Forever has been better than Axis's.
