Re: Atlus Rules Out Persona 3 Reload Switch Port

@topsekret Also, using ASTC compression is efficient up to a point, as heavy use can reduce the overall quality of the game, especially in textures, lighting, and even causing shimmering. Not to mention, the game has higher assets than XII, multiple voice lines uncompressed in different languages, and detailed particle shaders.

@topsekret Because the game is already priced at $39.99 instead of $70 and putting it on a Game Card would've cut in $16 each copy? Also, again, you're forgetting that VII Remake Intergrade still uses unique assets, which fill in file size, even with compression, the game on PS5 is almost 100gbs, they got it down to 87.9gbs on Switch 2 while on Steam it's also 100gbs.

@topsekret You do realize that for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, the issue wasn't the read speeds, but the actual size of the game itself? Which wasn't fully compressed as the developers have stated in the past they wanted to use more unique assets. Not to move the goal post, but just wanted to clarify that.

@topsekret Your talking about the original Final Fantasy VII Remake, the one on Switch 2 is the Integrade version, which brings in the graphical enhancements SIMILAR to PS5, as even Digital Foundry stated it looks better than the PS4 version on Switch 2, as well as the Yuffie DLC which was made exclusively for the PS5 at the time and took advantage of SSD speeds to avoid the loading tunnels seen in the base game due to hard drive speed constraints and could handle loading in an entire level.

@Whyarewestillhere Handhelds in the same price point as the Switch 2 aren't reaching the performance of a PS5. The last generation of consoles were the Xbox One and PS4, which handhelds will be in due to their size and affordability. If you want a handheld closer to PS5, it'll cost double the price of a Switch 2 most likely or even triple, and will have considerably less battery life playing those titles.

Re: Here's What Donkey Kong Bananza Looked Like On Switch 1

Hisui25002

@Abrammchi First off, unless you deeply understand economics, especially macro economics, you would understand that while there are concerns due to tariffs, at least for the United States, for the time being, there's no clear indication of a recession. Secondly, it's much cheaper to develop a handheld version of a Switch 2, similar to Switch Lite, hence why Nintendo did it, among the other reason that data straight from Nintendo shows users prefer handheld mode a lot more than docked mode. Thirdly, Nintendo will not fall back on the Switch 1. They've clarified that the Switch 1 holds them back on their ideas with Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, hence why they went with Switch 2. They're not going back on 8 year old tech. I'm thinking they're betting on what the rest of the industry is heading towards, starting with the PS5 Pro. $600-$700 consoles being the standard for PS6 and the next Xbox. That in itself would make the Switch 2's $450 price tag much more appealing to consumers and is what helped draw in so many consumers during the beginning of the Switch era, by undercutting the competition. The next PlayStation or Xbox will most likely not go back to $500, it'll be priced higher, making the Switch 2 a steal to consumers' eyes in terms of video game consoles.

Re: Here's What Donkey Kong Bananza Looked Like On Switch 1

@Abrammchi The Switch was supported for eight years. That's an extremely long time. The Switch 2 needs exclusives so that the console has a future and a reason for consumers to buy them, not to mention those who buy the Switch 2 need games that take full advantage of the hardware.

Re: 'Switch 2' Replica Showcased By Accessory Maker Genki At CES 2025

Hisui25002

@Fulgor_Astral As much as I would've, I would rather Nintendo not be forced to innovate, as that can lead to terrible mistakes, i.e., Virtual Boy and Wii U, and instead improve upon the Switch itself. However, they may continue to innovate with the console in other ways. The DS and 3DS looked similar, but the 3DS was innovative in its way as well.

Re: Random: Some Square Enix Staff Really Want A Final Fantasy VI Remake

Hisui25002

@Itachi2099 @Itachi2099 I would agree as Final Fantasy did start on Nintendo, but Sony and Square has been close since VII. Sony’s the reason VII exists. If you actually read on their relationship back then, Nintendo exerted tight control over their games. Back in the 90s, they literally had to release games with bugs or cut out multiple parts of it because Nintendo refused to let them use bigger-sized cartridges. Sony on the other hand, gave them funding on the marketing and development on VII. You can actually look up the Senior Vice President of Nintendo saying this about VII, “Most of our customers wouldn’t want or appreciate such a slow and tedious game such as Final Fantasy VII.” So, while it did start on Nintendo, Nintendo screwed up their relationship with Square.

I don't understand people's frustration. If you see the gameplay videos, this requires only a few Zonai Charges. Which constructs drop a couple upon defeat and they seem to be the common enemies in the sky islands, like how bokoblins are in the ground. Not to mention, it gives you a lot more than what Xenoblade 2 gave you to the point you only need to do this once or twice.

Re: Bowser Defends $70 Zelda Pricing, Nintendo Still "Very Bullish" About Switch

Hisui25002

@PinderSchloss Games back in 1999 weren't as expansive and expensive to make as now. You do realize this is probably Nintendo's most expensive game ever made right? Nintendo is very critical of Zelda and it has been shown time and time again especially with the multiple delays of Breath of the Wild. They are hiding a lot and I mean a lot about this game. The fact that it has taken them over 5 years to make this game shows that much.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Get Pokémon HOME Support In "Early 2023"

Hisui25002

@BLD Transferring Pokemon over right from the get-go sounds unfair to those who play Scarlet and Violet as their first game. There does need to be a balance, just transferring most of the Pokemon from the Pokedex from the start of the game ruins the fun. It ruins the exploration because there would be no need to. These games are explorable because of the different Pokemon. Without the need to do so, there would be no reason to do so. There would be no reward.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Temporarily Listed On Nintendo Website For $70 USD

Hisui25002

@blockfight What about the cross-gen versions? Why is one version $60 and the other $70? When it's mostly a graphical update? On PC you can upgrade the graphics on the settings of the game provided the PC can support it for free. In terms of the DualSense's controller features, that should be natural for a game company to support the latest and unique features of each console, which wasn't something they charged for in the past. For cross-gen versions, I don't believe there's any justification to increase the price to $70 as this wasn't done in the past with past cross-gen games. New games on the next gen consoles, however, can be considered $70.
