Re: Nintendo Will Discuss Upcoming Switch Games "At The Appropriate Time"

JereJK

@Jake_qwerp They might do it to boost sales. If you thought Nintendo was only releasing this one Mario game to hold us over for a while, you would be more likely to buy it.

On the other hand, if you were on the fence about the game and Nintendo announced another BETTER game that was coming out around the same time, then you would be less likely to buy it.

It's a good business strategy

Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month

JereJK

@Razer A lot of things to consider but I will just name a few. Smash is the biggest crossover in gaming history, so any character reveal is noteworthy by fans and non-fans alike. The switch is still selling like hotcakes so there are plenty of people still picking up older games (like Smash) for the console, especially since it is a popular title.

Another thing that you might not know, Smash is one of those games with lasting value. Even with covid and mediocre online, people still find a way to play and have fun with it. I play with my friends over LAN cable and the connection is smooth most of the time. I just introduced some of my playstation buddies to smash and they love it already. I’m not a single player kind of guy so I can’t speak on that perspective.

In terms of popularity, Smash deserves all the hype it gets

Re: Minecraft's Steve Revealed As Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next DLC Fighter

JereJK

Not sure why this character is getting so much hate. Minecraft is ICONIC in the video game industry.

And people saying he doesn't fit into Smash's style, or he looks bland? THAT'S EXACTLY HOW HE LOOKS IN HIS ORIGINAL GAME. Character styles don't need to be revamped to fit in. Most of the ones that were changed for Smash were outdated or 2D figures.

People will complain about anything these days. It's not like you guys worked on the content yourselves, or stand to lose money because he was chosen.

Re: Paper Mario Producer Says "It's A Necessity" To Change The Combat System In Every Entry

JereJK

@sanderev what exactly didn’t you like about ttyd? It was the best entry in the series by most fans. If you didn’t like it then you wouldn’t get why some of us didn’t enjoy this one. N64 version was close to TTYD and is also held in high regard. The battle systems, party members, and exp progression is what made it for me. Origami King’s battle system is wonky to me. Since the game lacks true rpg progression, I find no real appeal in battling enemies. Someone told me that they didn’t REALLY implement partners into this one either. So before I could even dive deep into the game, I retired from it. Doesn’t feel like the rpg I fell in love with.

Re: Feature: Prepare To Meet The Light! Where Is Kid Icarus: Uprising On Switch?

JereJK

I would love to see a port or sequel. I hate seeing people pretending like the controls wouldnt work on switch. It could be just like any other normal game that has TWO control sticks instead of one. It probably would’ve been the same on 3DS if it were capable. It’s not hard learning to use two control sticks instead of one. Who needs the touch screen?

Re: Epic Pulls Fortnite Dog From Sale After Player Backlash, Compensation Being Provided

JereJK

@AnnoyingFrenzy Can't disagree with that, I'm a huge MW3 and 2 is great as well. But while the systems in both the games worked so well, it's worth noting that Activision put out a new entry every year so if you wanted to keep up with the times you basically had to buy the new one. If you ask me, I feel like buying the new edition every year is pretty much the same in terms of price as buying cosmetic items separately.

And also, Fortnite does give out freebies and give players chances to earn in-game currency and skins without spending any money. They have challenges where you can get rare items without even purchasing a season pass. But at the end of the day, some people want every skin and they feel the need to buy them as they come. That's pretty much the same as someone collecting items for a set imo. At that point, if they have the money to spend then let them spend it. If they don't, they can just play the game for the game.

Re: Epic Pulls Fortnite Dog From Sale After Player Backlash, Compensation Being Provided

JereJK

@AnnoyingFrenzy but you have to remember that many people don't have the money to buy the game in the first place so the type of "f2p" model that fortnite has is very generous to the low income gamer. Not to mention that you have access to everything that people who by the season pass has access to besides the cosmetics it is really fair. It's a win for the business and consumer alike. I mean, you probably spend more on games than the average consumer. And if that's the case then I would understand why you would feel that way towards the system.

Re: Splatoon Producer Hasn't Thought About The Future Of The Series Just Yet

JereJK

@Nintendofan83 Sorry i think I got mixed up in my previous comment. SS was for Wii, not WiiU. But there’s still cases of Nintendo releasing two zelda games on systems before. Like Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks on the DS. And OoT and Majora’s Mask for 64. The only thing about that is Zelda is a story heavy game so you can do a lot with a new story. Splatoon seems more gameplay/online heavy and Splatoon 2 looks like it already reaches the current Switch’s limitations. If they wanted to add anything new they could just put it in an update. There really isn’t any reason to make a completely new game at this point. The smart thing to do would be developing the Splatoon 3 for their next upcoming console/switch upgrade

Re: Class Action Lawsuit Officially Filed Against Nintendo For Switch Joy-Con "Drifting" Issues

JereJK

@AlternateButtons Oh please show me the mystical chest that will keep my joycon unharmed while they aren't being used.

I keep mine in a case and the drift has still occurred in both my left joycons. Even if you don't take as good care of them as you should, they shouldn't become defective if they cost over $60 on the market. They're far too expensive to break so easily. If Nintendo wouldn't have been cheap in making them then this problem would have been avoided. It's sad that I've known them for having the highest quality products all these years but that is being ruined by the joycon

Re: Class Action Lawsuit Officially Filed Against Nintendo For Switch Joy-Con "Drifting" Issues

JereJK

@Darkyoshi98 I have over a dozen consoles, all in nearly perfect condition. I even have two gamecube controllers from over 10 years ago still in good/working condition. I've only had my switch for a little over a year and I already had drift problems in the joycons that came with the Switch. I bought some new ones and not long after I started experiencing the same with my new ones. This doesn't happen with any of my other controllers but the joycons. Just because you got lucky with yours doesn't mean this isn't a real problem with everyone else

Re: Splatoon Producer Hasn't Thought About The Future Of The Series Just Yet

JereJK

@Nintendofan83 Not really true when you considered how the Zelda games were put out. They released the first BOTW with the WiiU in mind just like when they released Twilight Princess with the Gamecube. But before that the WiiU got Skyward Sword. So releasing two Zelda games (or more) on Nintendo consoles has always been a thing. Even back then with Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. So you can't really lump that logic in with Splatoon

Re: Nintendo Thinking About Extending Switch Online Retro Library Beyond NES Software

JereJK

@SNES64DD I’m not sure if you’re agreeing with me or not. But here’s something to remember. The Wii was popular in it’s time so Nintendo released ports of SM64, LoZOoT, and Majora’s Mask to it’s virtual console line. In terms of legacy the N64 was two consoles behind the Wii. Today the gamecube is three consoles behind the Switch if you count the WiiU. And the Switch is also doing well. So if you went by the same logic of the Wii’s virtual console I would say that it isn’t impossible to just put out direct ports instead of remastering everything. Nostalgia is cool and all but why waste resources remastering those games when you can make sequels to then with much more content and just port the older ones to the console so people can play them before the sequels.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved Sunshine and I would love a remake for it in HD but if it was the exact same game with just better graphics then I wouldn’t pay $60 for it. Graphics never mattered that much to me and it’s never been a selling point for Nintendo either as far as I know

Re: Nintendo Thinking About Extending Switch Online Retro Library Beyond NES Software

JereJK

@SNES64DD but at that point it’s really a matter of what’s easier to do. Yeah some HD remasters would be cool but direct ports would be a lot easier to push out right? Then you won’t have to charge a premium for the HD versions when you can drop the ports for like $10, which will attract many more consumers considering most people don’t want to pay today’s msrp of $60 for a game they already played in the past with better graphics. There are some games that would be great as remakes but some that necessarily don’t need them imo. They could remake some with the potential to be replayed and port the others. I feel like both sides would be happy that way.

Re: NBA 2K19 Newcomers Outraged By In-Game Video Advertisments

JereJK

@dleec8 I was going to say this. 2K TV has been a thing for years now and the only people who wouldn’t know this are the ones who haven’t been playing the game at all. Not only that, but it lets you skip the 2KTV show after the game finishes loading. It’s weird that Nintendo Life would post this article without actually knowing what is going on
