@Lizuka wait lol. Out of curiosity. How on earth did you decide to skip gen 3 of all gens?! That is probably the greatest generation. 5 mainline titles and 2 GameCube spinoffs. There was just so much quality content.
I love that they're using magnets. Those sliders were absolutely garbage. Both switches I have are impossible to use in handheld mode because the joycons detach from the broken rails with any pressure, throwing errors.
Not trying to gatekeep here, honestly. But Vibecheckup, ItsReallyTimmyB, Chilln have beat Kaizo several times on different versions in the past few years.
Isn't it a bit odd that it has to be a mainstreamer that gets the recognition for something that has been accomplished many times over already?
Only if David Wise returns as the composer. DKC 1 and 2's music is perfect (never played the others, although I will be playing Tropical Freeze Christmas time).
@Hee-ho-master yeah I still just build and explore caves. My 6 year old runs circles around me with these other science experiments with Redstone and droppers and whatnot.
Shiren the Wanderer 6: Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. 1000%.
Didn't even know there were other Mystery Dungeon games outside of Pokemon until I saw an ad for this game earlier this year. It appears to really be slept on outside of Japan. I haven't had this much fun with an RPG in a very long time.
Ubisoft is literally selling their soul to the devil if Tencent buys them. Not much of a loss either way. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory was one of the best games ever made, and the last game I've had interest in from them.
Nothing here this week. My backlog is so bad. Even if i wanted to buy from the eShop, I pretty much bought everything I need until Switch 2 at this point since everything was $30.
Just this past week I bought Pikmin 4, Super Mario 3D Worlds, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX.
Been swimming with the dolphin on my new phone so that definitely does not help with the backlog.
It's cool that all the classic Roller Coaster Tycoon games are on the Switch. I bought the 3rd one a while back. Had that on XP as a kid along with the first one, Mall Tycoon, and Zoo Tycoon.
Might pickup Dragon Quest III if the price drops. Currently playing XI. A little overwhelming, mainly when you grab a bunch of items and I have no clue on their use, but overall enjoying it.
I really like the option for 2D mode. Although I wouldn’t use it, I sure wish Game Freak would apply something like that to new Pokemon games, or branch off to doing 2D-HD remakes/originals like Sonic Mania. That is, unless Square Enix has a patent on this. 2D-HD stuff.
3.Sonic x Shadow Generations
2. Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
1. Shiren the Wanderer: Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. (Too bad that isn't on here, I'd make 10000 burner accounts to vote for it)
In 2005, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was my very first Sonic game I’ve ever played. My next door friend had it. I only had SNES and N64, Pokemon games on GBA/GBC, a PS2 and an Xbox so Sonic wasn’t really on my radar. I asked to play it and then City Escape came across the screen, immediately wanted to buy a GameCube.
Christmas that year, I asked for a Sonic games, but got the Mega Collection. I really enjoyed that collection. Sonic 3 & Knuckles is still one of the best games ever created. I did get Battle months later along with Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog. People love to hate those other two games, but I enjoyed them. really thought that was their peak. Didn’t bother with ‘06, and didn’t get a Sonic game again until Sonic Mania and Frontiers. Mania was a masterpiece but felt like a one-off because I grew bored of Frontiers. Mainly because there just wasn’t much to do. It was like their version of Pokemon Scarlet. I really hoped there would be a renaissance of Sonic.
I feel like that wish was granted in a different way. The first so Sonic movies are fantastic. My kids and I watch them constantly. And then Shadow Generations is so good. Like it’s almost like rediscovering the Sonic games for a second time. Now if they bring back Chao Garden, it seals the deal. I enjoyed collecting items in SA2 stages to level up the Chaos, it didn’t even feel like a grind.
This 2nd trailer alone pretty much guarantees that this is the best trilogy since Toy Story. It almost feels like, not closure, but like it completes what we wanted/envisioned Shadow to be like when we were kids.
It’s unbelievable that we are witnessing it. Especially after the movie series was pretty much DOA with the first movie’s original trailer.
The new Mario Party is great. My only complaint so far is that some of the mini games are way too long. The Jamboree Buddy games in particular. I preferred the allies. The Jamboree Buddies are just too much work for a nerfed reward that can be stolen next turn.
Been switching between Dragon Quest XI (first one I’ve ever played and is interesting so far), Echoes of Wisdom (just met Conde in the mountains), and Shadow Generations. Also bought Sonic Superstars for $6 so might squeeze that in somewhere
The DS Lite 100%. It’s so unfortunate it wasn’t microwave proof though. My first one was destroyed when my brother tried hiding it in one that still had the timer on.
DS was around the time I took a hiatus from Pokemon/Nintendo so didn’t play very many games from it other than Pokemon (almost the same now) However having played more recently I have to say my top 4 are:
4. Pokémon Diamond 3. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky 2. Pokémon Heartgold & SoulSilver 1. Mystery Dungeon 2: Shiren the Wanderer
I just discovered the Shiren games this year. I have to say it (along with Legends Arceus and Tears of the Kingdom) made this year the most fun I’ve had with video games in a VERY long time. The challenging concept of permadeath that made you question risk vs reward was definitely enjoyable in Shiren.

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of December 2024
@Markatron84 I haven't bought the DLC. I got back into it recently to try to get shiny Rayquaza and it confirmed one thing.
It is still a broken piece of garbage. Also I'd rather shiny hunt for that thing then suffer through that god awful raid.
Re: Switch 2's Rumoured 'C' Button Isn't Actually A 'C' Button
@MrCarlos46 I REALLY hope not to be honest. It's just more parental control setup that I have to do for the kids.

Re: Video: Here Are Felix's Top 5 Nintendo Switch Games Of 2024
Not sure I can find 5 games this year I played. It's been a pretty slow year (sorry Paper Mario! Maybe one day I'll get into it)
My top picks for this year were
4. Mario Party Jamboree
3. Echoes of Wisdom
2. Sonic x Shadow Generations
1. Shiren The Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island
#1 spot alone I spent 90 hours on this year since August when I grabbed a copy.

Re: Metacritic Reveals "The Worst Video Games Of 2024"
I smelled the stench on the Looney Tunes game from a mile away. It's GAME MILL for goodness sake. They are the modern day LJN.
It's obvious with their resume: Rise of Kong, Walking Dead Destinies, and everyone's beloved Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing!
Re: 2024 Has Been The Busiest Year Yet For Nintendo Switch Online In North America
The lack of mainline Pokémon games is still so disappointing. Those were the only games I've ever played on the GBC and GBA.
Golden Sun has been a great discovery though. Unfortunately my subscription ran out before I got too far in though
Re: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Makes The Longlist For BAFTA's 2025 'Best Game' Award
Another day, another nomination list where Shiren the Wanderer is snubbed.
Echoes of Wisdom is a definite good 2nd place winner though.

Re: Rate Your Favourite Switch Games Of The Year 2024
@Anti-Matter Not sure if trolling or not, but if for real, more power to you. Braver than I to play that.
But against Shiren 6, not a chance haha.

@johnedwin sounds about right! That's why I picked XI over it since it was on sale, and because the demo was enjoyable.

My top 3 in this order

Re: Random: Pokémon Fan Crunches The Numbers To Settle Alpha Sapphire's "Too Much Water" Debate
I’d rather have too much water than too much cutscenes or too much handholding.
Gen 9 had too much land, not enough much to do.
TPCi currently has too much mobile games.
There’s too much too much.
Re: UK Charts: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Crashes Out Of The Top 40
I don’t get it. What censorship are people complaining about. If it’s just lack of cleavage or partial nudity that’s absolutely absurd.

@roy130390 I’ve played it for a few hours now and had pretty much 0 issues, or at least none that I could tell. Way better than Frontiers.
