One of the best video games ever made.

Regardless of the small number of courses, they are so well-designed you can keep coming back to them to shave milliseconds from your time for years. A masterpiece that everyone should play.

Mario, Sonic, Pokémon - great games but Nintendo and Sega are a little too reliant on these core series.

@samuelvictor I think F-Zero GX on Switch is only a matter of time. Then the new one will come out hopefully once the series 'gets back on track' 😂

One of the most fun and addictive video games ever produced. A masterpiece and a highlight of the wider Pokemon series. Yet another game neglected by the suits at Nintendo.

This is the problem with nostalgic reimaginings - they're never as good as the titles they're influenced by. Times move on, and the title needed something new. A shame.

Golden Sun would be nice but the Switch is saturated in JRPGs. It is short on high-quality racing games so 1080 Snowboarding, Wave Race and F-Zero would be most welcome in my view.

Looks like a lot of fun. Graphics are a bit generic though but I like the way it (appears) to handle. Definitely one to watch. Hope to gets a physical release.

@Bobb Same. The system has far too many of these big, long games. What we do need more of is pick-up-and-play titles.

This is actually quite impressive.

It also gets me thinking 'how hard can it be for Nintendo to make a new F-Zero?' If a small team can do this then there's no excuses for Nintendo themselves frustrating fans for years hoping for a new game in the series.

I played this on Game Pass and it was excellent. Weird, but excellent!

Another day, another JRPG.

How are these all economically-viable for developers and publishers? The Switch is saturated in the things. I'm trying to get through Xenoblade and it takes so long! Can't see myself needing too many, yet the Switch is swamped in them.

Fighting games, 3D platformers, non-kart racers, FPS titles and many other interesting styles of games are severely lacking on Switch.

Just what the Switch was seriously lacking in! A new pixel art Metroidvania. We haven't had one in since... Oooh... ten minutes?

We'll probably end up with a load more remasters, JRPGs and Metroidvania - genres that system is saturated in. Hope is pretty much gone at this stage for franchise revivals that long term fans crave.

I suppose they'll keep pumping these out until people lose interest. I certainly have.

Switch is in dire need of a hardware upgrade.

Lots of 'safe' franchise games. I don't see much in the way of innovation. Hardly extraordinary.

So many other series haven't evolved either.

This is a commercial decision. Nintendo just wants to put out the 'safe' Mario/Pokemon/Zelda/Animal Crossings and lazy spin-offs there off. Unless a game sells in the tens of millions they don't care. Long term fans like myself end up losing interest and playing games elsewhere. Bad business decision in the long run I feel.

No interest in this series. Far too repetitive and drawn out. We've had three entries on the Switch already. Time for something a bit different I feel.

Day 1 - if..... it's not rubbish.

@Medic_Alert 9 could include every track every, just like Smash Ultimate, and/or have a fully fleshed out story mode. Times have moved on and 8 is old hat now.

You did not include an option for track design - I predict it will have creative elements a la Mario Maker - think "Mario Kart Maker".

@iLikeUrAttitude 8 Deluxe still selling doesn't preclude everyone who owns it from wanting and purchasing another game in the series.

A pretty poor year for Nintendo gaming if you’ve been around a while and played all these remakes and ports. If you’re not into indies and JRPGs there’s not a huge choice to pick from.

If Gear Club 2 has the full game on the cart I’ll buy it. If not, no buy.

Unless the full game is on the game card then it is entirely pointless buying this. Waste of plastic.

Given the amount of money they make this just looks like penny-pinching.

@Vexx234 Shocking how little originality there is in gaming these days. Because of the high cost of making them, everyone is scared to do something a little different.

The quality of racers on Switch is very poor. The only decent ones are old ports. If you're a fan of the genre you'll have played them before.

I had reasonable expectations for Cruis'n and even those weren't met.

Perhaps the best modern racing game on the system that's not an old port is Sonic Team Racing - looks and runs really well on Switch and plays good too. No masterpiece but worth a look.

@Rayquaza2510 I like her videos (apart from the over zealous jump-cuts every couple of seconds) but completely agree with your perspective on the censoring - it’s out of control. If anyone disagrees with anything she says they are immediately banned. That’s not how anyone should behave online. People need to have a level of tolerance when putting themselves out into the public sphere and hear other perspectives.

I wouldn't necessarily assume that. She censors innocent comments quite a lot.

I don't think it's appropriate to 1. assume she's a grandmother, and 2. to draw attention to her age.

It looks terrible but there is serious potential here if it were funded properly.

Definitely pick up both Day 1 so long as they’re physical and there’s no funny business.

More safe and boring Nintendo releases.

I miss the days when they would innovate and put out really different and interesting titles. Splatoon was the last great Nintendo innovation.

One of Nintendo's best ever series. 3 on Wii U is a masterpiece and even better than Breath of the Wild in my humble opinion! Also... Hey! Pikmin is underrated!

No purchase from me then - not that it will make any difference!

If all three are on the game card I'll consider it. What I think is equally important is quality of life features, including an easy way to replay missions if they are failed. The old system of dying, ending up at a hospital and then going all the way back to get a mission before making your way back to its location is a waste of the player's time.

Are people still buying these generic indie pixel platformers?

Where’s the time trial mode? Will the entire game be on the card? Will it run in 720p in handheld? These are the types of questions you sadly have to ask these days with any new racer on the Switch. Should be a given.

Why no Time Trial mode? I find it staggering that so many racing games these days omit one of the most compelling modes for long term play. How hard can it be to implement it?

I’m not a fan of superscaler racers. I bought that 80s one on Switch recently and it’s garbage. Outrun is very shallow in terms of its gameplay despite its classic status.

What we need is more games like Sega Rally, Ridge Racer and Daytona USA.

@DashKappei Couldn't agree more. I want to know what the frame rate is like and the resolution in handheld mode, whether it has a discrete Time Trial option, and whether the game requires a mandatory download.

It sounds like the reviewer didn't play it very long if I am being honest.
