@guitarpete987 @Winter_Samurai The first two Cold Steel games are now in English, but only on PC and PS4 (upgraded Kai versions), as well as PS3 and PS Vita (original versions).
The Kai versions are on Nintendo Switch but only in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea.
I have a crap PC with integrated graphics (Dad bought my PC and he doesn't want anything with discrete graphics for me so I have to make do with vaseline filters and claymation framerates) and I feel bad that my experience is a lot worse than the PS4 version but I feel a bit better that it is still better than the Switch version.
@Chowdaire Yeah. It's about on-par with Over the Hedge.
As for the other DreamWorks film of 2005 (though it's a co-production with UK's Aardman), Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is one of the best films of that year and it looks really great, and it's 3D but not CGI (it's claymation with some CGI effects such as the bunnies whenever they are in the BunVac 6000).
The Monster Hunter anime is more comparable to Studio Ghibli's Earwig and the Witch, another low-budget CGI anime film, though they have different styles.
Monster Hunter looks like a video game cutscene while Earwig looks like 3D CGI trying to simultaneously imitate Ghibli's 2D animation and Aardman's claymation at the same time.
I hope Disney does the same with Disney+ and offers licensed games based on their properties as well as old LucasArts games? Who's up for some Classic Battlefront II on Disney+? Or Jedi Academy on Disney+?
This is from the same guy who made The Thief and the Cobbler: The Recobbled Cut, the definitive restoration of one of the best animated films of all time.
If the Pro does have DLSS, it will have great-looking 4K even if it isn't native 4K. And since DLSS 2.1 allows 1440p rendering to great-looking 8K, I hope the Nintendo Switch Pro has HDMI 2.1 support for both 4K 120fps and 8K 60fps, with DLSS engaged for better performance and visuals.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi I would actually give Suikoden to the people who are making Eiyuuden Chronicle. But Square Enix isn't a bad choice either.
That said, I would definitely give Metal Gear, Boktai, Zone of the Enders, SNATCHER and Policenauts back to Kojima, the true heir to the throne of Metal Gear. And allow him to make Silent Hills while the other Silent Hill games would be from Capcom. Kojima should remaster SNATCHER and Policenauts.
An uncensored SNATCHER remaster like what happened with Famicom Detective Club but with a retro anime aesthetic similar to SNATCHER rather than FDC's more modern anime approach, maybe get Studio Ghibli to do the new art for SNATCHER since they are the best when it comes to the retro anime style, to the point that they even filter their more modern films to look like analogue 35mm film, even their latest 3D CGI film had a 35mm film filter.
Policenauts remaster with ultra high resolution HDR scans taken from the original illustrations and film negatives with an English translation would also be amazing. The game was made with hand-drawn illustrations and paintings for the sprites and backgrounds which were digitally scanned and the anime cutscenes were made on analogue 35mm film. Ridiculously high resolution scans of the original sprite and background elements as well as a 4K or 6K remaster of the original 35mm negatives (preferably without DNR since many anime 4K remasters use heavy DNR that ruins the films) would make Policenauts look amazing and filmic, especially with HDR that would make the illustrations and animation just pop out.
Boktai 1 - 3 and Lunar Knights remasters with the sensor thing being replaced with some functions that can track the weather and time of the location that would affect the fill rate for the ammo of the Solar Gun.
I only ever dated two, severely autistic girls myself. And they constantly kept stalking me as they were overly attached ex-girlfriends. When we dated, we would have some really fun moments together but we often argue. They wanted to marry me so badly even though I want to stay single for a while.
I am an autistic gamer myself (Asperger's Syndrome) and I usually can't impress girls except for those two stalkers because of my poor social skills and below-average looks.
If my dating life was a video game, it's probably a stealth game with me trying to get away from my stalkers while finding my own true love.
China is not the only country that loves stealing and piracy and does not have any copyright laws. The Philippines also pirates and bootlegs everything where even the largest mega-corps steal everything, and said bootlegs are still so terribly made that they are terrible even for YouTube standards, even the very few original content they have is terrible even for the early days of YouTube, with audio quality that is worse than a heavily-compressed N64 game, and unfinished animation worse than what is capable with the Sega Genesis.
It's to the point that the Philippines is often called a bootleg knockoff of China, but without the whole communist dictatorship thing.
I'm not sure if Nintendo getting a Game of the Year category of their own is a good thing or a bad thing.
On the one hand, it could be seen as being fair to the other GotY contenders as Nintendo games are often much more heavily acclaimed than other games. They are in such a league of their own that they need their own category to be fair to the other contenders.
On the other hand, it can also be seen as a consolation prize, similar to how some heavily-acclaimed animated films like Spirited Away are only nominated for Best Animated Feature, and not nominated for Best Foreign Film and Best Picture as well, despite being one of, if not the most heavily-acclaimed film of the year. And the only reason it didn't get nominated for those awards was just because it's animated.
@Noid Blame locations charging ridiculously high service charges for the production of The Empire Strikes Back.
Producer Howard Kazanjian came up with the idea of shooting Return of the Jedi under the codename Blue Harvest which was apparently a horror film. Even though Return of the Jedi, then titled Revenge of the Jedi, was already known to be in production.
@Clyde_Radcliffe I want updated Taxman remasters of all the Classic Sonic games that adds all of the features of Sonic Mania (they're all optional, though).
With all five games (1, 2, CD, 3 & Knuckles) having five characters each (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Mighty and Ray) with the ability to mix-and-match character duos (like Knuckles & Knuckles), original remastered (like the iOS ports of 1 and 2) and re-arranged music in the style of Mania (as well as a remastered SC-88pro PC MIDI soundtrack for 3&K, and hopefully with the original release soundtracks for CD and 3 restored, with the prototype Genesis music for 3 as another option), HD FMVs for Sonic CD restored from the original negatives (not sure if it's 16mm or 35mm, though), and both original and updated graphics inspired by Mania. Ultra-widescreen CinemaScope support for the mobile and PC versions (the mobile version of Sonic 1, 2 and CD are Ultra-widescreen with newer phones like the iPhone 12 Pro Max). Hell, they can even include Sonic Mania as part of the package.
Monster Hunter can work well with modern-day guns and soldiers (if you still consider the 1970s as modern warfare). Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker took a lot of inspiration from Monster Hunter right down to one of the control schemes being stated as based on the Freedom games in-game and even the monsters being optional bosses in some missions. In return, some Metal Gear items appeared in Portable 3rd which is unfortunately Japan-only (though fan translations do exist).
But still, this movie looks terrible. Out of the three Anderson directors, Paul W.S. Anderson is the worst and his films are mostly terrible with a few exceptions like Event Horizon and Soldier. Wes Anderson (a legend among directors with his own distinct style that is often imitated but never duplicated) > Paul Thomas Anderson > Paul W.S. Anderson
