@Duncanballs The problem is that especially Sony has jacked up the prices in their PS store and now its happening in the XBox store as well.
Here in Norway, for many AAA games I have to pay 90 Euro for standard edition in the PS5 Store, while with my 10% discount club membership at my local store, I can still buy a physical copy in the launch week for under 70 Euro.
Digital copies used to be 10 Euro/USD cheaper, because there is no physical media and distribution costs.
Now they have become greedy and we pay more for digital than physical! It's stupid.
Sony is actually being sued for this, since they sell a Digital only version of the PS5 and thus those people are forced to pay the hefty premium on Digital copies now and getting shafted by Sony.
@jfp It's super annoying and quite sad that it's happening and I doubt the consumer authorities are going to bother with price fixing on a game console. When they currently have plenty of other problems to deal with.
But since it's a problem in Norway, Sweden and Danmark. They all have one thing in common and that is Bergsala AB. The Nintendo distributor here in the Nordics. So it seems its just this notorious distributor that is trying to pull a fast one to increase their profit margins.
The only one that can really take action here is Nintendo themselves, but then again, I hardly doubt they going to spend time dealing with this. We are fairly small footnote on the big global scale of console distribution.
@LikelySatan Yes the pervy design of some of the female blades can be really off-putting, but luckily most of the main female character blades are ok, so its quite easy to avoid/ignore the real pervy blade designs. Otherwise I would not have enjoyed the game as much myself and finish it.
I am a male gamer and even I find it really off-putting when they go way overboard with stupid pervert female designs. It just distracts from the game and not in a good way. I am long passed the Horney teenage phase and not interested at fawning at such ridiculousness.
@jfp Problem is that not many of those shops remove EU VAT, as I pay 25% Import VAT.
So it would be fine, since most countries in EU have 20+% VAT, but sadly a lot of retailers are lazy and refuse to remove local VAT on an order from outside EU, because they use outdated web sites.
So I just have to wait and see. Maybe some Nordic retailers start doing some "grey" imports to push the price down over coming months. Time will tell.
PS. Then there is also the issue with warranty, when you get issues with your Switch console and then have to send it abroad for repairs. That can end up very costly. So that is also a risk with ordering a Switch 2 console outside your country and having to deal with expensive shipping and repairs.
Well here in Norway, Sweden and Danmark, the Nordic distributor and major retailers have become the scalpers themselves and set the prices at 650 Euro for the base Switch 2 and a whopping 740 Euro for the Mario world bundle!
A tech news site has already called them out on this! As there is literally no excuse, when in the rest of Europe the price is at a normal level as advertised by Nintendo.
So, no Switch 2 for me and my son. I am not going to pay more for a Switch 2 than I did for the PS5 two years ago. This is beyond nuts and appalling really!
@LeGrosMartin Same here. For me Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the best game.
It's also the only game I managed to finish and not get bored halfway through.
The world covered in water and where people live on living Titans was such a unique setting with very diverse landscapes.
It was this unique setting together with a really good story that really made it my favorite in the series.
Also all the different Blades you could collect was cool and how it could customize your combat and even trigger unique dialog situations.
What I did found a big negative though, was the female Blade Character designs. Maybe they should stop hiring horny teenage designers bursting in hormones. /shrug
I tried XC3, but it quickly devolved into a boring repetitive game with too slow paced story. It started out good and interesting, but about a third way in, I stopped playing.
XCX is the pinnacle of boring repetitive grinding.... ugh.
"The 2019 microSD Express standard bridges internal and external storage technologies by utilizing the same PCI Express/NVMe interface as modern SSDs, offering significantly faster performance than traditional microSD cards—up to 880MB/s read and 650MB/s write speeds versus the 104MB/s maximum of UHS-I cards."
Mind you. The Switch 1 doesn't even come close to that UHS-I limit, but is long rumored to cap out at around 60-70MB/s.
So yeah, it's to be seen if Nintendo here too didn't skimp on the SD reader and put in a cheaper module with lower read/write specs.
If there is one notorious minefield out there, then its in the card reader and USB component industry.
@YesImCynical Really? Then why did I just buy an RTX4070 card for my son that has 12GB VRAM?
It's the older xx70 cards that were long stuck on 8GB VRAM I agree.
Either way, NVidia has just become a nasty monopoly business and we can only hope that AMD can get their crap together with their GFX cards, as they did with their CPU's to destroy Intel and able to do the same with NVidia.
NVidia needs to get a good humiliation (although they are currently good at humiliating themselves currently with the whole RTX50 debacle), like Intel got and put back in their place.
It's why I just bought a RTX4070 OC card (12GB VRAM) for my son's PC and not an RTX5070 card I would had to pay 400 bucks more for (wich offers same or even less performance shown in recent tests).
When it comes to Native 4K, of course amount of RAM is important to handle loading much larger resolution textures.
But also requires much faster nVME storage, to load these much larger texture file sizes into RAM.
That is why both XBox Series X and PS5 (for example) come with 16GB of RAM and onboard nVME storage.
The question is, how much RAM will the Switch 2 have?
At least it's a positive that it requires the new microSD Express cards, as it's rumored to support up to 800MB/s read speeds.
So people complaining about this being a cash crab, need to understand that the current SDXC cards in Switch 1 are horribly outdated and have extremely slow read speeds. Hence why the Switch 1 suffers such long load times in many games.
@Qwiff Exactly. As to why my fear is that Nintendo is getting trapped (willingly or unwillingly) into NVidia marketing shenanigans.
My LG OLED 4K TV already does 4K upscaling (quite well mind you. Especially with old DVDs) when it detects signals below 4K. Otherwise it would have been neigh on impossible to play Switch 1 games on my 65 inch TV, as it would have looked absolutely horrible with stretched 1080p on 65inch screen. Same with films and series on my old DVDs.
So, if all the Switch 2 does is offering 4K DLSS upscaling for the majority of games, then we just not going to notice any real difference from the Switch 1 other than higher framerates.
As it will just be the Switch 2 doing the 4K upscaling, instead of my TV.
Just to explain why upscaling is not the same as Native. Example, put a regular DVD in your PS5/XBox and play it on your TV (with 4K upscaling activated) and then put a Bluray on with native 4K image output.
I can tell you, you will see a difference on a 65inch TV. Even sitting 4 meters away on your couch.
@TYRANACLES It's worse. The Switch 2 has only 256GB built-in storage.
Actual Native 4K XBox Series X and PS5 games take up anywhere from 80-130GB of space on storage and these consoles come with 1TB built-in storage and I still had to expand them with 2 TB extra storage to be able to have a decent library of games stored on the console, instead of spending half my time clearing storage and downloading games.
So if the Switch 2 really is capable of Native 4K for certain games and Cyberpunk 2077 managed to compress down to 64GB in size, that doesn't bode well and means you are lucky to hold maybe 4-5 games tops on internal Switch 2 storage. Maybe 1-2 more with the smaller Nintendo games. But that's it.
So lets hope this announced 1TB Lexar card will be reasonably priced, but I don't hold my hopes up it will be anywhere under 150 bucks. That would mean you have to fork out at least 600 bucks to buy a Switch 2 + 1TB SD express card.
That's the same amount of money I paid for my PS5 two years ago!
@Medic_alert TFLOPS shows the raw power capabilities of the GFX cards! It gives you a rough baseline of the GFX capabilities of the SoC.
Gamer Nexus has already exposed NVidia with the terrible RTX50 generation cards and how they are no better than previous gen cards (some even worse), unless you turn on Frame generation ( Fake frames). Which is BS.
There is a big difference in actual Native 4K and DLSS upscaled to 4K. You can really see the difference on a large 4K TV ( 65+ inch ).
So if Nintendo is claiming that the Switch 2 is capable of Native 4K 60fps, then they need to actually able to back this up with facts and show us the SoC data sheet specs and not NVidia marketing shenanigans.
For the Switch 2 to be able to do this in Docked mode, it will need to be able to match the performance of the AMD Zen 1 Extreme SoC in PC handheld devices like the latest Rog Ally X.
If we finally get hold of the official specs and this new Switch 2 SoC is close to AMD Zen 1 extreme performance specs, I might actually start to believe the Switch 2 will be capable of delivering Native 4K for certain games.
@Orpheus79V That is just another rumor. Even Tomshardware hasn't got any real data yet on the new Switch 2 SoC.
We just have to wait until we get the official SoC datasheet specs leaked.
I mean, 3 TFLOPS could be about right, but is nothing to write home about. Especially for Native 4K gaming.
It wasn't until the PS5 ( 10 TFLOPS ) and XBox Series X ( 12 TFLOPS ) that offer true native 4K gaming at acceptable performance levels.
So, while 3 TFLOPS is quite better than the Switch 1, it is in fact not 10x faster.
Yes in handheld mode, its 10x faster if the Switch 2 can do 3 TFLOPS in handheld mode, but docked the Switch 1 clocked close to 600/700 GFLOPS.
All the while the fully clocked Tegra X1 on the NVidia shield back in the day topped out at 1 TFLOPS!
So honestly, if the new Switch 2 SoC tops out at 3 TFLOPS docked that is actually a huge letdown, as that is barely 3x faster than the 10 year old Tegra X1 SoC.
So, before we jump to any conclusions, lets hope this so called reported 3 TFLOPS is performance in handheld mode and that in docked mode we get closer to 5-6 TFLOPS at least.
As otherwise Native 4K is going to be an outright lie and not possible for the vast majority of games, save for some simple cartoony looking games.
It will then be more likely closer to 1440p native games that get then supersampled/upscaled to 4K via DLSS.
Of course it will still look much better on a large 4K TV, as most Switch 1 games topped out at 900p docked (or worse with variable resolution). It still not Native 4K that only the PS5 and XBox Series X is really capable of.
So I am taking these Native 4K 60fps claims with a huge clip of salt and wouldn't suprise me that there are NVidia DLSS and frame generation shenanigans at play here, to achieve it.
PS. Just for reference, the AMD Zen 1 Extreme SoC (in Rog Ally X for example) tops out at 8.3 TFLOPS.
So if the new NVidia SoC in Switch 2 gets even remotely close to the AMD Zen 1 Extreme, then we will talking and I will start to fully believe Native 4K 60fps claims in docked mode and would also explain the extra cooling fan in the new dock unit.
So we will see when we get hold of the official specs.
@Varkster We don't know yet, since there is literally zero information available about the new SoC.
You also have to understand it takes years to develop and manufacture a new SoC.
We also don't know if it really is a brand new SoC and not just deceptive marketing. It can just end up being a modified existing NVidia SoC.
Everything is speculation at this point until someone leaks the actual SoC specs.
@SBandy1 Not being able to take the Switch 2 console out of sleep with the Switch 1 Pro controller is just such a classic sleezy move!
Claiming you can still use your previous controllers, but then create just enough inconvenience to force the consumers to buy the new controllers anyway.
@Keman But this is the so called inflation correction that has been happening for last 2+ years.
Both on XBox and Playstation 5 store, new AAA games cost 90 bucks minimum now in my country, while I can often pickup the physical copy in my local store for around 65 bucks still with my 10% member discount.
I don't know what happened, but it used to be the other way around, where digital games were cheaper, since it doesn't carry the cost of physical medium and packing+distribution.
But with the PS5 having a digital only variant of the console, Sony has already been sued for this, abusing their market position and trying to force people with digital only consoles to pay a lot more for games than people who can buy physically.
It's sad to see Nintendo following suit with pricing their upcoming Switch 2 games also towards 90 bucks.
That is a 50% increase from Switch 1 games.
Sorry but after the whole RTX50 fiasco, I don't believe a single thing coming out of the mouth of NVidia.
Especially with their CEO boasting on stage that the RTX5070 boasts RTX4090 performance claim, which is of course an outrageous lie.
It's sad to see NVidia falling so far and abusing their dominance position in the GFX market.
So when it comes to Switch 2 performance, I will wait and see when sites like Gamer Nexus and DF get their hands on the Switch 2.
Either way, the Tegra X1 SoC in the Switch is about 10 years old by now, so you expect a very significant performance increase if the SoC in the Switch 2 is brandnew tech co-developed by NVidia and Nintendo.
It simply comes down to price. Most OLED screens support HDR, so it was a mystery as to why the Switch OLED didn’t support it.
Though, right now an OLED that also supports 120fps and VRR would have pushed the price of the Switch 2 too far up and on same level as PS5 and XBox series X.
People right now are already balking at the 400+ price tag.
Almost all problems at launch were on the PS4 and XBox One.
I had the XBox One X scorpio edition console at the time and the game ran great with very little issues.
I heard it was the same on PS4 Pro.
And of course Xbox Series X amd PS5 had little to no issues either.
The initial reception of the game would have been much better if they didn’t release it on previous gen consoles.
Right now, after Phantom Liberty together with the skill tree revamp, it has become my all time favorite game.
Just playing another playthrough…… again.
The voice acting and motion capture is on a different level and V being fully voiced as well is so incredibly immersive.
PS. No disrespect to the author, but maybe he shouldn’t review shooter games. The gun gameplay in this game is simply amazing. Especially after the skill tree revamp that came with the expansion.
I mean, if you only played one of the first missions in ACT.1 with V having barely any skills and a crappy starter weapon. He also has barely any defense against cyberware attacks.
It’s an RPG, so the game will only really open up in ACT.2, with V having unlocked more skills and perks and gained access to better weapons.
@AlleyCat It means that the game with default English language pack will be on the cartridge, so if you play in English it will not require any additional downloads.
This makes sense, because Voice over/language packs take up a huge chunk of storage.
@Pat_trick Again! Because there was no significant difference between the PS4 and PS5 with Forbidden West. This game did not have a native PS5 version. The PS5 upgrade was free, because it mostly just unlocked 60fps and offered 4K 30fps upscaling in quality mode. On PS4 Pro you could run it at max.1800p 60fps.
So on the PS5 you basically just got the quality mode option that upscales to 4K 30fps.
So, again 2: Paid PS5 version upgrades offer a native PS5 version of the game with native 4K support. Hence the upgrade price tag.
Again, that some third party publishers offered such upgrades for free, that is their own decision outside of Sony. Also, since these free upgrades are/were on multi platform games available also on XBOX and PC. Like CP2077, Witcher 3, etc.
So Sony would have shot themselves in the foot (and created another outrage), if they enforced a 10 bucks upgrade price tag for all publishers on PS5, while players on XBox and PC could get it for free.
@Pat_trick Those are 3rd party studio decisions to make an upgrade for free or not.
Just like CDProject Red offered a free major GFX update to CP2077 with RTX, etc. Same for Witcher 3 with the nextgen update.
When it comes to Nintendo, the two Zelda games will get a major GFX upgrade, with better visuals and support 4K 60 FPS among things, hence the upgrade price tag.
Just like with the PS5 versions I had to pay 10 bucks for, where the PS4 version was locked to 1080p.
The other games, like Pokemon Scarlet & Violet get a free upgrade, since they not going to do anything with those games other than unlock the 30fps framerate lock (like what was leaked some time ago) to enable a speed bump in performance on the Switch 2. They won't get any visual upgrade nor support for 4K 60FPS. Probably not even DLSS support for upscaling. Hence why it will be free.
@The-Chosen-one It's definitely amazing, as its the best looking and most amazing open world game to date.
Just can't get enough and just playing yet another play through again lol.
I am pretty sure it won't have Ray tracing support, since it's not mentioned during the Direct yesterday and would have been a major GFX feature to omit in the Switch 2 announcement.
Not surprised either, as RTX support would be impossible in such a small console without causing GFX power demand and cooling issues.
So the lack of RTX settings will greatly help with performance on the Switch 2. It will still look amazing though.
@Pat_trick Those were already released / old games on PS4 that were simply made compatible to run on PS5 LOL!
Newer games that actually released on both PS4 and PS5 simultaneously you had to pay a 10 dollar upgrade fee if you had bought the PS4 version and want to run the PS5 version.
I know, as I have both PS4 and PS5 and had to pay 10 bucks for some of the newer games I bought on the PS4, since I only got the PS5 less than 2 years ago.
This is also, because PS5 games are 10 USD/Euro more expensive.
So now we see the same thing happening with the Switch 2. Where new Switch 2 titles will have a 10 bucks price increase. Some games, with significant GFX update will have a 10 bucks upgrade price tag, while a bunch of Switch 1 titles will have a free upgrade (i.e. Nintendo basically not doing anything, as the improved hardware of Switch 2 will give better performance for free).
Nintendo is notorious for cutting costs wherever they can to increase profit margins on their consoles and keep the price down.
Honestly, Everyone expected just a bog standard 1080p 60fps LCD panel at the launch for Switch 2, with an inevitable OLED version down the road.... because you know.... Nintendo.
So that the launch Switch 2 has a 1080p LCD screen "WITH" 120FPS, HDR and VRR is simply amazing coming from Nintendo. As DF pointed out, because of HDR support it might even be a cutting edge mini-LED LCD panel.
At least this would justify the higher price of the Switch 2 and I gladly pay it.
So yeah, its actually quite amazing and refreshing to see that Nintendo is finally trying to catch up and embrace the available/new technology.
@nocdaes I find it more baffling they release the game cube version of Zelda Wind Waker in NSO expansion pack, while they have the amazing remake of this game rusting away on the WiiU!!!!
Together with Twilight Princes HD, that is an even bigger crime in my book!
Not to mention the amazing Link wolf amiibo dusting away in a drawer. /sigh
Especially the last 2 years have frankly been quite abysmal with first party releases from Nintendo on the Switch 1, that they easily could have re-released those two Zelda games as a bridge towards the Switch 2 release.
The Switch 2 logo on the top makes sense, as a clear warning to people it's a Switch 2 game.
The info on the bottom however, It's a crazy stupid decision to be honest. This kind of information is usually on the back of the case.
Why in earth they decided to put that on the front beats me.
It's certainly distracting and unnecessary.
PS. Not that I care much about box art. I usually take the cartridge out and put it in the Switch carrier case game card slot sleeve and toss the case in some drawer, collecting dust.
@rjejr You started with that you wished the Switch didn't have a screen and then I said, well then it wouldn't be a Switch anymore.
The Switch Lite is just an answer for the 3DS handheld crowd that wanted something more compact.
Remember that the 2DS/3DS consoles is one of the most selling consoles of all time.
But like I said, I have not seen any total sales numbers for the Lite console if it really is all that successful.
It's whole lot different to go the other direction with releasing a TV only Switch console, because people then automatically expect and demand much better hardware. That never gonna happen and will be pointless for Nintendo, since the Switch will sell the most units, because of its versatility and as such game studios will optimize their games for the Switch anyway.
The Switch Lite was for people that wanted something more compact and lighter as handheld.
It had the exact same hardware ( SoC ) as the regular Switch. Just not detachable JoyCons.
(though I have never seen actual sales figures to figure out if it was really popular enough, since it had a lot of drawbacks. No docking and no detachable joycons to more easily fix joystick drift issues).
Nintendo is not going back to traditional TV only console. It is also pointless as they cannot put better hardware in it, since Developers will optimize for the weakest hardware (aka Switch handheld).
When it comes to 4K upscaling for TV, Nintendo has you already covered with the Switch 2, as it will have a brand-new co-developed NVidia SoC that will support DLSS.
@Daniel36 Yeah I know, but it was still a unique and great game though. They just messed up a little with the Darkzone PVP and never got it right, but the PVE part of the game was amazing and I had a blast. Played it on and off for years with friends.
I also enjoyed Division 2, though the Washington setting was just not as impressive as the New York setting of Division 1 (hence why they went back to NY with the expansion lol). I just missed roaming through the abandoned subway tunnels in NY in Division 1.
@rjejr Well it wouldn't be a Switch anymore if they remove the screen.
The whole point of the Switch is that you can seamlessly switch between handheld and docked mode. That is the whole strength and success of the Switch console.
@SurprisedRobinChu Yeah but Ray Tracing is supported both NVidia and AMD cards with hardware acceleration.
They should have developed their Ray Tracing mod more and make it compatible with the entire game, instead of a few pre-generated maps.
If this (yet another preview) version requires a high end PC, just like the current "official" Ray Tracing mod (which is still in preview/demo for how many years now?). Then forget it! It won't come to any console any time soon.
Either way, this one could be a bit more hopeful if its just an enhanced Shader update. So we'll see.
@rjejr I bought the Playstation Portal two weeks ago, which has an 8inch 1080p LCD screen. It's gorgeous!
So I hope the Switch 2 will boost the same screen. Then I will be a happy camper.
I mean, with up to a 7inch screen, they could get away with 720p (though you do notice the pixels). But now they increase the size to 8inch, then you definitely going to notice it if they stick to 720p. It will look very grainy.
It would be very disappointing if Nintendo would skimp on that and stick to 720p on 8inch.
They don't have to release any new version. So I don't know why people get upset or surprised about this?
People seem to forget that the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with Switch 1.
All they will do is unlock 60FPS on the Switch 2. Which I hope they will do with other Switch 1 games, like the Zelda games ( BOTW, TOTK) and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet for example.
I myself would love to replay Pokemon Violet on the Switch 2 with actual decent performance / framerates.
If PocketPair had actually stolen assets (which has been debunked), they would be liable of theft! Which is far more serious than for example a Copyright infringement.
@dkxcalibur If Pocketpair had infringed on that kind of Copyright (IP, Art), then Nintendo / TPC would have immediately sued them and pulled a CoD. Like they always do.
The Pokemon Company is now trying to file new patents on very broad creature capture/taming and pet mechanics!
Not to mention trying to shoehorn them into old parent patents. Which is even more dangerous, as it would give them legal power to go after older competitor games, like Yo-kai Watch, Digimon, TemTem, etc.
This should not be allowed to file such patents! Catching creatures and using them as pets goes way back till D&D first edition with pet classes.
Many RPG games have create capture and pet class mechanics.
In essence, Nintendo, the Pokemon Company and any other Game studio out there developing/releasing RPG games is riding on the success and ideas of the original D&D. The grandfather of RPG game systems.
If Gary Gygax had patented his RPG attribute and Class systems, we would never seen the emergence of RPG games.
As why stop there? Next, a huge Game publisher like EA, Tencent, ActiVision or Ubisoft is going to patent FPS mechanics.
As why stop there? .... you starting to see the problem with this?
Again. We are not talking about Copyright here (like protecting art assets, IP, etc) , but The Pokemon Company trying to patent game mechanics!
@Folkloner You are parroting disinformation by overzealous fans!
This has been long debunked and proven that they did not steal Pokemon assets!
This is also not a Copyright lawsuit, but Pokemon Company being sleazy and scared about Palworld's success and trying to sue them on patents they filed AFTER the release of Palworld, but trying to shove it under older Parent patents in an attempt to make them valid!
If you and other commentors cannot see the danger here if The Pokemon Company ends up being successful in retro-actively enforcing new patents this way.
This would mean that any huge company with big pockets and big time lawyers can go after smaller companies as a Patent troll and so destroy any competition and in effect create a Monopoly!
It will stifle game development and would be the end of Indie developers, who will not dare developing any new game anymore out of fear being destroyed by a competitor that might see them as a threat.
@Bunkerneath No one in their right mind would buy a Steam deck today. Especially for the price it's going here in Europe.
I can buy the new Rog Ally X for less than the Steam deck OLED is going for here.
Unless you into purely retro gaming, the hardware in Steam deck is sorely outdated and Valve needs to come up with a new gen Steam deck this year to stay relevant.
None of the latest big titles run on Steam deck and if they do, good luck playing it in a blurry stuttering mess.
Seeing how good XBox Cloud is today (took a while to get there), Microsoft could just launch a PS Portal competitor focused on XBox Cloud gaming. This way they can keep the price low, like the Portal.
I am all for it, to be honest, seeing how quickly the hardware in these handhelds (that run games natively) get outdated.
It's why I didn't buy Steam deck or any of these PC handhelds. Paying up to over 1000 euro for a handheld that will be outdated again in 2-3 years.
@N00BiSH They have already been doing that with PC Gamepass and XBox GamePass Ultimate (which I have).
I really like XBox Gamepass Ultimate and XBox in general in that a lot of games I buy on XBox I can download natively on my PC via the XBox App and so choose whenever I want to play on TV or retreat back to my PC (when TV is occupied).
Then with Ultimate I also have access to XBox Cloud gaming, which works great too now.
Since I also own a PS5 and Sony finally added Cloud streaming to the Portal, I just bought the Portal. Really nice handheld device and the 8inch screen is perfect. So gives me an idea how gaming will be on the Switch 2 with a larger 8inch screen.
It's still a bit small though for certain games, where its hard to read the text still.
I can understand the need to keep pushing out articles to keep the Switch 2 hype alive for clicks.
But seriously? Had anyone truly expected the Switch 2 to not have WiFi6 and NFC?
Amiibo's are a huge success for Nintendo and they can't make enough of them at times. So why would they stop with these on the Switch 2? Just leaving the obvious out of it (backwards compatibility with Switch 1).
@IceClimbers It doesn't. Maybe in Japan? And this video is 11 months old.
Here in Europe it sucks and lets not even start with PS Remote Play, with it's horrendous low resolution!
Complaints about PS Remote play is nothing new. It's been an issue since PS4 and Sony doesn't give a darn.
They just had to come up with PS+ Premium, as answer to XBox Gamepass success.
If it was up to Sony, they rather don't have PS+ Premium and just want to sell you new games 20 bucks more expensive than on other platforms!
XBox GamePass is much better value, it has a better game catalogue and all new First Party releases are available on Day 1.
Something Sony refuses to do! Not only do they charge a hell lot more for PS+ Premium, but they also delay First Party releases with at least a year, before they become available. They know people are desperate, gullible and pay 90+ bucks on release day to play the new game on day one and then also double dip on PS+ Premium.
Mind you. I have both XBOX Series X and PS5. I had PS+ Premium for a year until last year Summer, due to a deal when I bought the PS5 (basically got a whole year of PS+ Premium for just 30 bucks extra, with purchase of the PS5 at the time). So I had a whole year to test it out and compare to XBOX GamePass Ultimate. But when I saw the price for renewal for PS+ Premium, I was literally shocked and just had to laugh and cancel.
Cloud Gaming performance is probably very region dependent. Also XBOX Cloud uses Microsoft Azure and especially in East US, the Azure Data Centers have been at capacity for a while and MS is struggling to resolve the issue, trying to expand existing regions with new data centers, etc to relieve the pressure on East US region Data centers.
So this could result in issues with XBox Cloud gaming in East US, with there simply not being enough capacity at peak times.
MS can't just pop up new Data Centers left and right. It's not that simple. There is a lot of regulation involved, security, power demands and planning, before the first shovel goes into the ground. It can take several years (at least) to get a new Data Center up and running.

Re: Switch 2 Game-Key Cards Aren't Tied To Nintendo Accounts
Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal
Re: Best Xenoblade Chronicles Games Of All Time
@LikelySatan Yes the pervy design of some of the female blades can be really off-putting, but luckily most of the main female character blades are ok, so its quite easy to avoid/ignore the real pervy blade designs.
Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal
Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal
Re: Best Xenoblade Chronicles Games Of All Time
@LeGrosMartin Same here.
XCX is the pinnacle of boring repetitive grinding.... ugh.
Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"
@YesImCynical
Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"
Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"
Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"
@TYRANACLES It's worse. The Switch 2 has only 256GB built-in storage.
Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"
Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"
Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"
@Varkster We don't know yet, since there is literally zero information available about the new SoC.
You also have to understand it takes years to develop and manufacture a new SoC.
We also don't know if it really is a brand new SoC and not just deceptive marketing. It can just end up being a modified existing NVidia SoC.
Everything is speculation at this point until someone leaks the actual SoC specs.
Re: Nintendo Confirms Switch Controllers Are Compatible With "Switch 2 Exclusive Games"
@SBandy1 Not being able to take the Switch 2 console out of sleep with the Switch 1 Pro controller is just such a classic sleezy move!
Claiming you can still use your previous controllers, but then create just enough inconvenience to force the consumers to buy the new controllers anyway.
Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"
Re: Nvidia: Switch 2 Has "10x The Graphics Performance Of The Nintendo Switch"
Re: Switch 2's Jump From OLED To LCD Wasn't A Decision Nintendo Took Lightly
It simply comes down to price. Most OLED screens support HDR, so it was a mystery as to why the Switch OLED didn’t support it.
Though, right now an OLED that also supports 120fps and VRR would have pushed the price of the Switch 2 too far up and on same level as PS5 and XBox series X.
People right now are already balking at the 400+ price tag.
Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077 Might Pull A 'Witcher 3' On Switch 2

Re: Cyberpunk 2077's Physical Edition On Switch 2 Won't Require A Download
@AlleyCat It means that the game with default English language pack will be on the cartridge, so if you play in English it will not require any additional downloads.
This makes sense, because Voice over/language packs take up a huge chunk of storage.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Game Upgrade Pack Prices Seemingly Revealed (Japan)
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Game Upgrade Pack Prices Seemingly Revealed (Japan)
Re: Switch 2 Support To Be Made Available Soon In Unity Game Engine
@The-Chosen-one It's definitely amazing, as its the best looking and most amazing open world game to date.
Just can't get enough and just playing yet another play through again lol.
I am pretty sure it won't have Ray tracing support, since it's not mentioned during the Direct yesterday and would have been a major GFX feature to omit in the Switch 2 announcement.
Not surprised either, as RTX support would be impossible in such a small console without causing GFX power demand and cooling issues.
So the lack of RTX settings will greatly help with performance on the Switch 2. It will still look amazing though.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Game Upgrade Pack Prices Seemingly Revealed (Japan)
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Includes Support For Variable Refresh Rate Technology
@skywake I think you missed his point!
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Game Upgrade Pack Prices Seemingly Revealed (Japan)
Re: Yep, Metroid Prime 4's Box Art For Switch 2 Is Ruined
The Switch 2 logo on the top makes sense, as a clear warning to people it's a Switch 2 game.
The info on the bottom however, It's a crazy stupid decision to be honest. This kind of information is usually on the back of the case.
Why in earth they decided to put that on the front beats me.
It's certainly distracting and unnecessary.
PS. Not that I care much about box art. I usually take the cartridge out and put it in the Switch carrier case game card slot sleeve and toss the case in some drawer, collecting dust.
Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting
Switch 2 games will now be on par with Xbox and PS5 game prices.
Inflation sucks.

Re: A Hidden 60fps Mode In Xenoblade Chronicles X Gives Us Hope For A Switch 2 Upgrade
Re: A Hidden 60fps Mode In Xenoblade Chronicles X Gives Us Hope For A Switch 2 Upgrade
@rjejr You completely miss the point.
Re: Switch 2's Pre-Order Date Might Have Been Accidentally Leaked By Best Buy
@dazzleshell Exactly. Typical clickbait nothing burger.
Of course Pre-orders will go live right after the Switch 2 direct.
What people are more interested in, is the actual date you can pick up the Switch 2, which can be as far as Nov/Dec 2025.
Re: Ubisoft Opens New Subsidiary Backed By Tencent For Assassin's Creed And Other IP
Re: Ubisoft Opens New Subsidiary Backed By Tencent For Assassin's Creed And Other IP
@8bit-Man Well, TenCent is the most greedy Game publisher on the planet. So them slowly buying up Ubisoft is the perfect marriage.
Like I said in my previous post. They deserve each other.
( It's sad really what has become of Ubisoft, as they used to make some great games. I had such a blast playing The Division back in the day ).
Re: Ubisoft Opens New Subsidiary Backed By Tencent For Assassin's Creed And Other IP
@Mariotag Well TenCent is ten times worse (no pun intended).
So they deserve each other.
Re: A Hidden 60fps Mode In Xenoblade Chronicles X Gives Us Hope For A Switch 2 Upgrade
@rjejr Well it wouldn't be a Switch anymore if they remove the screen.
The whole point of the Switch is that you can seamlessly switch between handheld and docked mode.
That is the whole strength and success of the Switch console.
Re: Minecraft Is Getting A Graphics Upgrade
@SurprisedRobinChu Yeah but Ray Tracing is supported both NVidia and AMD cards with hardware acceleration.
They should have developed their Ray Tracing mod more and make it compatible with the entire game, instead of a few pre-generated maps.
If this (yet another preview) version requires a high end PC, just like the current "official" Ray Tracing mod (which is still in preview/demo for how many years now?). Then forget it! It won't come to any console any time soon.
Either way, this one could be a bit more hopeful if its just an enhanced Shader update. So we'll see.
Re: A Hidden 60fps Mode In Xenoblade Chronicles X Gives Us Hope For A Switch 2 Upgrade
Re: A Hidden 60fps Mode In Xenoblade Chronicles X Gives Us Hope For A Switch 2 Upgrade
Re: Pocketpair Recalls "Depressing Day" Nintendo Announced Its Palworld Lawsuit
@Mesozoic_Masquerade Stop spreading misinformation!
If PocketPair had actually stolen assets (which has been debunked), they would be liable of theft! Which is far more serious than for example a Copyright infringement.
Re: Pocketpair Recalls "Depressing Day" Nintendo Announced Its Palworld Lawsuit
@dkxcalibur If Pocketpair had infringed on that kind of Copyright (IP, Art), then Nintendo / TPC would have immediately sued them and pulled a CoD. Like they always do.
Re: Pocketpair Recalls "Depressing Day" Nintendo Announced Its Palworld Lawsuit
@Daniel36 They are not going after Copyright!
Re: Pocketpair Recalls "Depressing Day" Nintendo Announced Its Palworld Lawsuit
Re: Rumour: Xbox Expected To Join Switch 2 With A New Handheld This Year
@Bunkerneath No one in their right mind would buy a Steam deck today.
Re: Rumour: Xbox Expected To Join Switch 2 With A New Handheld This Year
@N00BiSH They have already been doing that with PC Gamepass and XBox GamePass Ultimate (which I have).

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Trailer Confirms Starters And Mega Evolutions, Coming Late 2025
@PikminMarioKirby Gen 10 is most likely coming in 2026.
With so many spin-offs getting focus, it seems we are looking at a 3 year interval between Mainline games from now on.
It wouldn't be a bad thing, if they kept on supporting the current mainline games with more expansion/DLC releases.

@iLikeUrAttitude Especially if this was recorded on Switch 2 Devkit. Outch.
Re: Xbox Head "Excited" About Switch 2 And Multiplatform Releases
